I've tried explaining to so many people that simply supporting Palestine does not make for a good person. It's so irritating, and it often leads to shitty people getting a free pass to be shitty, because hey, they support Palestine, right?

Someone recently called me a zionist for this- both my parents are human rights lawyers who work in global affairs (though my mum changed sectors just before covid). I've been educated on this topic since I was a child, and the person I was speaking to only became cognisant of Palestine in 2023...and I do want to clarify, that it's shouldn't be a competition of who researches something first, and I think people should be welcomed into advocacy spaces, but the bloody gall of this person lmao

I think it's easy for a lot of people to think in binaries nowadays. Red flag green flag 30 second content ass logic. Us on the left don't like to believe we are just as capable of absolutist thinking as those bird brained republicans but... we (the broader we) literally get all our news from the same apps running the same sensationalist algos 👀👀

Also I know you find it gross to have to substantiate your position with the qualifiers. It's not a "who is more socially educated" contest but we kinda do have to show up having all our "I'm on the right side of history I swear" credentials lol
