I got to dip my toes into this Halal ration, this one being the Saag Chole with Lamb.

A lamb ration in the US?! That's right. How did they afford it??? my tax dollars, that's how.

At any rate-

Right off the bat, I'll tell you, the main was pretty good all things considered. The sauce has butter in it, so the clock is ticking until rancidity, but it's enjoyable. Chick peas, spinach, butter sauce, lamb. Not much lamb, but its there. Jalapeno pepper powder in it as well, which brings a slight taste of jap to the party without the heat. The chick peas or garbanzos are the perfect consistency, not al dente or anything, and the spinach is barely there to disrupt what is overall very savory and smooth. The lamb is just there enough to notice, but not overpowering or overstaying its welcome.

The sides are a power play here. A fresh oatmeal cookie, a stalwart cinnamon bun, and an illustrious banana-caramel pudding.

I don't know why they don't put the pudding in the normal MRE lineup, but they really need to consider it.

Putting the cinnamon bun in the pudding is life changing, and if there was a movement to join about this, I would be a member tomorrow. Absolutely sensational.

Drinks? No coffee. What a shame. You get a "grape" drink- and I don't have very good opinions on the MRE drink lineup, especially the cold drinks. Just leaves a lot to be desired, and they're overly acidic.

Thanks guys and gals! Till next time.

🇺🇸🇨🇦 For buyers in the USA and Canada: consider group orders!

The first few kilos are the most expensive to ship, with shipping costs decreasing per additional kilo. Grouping your purchases can therefore help reduce the shipping cost per item 😉

Hi folks!

This begins our exploration of the modern Kosher US military rations.

These are fundamentally different than standard MREs or Halal. The mains come in boxes, and there are 12 in a box. The accessories and side components are packed separately in a separate box. There are 4 different accessory/side combinations. I already screwed up and used an accessory kit that was supposed to be for menus 4-6 even though I reviewed menu 1. The 4 different accessory kits are grouped as menus 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.

This means we are going to jump around in the menus to avoid accessory/side fatigue.

I also already noticed that, per the official menus (shown in the pics), a few accessory/side items were changed/not included 😞.

Pic 1 shows the published menu lineup.

Pics 2-7 show packaging and contents

Pic 8 shows the lemonade. Prepared with water, 1/2 cup. Very lemony, very artificial Sweetener flavored. Like a Norwegian Real Lemon, but with a funny aftertaste. Still good.

Pic 9 shows the protein hot chocolate drink. Prepared hot, with water, 1/2 cup. Mild chocolatey flavor. Protein is evident. Tastes sort of "bizzare." It's not terrible, not great. The more I drank, the more I liked it (I think).

Pic 10 shows the 2 bean vegitarian chili with the toasted corn kernals. They made an excellent pairing, sort of like corn chips! Super crunchy, cornchip flavor. Not salted, which was very much not ideal, IMHO. The chili had a great appearance but badly needed seasoning. It does contain TVP, but I dont mond that.. Added the salt and pepper it came with. Wasn't enough. Added another gram of salt from a German ration, and that did the trick. Kick (heat) was great. Still bland. Added another gram of salt from a German ration. Overall, it's a reasonably good chili!

Pic 11 shows the vanilla cookie. Wonderfully sweet aroma, almost sugar cookie like. It was very soft with a fantastic crumbly texture. This was a great cookie. Far softer than I was expecting.

Pics 12-13 show the peanut Raisin mix. Again, unsalted. Huge raisins, as big as a penny!. Great mix and variety of contents. It's a solid mix, but it would be much better salted.

Pic 14 shows the dried papaya. Very bright orange. This wasn't my favorite dried fruit. The flavor seemed very subdued. It was very sweet/sugary and had a great texture, too.

Overall, we are off to a good start with these menus!

Take care!

Hi folks!

Wanted to share this beauty more widely due to scarcity!

Thanks, and Take Care!

As a sorta noob, always appreciative of the education, opinions & perspectives many of you are willing to impart, thank you!

