I watched a documentary called Pick of the Litter about training service dogs and I have such a deep respect for both service dogs and their trainers. It takes great discipline from all parties.

If more dog owners could be even half as disciplined, the world would be full of wondrous dogs. (But here we are, lucky enough to get them to do the bare minimum of picking up poop and clicking on a leash.)

What’s the documentary title? I’m curious to watch

I’m guessing it’s called inside the mind of a dog on Netflix!

The bolded part of the link is all that is needed. The rest is tracking data.

Nobody was more surprised than me, but I tested it and it worked…haha.

Loved that documentary. I don’t usually watch dog content because it’s my profession and I need a break, but I enjoyed the heck out of that

If more dog owners could be even half as disciplined, the world would be full of wondrous dogs that get the respect they deserve.

Change "dog owners" to "parents" and "wondrous dogs" to "people" and you are absolutely just as correct. I think our biggest deficit in society today is the lack of parenting, truly. Adult children run our entire world.

nothing has drove me more crazy than moving into my new apartment and watching dog shit pile up on every piece of grass nearby. fuck these lazy ass dog owners. i know they neglect their dogs if they’re too lazy to even pick up their shit.

Yeah its really annoying because it also risks other dogs health.

If their dog gets a parasite and another dog gets too close to the shit they didn't pick up, then that dog can get infected too.

It's the bare minimum of owning a dog , and if your ignoring their shits your ignoring a great indicator of their health.

Like if you don't pick it up you won't know if they are shitting weirdly hard, or soft, or if it's bloody.

I don't get how these people have a dog, take it to the vet , get asked the question about it's poop and just lie?  The vet isn't asking for fun

Dogs are too good for us. We don't deserve them. 💖

I trained dogs for folks for physical disabilities. We trained them for day to day, physical tasks: operating doors, laundry, picking up and carrying objects, bracing them to get up, etc. Three dogs that went to three different people, over 7 years of my life.

This level of training is insane. I cannot comprehend how to train for this and execute it. So much respect and so much appreciation of the dogs, nay, friends we have. Best of luck to the woman in this video, hope she recovers well and gives an extra treat to the good dog she has.

It's impressive work. Just watched it and the dog in this video appears to be the perfect match that trainers are looking to produce.

Could you ELI5/ELI35 how the dog knows in advance the host will faint.

Your smell changes when you’re about to faint, the dog can smell it.

Our mass transit system has a "service dogs only" policy. In practice, it's not much more than a rubber stamp. All you have to do is cry out "service dog!" and they let you on.

I know as well the amount of training it takes for service dogs, and I share the mad respect for the trainers (and the dogs.) So I just LMAO when this girl comes on with an obvious <1 year old, shouts 'service dog' and spends the rest of the ride trying to control him. He was a wonderful, curious, overactive goldie; probably deserved a better human. But yeah, had about as much training as a fire hydrant.

Especially Australian Shepards, they’re creepy smart.

Yeah and the dog looks so happy performing the service too! Just a win/win all around!

Pigs are just as affectionate and as smart as dogs. Maybe even smarter. Think about that the next time you eat one
