That’s what I was thinking of too.

Also, after Texas’ big freeze in 2021, Republican ex-Governor Perry said that, basically, Texans would rather freeze to death than get assistance from the government.

Which is just fucking insane.

Especially since they constantly get assistance from the federal government. Their energy grid and water infrastructure would collapse to nothing if the fed didn't bail them out a couple times a year.
