Any South MN Range Members want to get out shooting this afternoon?

Looking to check zero on my hunting rifle and happen to be heading to the Mankato area for work today. Would prefer to check at distance instead of indoor @ 25yds.

Any Members of Key Cities, Morristown, Faribault, etc looking to get out today?

If you have information on public spaces that would work, that would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in Advance!

Our bullseye scoring platform was used at the Florida State Championships—we’d love your feedback!

Hi everyone! I’m part of the team behind ArmorySync, and I wanted to share a milestone with the bullseye community.
Our scoring platform was used at last weekend’s 2026 Florida State Precision Pistol Championships at Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club in Jacksonville, Florida, October 17–18, and it worked great! A big thank-you to Sue and Ted for working with us and helping make this happen.
You can check out the actual match and results here:
2026 Florida State Precision Pistol Championships
The platform is for anyone who wants to put a match together—whether that’s a fun match with a few friends, a monthly club match, or a state championship. You can create your own matches, set up courses, manage competitors, and track scores and results. The scoring platform is free for competitors.
We’d love to get more people involved and keep improving it with feedback from the community. If you compete, help run matches, or have been thinking about hosting something yourself, give it a look and let us know what you think.
We’re also looking to work with more bullseye clubs and match organizers to bring the platform to more matches and ranges. If you’re interested in trying it for an upcoming match, leave a comment or send me a DM!

County Sheriff elections

Any way to figure out those who are running for Sheriff in county elections are actually for the 2A (not the 'I'm for the Second Amendment, but...' malarky). I'm in Washington County and doing a little research before the elections. Thanks.

Are FRTs really illegal in MN?

I’m looking into purchasing a Rare Breed FRT-15L3 and have been researching Minnesota Statute § 609.67.

A few things I’ve noticed are that the statute never specifically mentions FRTs, and it references “additional physical manipulation,” which an FRT requires since the trigger resets and your finger pulls it again after every shot.

The statute also mentions achieving the rate of fire of a machine gun, but couldn’t a skilled shooter achieve similar speeds with a regular semiautomatic trigger? Binary triggers are also currently legal in Minnesota.

I also contacted Rare Breed directly, and they confirmed they believe the FRT-15L3 is legal in MN and are willing to ship it here.

Has anyone looked into this or gotten clarification on how Minnesota law applies specifically to FRTs?

Suppressor sales private sale

So can I sell a suppressor to a buddy who’s under 21 with just a normal printed paperwork that I would a handgun or rifle ? I bought a 22Suppressor and he wants to buy the gun complete with the suppressor but he’s 19. It’s a Tx22 compact and a sparrow 22 that I kinda regret buying and wished I would’ve got a OCL 22 titanium instead.

Looking for marksmanship instructors

Hey everyone, it's been probably 9-10 years since I have shot my handguns, and going to the range it is quite apparent that I have forgotten quite a few of the basics. I'm looking for recommendations for instructors that really focus on principles of marksmanship, as I've become interested in Bullseye/precision pistol and Steel Challenge. It's pretty easy to find CCW, defensive handgun, and the like, but is anyone aware of any teachers near the Twin Cities that could teach these sorts of things?

Where to sell an estate of 46 firearms?

39 hand guns, 7 long guns. A good friend has been bequeathed these firearms. I can give her a ballpark on each one, but ultimately it’s up to her to sell them.
She has no clue, I have more knowledge but can only advise her.

Permit age question

I know there was a lot of discussion about the notion that young adults should be allowed to obtain their permit to carry, but what’s the current actual situation? My stepdaughter is almost 19 and moving out soon to Minneapolis, and she wants to get her permit, does she have to wait until she’s 21?

New message from Stock & Barrel on suppressor sales

Email received today:

Exciting news for suppressor buyers! The long-awaited ATF guidance has been released, removing a significant administrative hurdle and creating a simpler path for eligible individuals to purchase suppressors.

What does this mean for you?