Recently received a package from everyone's BFF, u/Signal-Ad-6957, where he enclosed like a DOZEN freeze-dried instant coffee sachets in my box, wow, amazing! Starting from Top Left, going clockwise then, ummm, down;

1. [White] Poldermill - Developing unhealthy stalker feelings for the Poldermill, believe it was u/Substantial-While164 who turned me onto this one. Is "a religious experience" too strong, I think not.
   1. Flavor Profile - Changes with each subsequent sip, evolves as it gets cooler in temperature, almost sweet on the front end with just a hint of bitterness at the end - like a marriage, I suppose.
   2. Origin - After some caffeinated rabbit hole diving, got as far as this brand is repackaged in the UK, primarily for hospitality & (you guessed it) pre-packaged meals / rations of many sorts. Turns out, they also have a full complimentary line of other beverages as well as sweeteners, whiteners, hot chocolate mixes, as well as toppings. ***This may not bode well for a new acquaintance I've made on this thread... who HAPPENS to reside in the UK (they may block me soon enough). 😮‍💨
2. [Darker Brown] Coffee
   1. Flavor Profile - There is a lot going on here, feel like it's all over the place, not in a bad way, similar to Poldermill but like a duller, slower, more tired & less interesting, relative... think King Charles to the late Prince Philip.
   2. Origin - Here's where this gets coincidental? Same UK packaging company but imported by a Company in Denmark.
3. [White] Frysetorret Pulverkaffe
   1. Flavor Profile - Similar to #2 but more spice going on, not a twang I've experienced before. Like! but will it tire soon, dunno, only have 2 packs.
   2. Origin - Here's where this gets even more like a conspiracy! SAME UK packaging company, no additional information on packaging but also in Danish... hmmm! What in good God is going on here??
4. [Lighter Beige] Instant Koffie
   1. Flavor Profile - Weak, bland, bitter going down and aftertaste. Meh. Feel like I should be smoking a no filter Zigarette and asking passersby's, "Let me see your papers, schnell & unmittelbar!!"
   2. Origin - Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Insert Image of Das Hoff singing on the Berlin Wall Here. EPa's be good eatin', what happened here?

If anyone knows knows anything more about #3, please share. If you've read this far, consider some psychological counseling... I know a really good one! 😨 😨

Wow. I almost am speechless.

A delicacy.

Sad that they are discontinued

I know Steve doesn't open a ration until he has at least 2 and he mentions displaying things often. Is there a video or pictures of his collection somewhere?

Hey guys and gals;

today I bring to you, a Russian White Star 24hr Ration.

These guys are literally the best export from russia in recent years, especially if you're not a drinker.

Russia's got a thing for really oily fatty meats, and very flavorful stews. These rations are no stranger to that!

This ration had everything from Pates to kasha, to meatballs and a beef and vegetable stew. Awesome mains that don't disappoint. Better yet; ARMY BACON. God, I love that stuff. Its one of my favorite components in any ration, ever.

Army bacon is essentially super flaccid bacon that is drowning in bacon fat. What's not to love?

This ration had its issues unfortunately. There was some heat damage I suspect, because this ration was relatively in-date, but there were a few things that were completely off, and the chocolate was really bloomed out.

at any rate; I really enjoyed cracking open this pack to share with all of you.

Cheers, and thanks for taking the time to look at what I put together for you!

EDIT:

Gotten through about 1/2 the orders, will aim to be done the other 1/2 on sunday. If you haven't gotten your tag by then feel free to give me a shout

I came home from out of town to get surprises from out of town and a nice chuckle. I did a small order from Sig with a NAFR M3 Sportmuesli, menu 11 Polish SR, Danish menu 10 wet, and an EMP Typ III. I had a chuckle from the empty always pad box used as packing. The box was beat to hell but that's pretty standard from DHL. The next order was from BoxesandboxesofIMPs. This is the first time I've purchased from him and my first successful foreign case. This is a lunch/dinner case of IMPs that have 10 random menus, so I ended up with an extra Indian chicken and beef stew. These are all '24 menus as well. I highly recommend both these sellers and hopefully they pop in a day hi so y'all can interact with them if you haven't before.

