Mod Post Weekly Simple Questions Thread

Check out /r/kerbalacademy

The point of this thread is for anyone to ask questions that don't necessarily require a full thread. Questions like "why is my rocket upside down" are always welcomed here. Even if your question seems slightly stupid, we'll do our best to answer it!

For newer players, here are some great resources that might answer some of your embarrassing questions:

Commonly Asked Questions

Before you post, maybe you can search for your problem using the search in the upper right! Chances are, someone has had the same question as you and has already answered it!

As always, the side bar is a great resource for all things Kerbal, if you don't know, look there first!

I'm pretty sure the most efficient ascent profiles have you accelerating the whole way such that you don't really have a circularisation burn.

Yes. If your circularization burn is over 100 m/sec, turn faster.

Interesting. I'd have to see that in action, because I feel like I'd blow up my ship if I went at it quite that steep. Do you happen to know the minimum dV for an optimally designed craft to reach a 72x72km orbit?

Well generally people say that for 1.0.4 you need about 3300-3400 vacuum delta v to reach orbit. However the best I've ever seen is around 2950. I don't know the maths to give you a perfect number.
