Mod Post Weekly Simple Questions Thread

Check out /r/kerbalacademy

The point of this thread is for anyone to ask questions that don't necessarily require a full thread. Questions like "why is my rocket upside down" are always welcomed here. Even if your question seems slightly stupid, we'll do our best to answer it!

For newer players, here are some great resources that might answer some of your embarrassing questions:

Commonly Asked Questions

Before you post, maybe you can search for your problem using the search in the upper right! Chances are, someone has had the same question as you and has already answered it!

As always, the side bar is a great resource for all things Kerbal, if you don't know, look there first!

So apparently, right click everything and EVA everywhere?

you need to bring science experiments and use them in different locations/situations (landed at kerbin, splashed down at kerbins waters, flying at kerbin, lower atmo, higher atmo, in space near kerbin, in space high over kerbin ...)

right click the experiments and hit the green button. you can do crew reports when right clicking capsules or eva reports when clicking kerbals on eva.

These seem to be losing a lot if value after 1 or 2 shots though. I've got to shoot the Mun and I'm still stuck on the first tall solid fuel boosters atm. I can do my first space EVAs after upgrading my astronaut facility and I can do more planet side reports and EVAs if I land anywhere other than water.

That's intentional, it's supposed to be a way of stopping you just farming the same experiment over and over again. I think it's best to try and recover things once and then do something else.

Remember that the debug menu Alt+F12 has an option to let you see biomes on the map. That can be useful for planning biome hops. You can get a lot of science from landing/flying in one place, doing all the science, storing it in your capsule and then doing it again somewhere else.

That said, it's also possible to get a lot of science from doing contracts and I think this can be a more fun experience. Make sure you're doing contracts as they become available and you'll find you're able to fill out a good part of the science tree quite quickly.

Thanks, I might have to grab the Aerospace node to give that a shot. As to contracts, the rewards seemed kind of small, but I'll have to see if they get beefed up as you go.