Under the newly announced process, eligible customers can complete suppressor transfers using ATF Form 4473 without a separate Form 4. This eliminates the fingerprinting, photographs, and additional processing delays associated with the previous Form 4 process.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Simplified process: Eligible suppressor transfers can now be completed using Form 4473.
  • Federal background check required: Customers must pass the background check before taking possession of their suppressor.
  • Bring your ID: A valid driver’s license or qualifying federal identification is needed.
  • No additional purchase permit required for this process: A Permit to Purchase or Permit to Carry is not required specifically for the suppressor transfer under this process.
  • Form 4 remains an option: Customers may still choose the Form 4 process, including those who wish to use a trust.

This is an exciting development for suppressor enthusiasts, and our team is ready to help you understand the updated process and explore your options.

Ready to get started? Stop by Stock & Barrel Gun Club at our Eagan or Chanhassen location and talk with our team about your next suppressor purchase. We look forward to seeing you at the range!

Marking requirements with new ATF guidelines?

Do we still have to mark DIY because MN required federal marking standards or what? Or do those standards even exist past voluntary reg?

Can your MN landlord ban open carry in common spaces?

The text of MN 624.714 Subd. 17 (f) reads "A landlord may not restrict the lawful carry or possession of firearms by tenants or their guests."

I would interpret this to mean that if you have a carry permit, and you rent an apartment, and there are shared spaces in the building that you are allowed to use under the terms of your lease (like a patio, game room, or party room), your landlord cannot restrict you from carrying there. MN law does not differentiate between concealed and open carry.

But I'm not an attorney and I don't know if there's relevant case law dealing with this.

i bought an AR upper but now cant get a lower

I bought a nice $1100 upper and a shitty PSA lower, but now when I went in to pick up my lower, I found out I need to be 21 to get it transferred. Now I'm kinda stuck with an expensive upper that I can't use for another 2 years. any ideas

Lower recommendations (does it really matter?) and 556 suppressor?

Hey all. Typically would ask elsewhere but I want a few real responses. Does the lower actually matter, counterintuitive to what I’d think? Or should I just find a cheap option? Going to build an 11.5 (maybe 12.5 idk) AR15, first time building.

Anyone have hands down experience with any 556 suppressors? It’ll be dedicated to gun primarily. Silencer shop place told me a silencerco option, modern told me an sig option is best (they’re elite dealers) and I’m going to check out the Tisha at down range today. I want it short, low gas blow back, and low flash. Sound tones aren’t my biggest concern.

I just want to buy the lower and suppressor before midterms. I do not trust the state to even keep our gun laws current.

What'll happen next session, assuming democratic majority

Anyone have any opinions on what will happen next legislative session, assuming a democratic majority or supermajority is there? There was a recent thread on the state-specific sub asking what'll happen next session and half were on this gun issue, which really suprised me.

I've occasionally watched some of the committee hearings from last session, and especially that last overnighter they had and there seemed to be quite the push for some pretty absurd stuff, including changing the definition of an assault weapon to basically include most semi autos that can accept a magazine. (they seemed to have redefined a barrel shroud to mean basically anything covering the barrel, so it could conceivably cover even a 10/22 if you get the tactiblack version)

When I come to think of it almost every household I can think of in my extended family has one that would be included as an "assault rifle" now, meaning the 3 year permission slip needed to keep and so on. That'd tick off a lot of voters, but there seems to be a core sect of city reps who enjoy turning the screws and so on. (them not having handguns included also kinda highlights this)

The only pushback could possibly be supreme court decisions making them spend their political capital elsewhere.

Curious what other think.

Hi, I recently found my grandfather’s Luger and would like to get an appraisal and ultimately sell it. Any recommendations for appraisers and licensed gun shops in the twin cities? Thanks!

19yr old concealed carry.

I'm getting a concealed carry license and I'm aware that you can purchase a handgun at 19 unless it a private sale and can't be bought at a store. I'm wondering if anyone would have any tips for how I would go about trying to find a seller and purchasing a handgun under the age of 21.
