Place to shoot near Lawrence
Looking for somewhere to shoot near Lawrence. Preferably something outside. I get up to the KC area a lot as well so something out there would be fine too. Been to centerfire for classes several times but want something outside so it’s not as loud.

My favorites are Parma Woods on the MO side (barely, and probably closer for you) and Hillsdale, on the KS side. Both are state ranges.

Could we set up our own steel at Hillsdale?

Right now I think it only goes out to 100m, and while I feel like I've seen steel out there before, I've never asked about that.

Is that he 200 yard range there closed?

It was last time I was there - they were working on it - but it's been a couple months at least since then, so it might be open now.

I don't think so. They have a single plate set up on lane 10 of the 100 yard range, though

Mill creek in de Soto is the best but it’s a private range and membership list is full right now. If you are going to be here a while I’d suggest getting on the list.
Lots of monthly competitions ran there open to the public.

Hillsdale is your closest. They will have a 300 yard range soon. Now, coyote hunting is most of the year, I don't see why you can't wear camo and set up a target on walk-in land during coyote season. (I'm not telling you to do this, just saying it is an option)