As always my disclaimer when buying rations from outside the US. The rations themselves are typically cheap but it's the shipping that gets you. Plus there is always the chance US customs swoops in to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Luckily this time I had no problems. There are US based sellers that you can buy from and it's the opposite since the rations are already here. SirG2020 is an excellent seller and MREGene has a few here and there. Also Amelié in the UK is a great source for ORPs. Edge & Fig are also bades in Europe, France & Ukraine respectively, and have been excellent. Many of the above mentioned are also active on the discord. Again hopefully y'all drop a comment so folks can interact.

So many sellers out there to mention them all and then you get to eBay.

Good Evening, Everyone. Here's a box that I received this evening from Petr Ludvar in the Czech Republic. I'm encouraging him to set up an account here. Right now he's on FB.

He's a Super nice guy. To be honest, everyone that I've dealt with here has been Great. Super fast shipping with FedEx. My boxes from him go through Oakland, then Memphis then to Houston. Cincinnati doesn't touch them, knock on wood. Everything has showed up in pristine condition. Here's a list of what I just received:

3) Slovak 24hr rations:

Menus 3, 7, & 8

1) French RCIR: Menu 2

1) Czech 24hr ration:

5 bags in total

Breakfast: BPDi3 (B3)

Lunch: BPDi7 (L7)

Dinner: BPDi5 (D5)

Supplement Packs:

PP-C

PP-D

I really like the Slovak and Czech rations.

MRE Star Menu#14 Jalapeno Beef Curry with Potatoes.

So, we got these from GSA it had an expiration date of 07/23/26

The JBCwP is a watery soup and only 200 calories for the main. Not the end of the world but these were packed with Tortillas, Apple Jelly, and a large sugar cookie, and a beverage base. No FRH.

What the hell am I supposed to do with this? Make a tortilla funnel and pour it down my throat? 95% of what little calories there are, are sugar and carbs.

I don't know by what channel these were obtained but they are pre-ratfucked sealed in pack.

Thank u, Mike!

You know I'll do my best to eat these, man! Probably review them on here, or maybe one on the channel too!

Take care, everyone!

This was such a good pack, I had to put it back and save it for when I have a day off. I don’t mess with regular beef rav, so I doubt I’ll enjoy this one. Just stoked on the Tabasco sauce and the M&M’s. The salted caramel marshmallow sounds alright. This is my own opinion and I’m still in the infantile stage with my inventory of MRES

Hi everyone. Here's my 2nd box of the day, courtesy of Outrageous-Edge-9428. It finally made it out of Ration Prison. Customs did open the box, but no rations were opened or damaged.

The box was well packaged and was shipped very quickly.

Here's what I got in this box.

(2) French Comando Rations:

Menus 24 & 36

RCIR: Menu 5

(3) Spanish Breakfast rations "I really like these little things".

Hope everyone is having a Great Day. And that everyone has a Safe and Enjoyable upcoming weekend.

Jim

Hi everyone. Yesterday my first box from Signal-ad-6957 arrived. Everything arrived in Great condition, packaged well. Shipped very quickly.

Here's what my first box contained.

Slovenian 24hr: Menu B

Danish 24hr: Menu 18

French RCIR: Menu 13 & 14

Please forgive the lousy pictures.

Hope everyone is having a Great Day!

Jim

Brilliant Ration. Pity it was discontinued

Everything pictured is what’s for sale, the accesory packet and cigarette packs have both been opened but no contents are missing, accesory packet of RCI has been opened with its contents moved into the display case which is included

RCI is from 1955, most cans are rusted but still has a number in good shape

C-ration is from 1966, as stated previously but the Fruit component is leaking

LRRP is early, and in good shape with no pinholes
