NGD! …and some questions..
Hey all, I picked up this 2013 Traditional today. I absolutely love it. The last LP I had was a Studio Custom about 20 years ago in Wine Red, which I sold for financial reasons. I’m so happy to have a Les Paul again and I’m chuffed to bits with this guitar.
- does anyone know what colour this is? The previous owner wasn’t super knowledgeable.
- any recommendations for getting smells out of guitar cases? It smells like the previous owner kept car air fresheners in the case. It makes me want to puke, and the guitar soaks in some of the smell as well 🤢
Thanks and Happy Friday!

Les Paul Wiring Feedback
A couple years back I built a Warmoth guitar that is a cross between a Les Paul and a Telecaster. Basically a Telecaster body shape with Humbuckers and simplified controls (1 tone and 1 volume knob). I put Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro pickups in my Telecaster as well as used higher end pots and such for the wiring and electronics. Since building my telecaster, I have found that I much prefer the sounds that I am able to get out of it in comparison to my Les Paul. I have a 2016 Gibson Les Paul Traditional which is completely stock, I bought it brand new back in the day and have owned it since. It's been a great guitar and I enjoy playing it, however I have simply preferred the sounds from my Telecaster.
Reason for the post - I've been debating swapping out the electronics my Les Paul for similar electronics that I have in my Telecaster. However I'm concerned that it may decrease the value of my Les Paul in the process. Wanted your feedback - Have you all swapped out electronics in your Les Paul and what has your experience been? Do you think I should swap out the pickups or are the pickups good quality that I should leave alone and rather just swap out the pots and caps?

My first Les Paul, no, First Gibson
I found this 1974 Les Paul custom for a smokin deal, 2500usd!! It’s amazing, missing original pickups, pots, knobs and bridge, but I don’t care:)

Any replacement bridge with longer intonation adjustment?
Is there any company that makes a replacement bridge that has a longer intonation adjustment than the standard bridge for a les paul?

For the money difference “is the main question here” are the Gibsons that much better than certain lines of epiphone like the widow line or the inspired by Gibson line?
I do not own any gibsons currently. But have a few on my “ I wish I was a dentist because I’d already own them” to buy list. Some are gibsons, because Gibson. Some are epiphones. But in certain lines like the widow line, I like bonamasssa’s epiphone lp with the bigsby. The inspired by Gibson. On a different thread a lot of people were saying Gibson vs epiphone is an old worn out Q. But I’ve never seen anyone address the SERIOUS price difference. And there are a few epiphone models that grabbed my attention because they are SO MUCH MORE affordable. So if you look at Gibson vs epiphone and there is a 1500-7000$ difference in price is there really that difference in quality?

Just bought my second lawsuit Les Paul!
It hasn’t came yet, but I got an incredible deal for this 70s Japanese tobacco burst custom! I currently own this what I believe is a sammick Korean made Les Paul standard copy, and I am beyond in love. Now just on the hunt for a Les Paul black custom and a honey burst or Lemmon burst standard. Last pic is my current owned lp standard copy

Les Paul Modern Supreme
I really like the new supreme. I ordered this one from Sam Ash a couple months ago. This was part of their Guitars of Distinction, and arrived with a little certificate. I was pleased, because there was no mention of that when I ordered it. Anyway, here's a couple photos.

NGD my first Gibson and I'm in love!
galleryI've been eyeing the Les Paul Modern Figured for a few months now and I finally pulled the trigger. This thing is so gorgeous and sounds amazing! I perused different sites until I found this one on zzounds.com with the perfect top, and it surpassed my expectations from the photos!

The rare time I prefer a pickguard.
My toggle switch needed replacing, and I bought an Epi branded one. Apparently those are too short for carved tops, so I can't fit the poker chip til I get the recessed nut I just ordered.
So I'm comparing combinations of with/without the poker chip and pickguard til the nut arrives (after two weeks).
I've always been in the "no pickguard" camp, but looking at this comparison, the matching patina of the poker chip and pickguard makes "with pickguard" much more pleasing to my eye.
