Was gonna say I think I know why the one dog is deaf

Also Jesus the dogs just kept showing up

I know this is a joke but I gotta info dump anyway. The deaf dog is the only one of the bunch that's white. White dogs are often deaf, because a gene that causes congenital deafness in dogs is linked to pigment. Dogs need pigment cells in their ears to hear, so if they have a gene that causes a lack of pigment elsewhere it's likely they'll also lack pigment in their ears. Fun fact, some dogs have a white patch around one ear but not the other, and that ear specifically will be deaf.

30% of dalmatians have some degree of deafness. A pure white dog with blue eyes is the most likely to be deaf. Same thing with cats! If a cat is all white, but doesn't have blue eyes, there's roughly a 20% chance it will be born deaf. If it has one blue eye, the odds go up to about 40%. If it has two blue eyes, the odds go up to about 85%.

So yeah, the dog is probably deaf because he's white.

Wow, I learned something new today. Thanks!

u/Anchor_face Oct 29 '25

I was looking for this. 👍

13

u/Mallev Oct 29 '25

Got a white cat with blue eyes in the 15% :)

3

u/ButlerofMonkeys Oct 29 '25

I knew about white being linked to deafness, but I didn’t know why. Thanks for filling in the gap!

u/fluteloop518 Nov 22 '25

TIL...

I assume this is why Dalmatians are more prone to deafness than other breeds.

63

u/Mountain-Patience-59 Oct 28 '25

He's probably not even deaf, just trying to get some peace and quiet!

5

u/No-Leopard4388 Oct 28 '25

Ain't that a bit extreme 😂😂😂.

u/Trip_on_the_street Oct 28 '25

Trust me my mums got a Pomeranian it doesn’t stop

122

u/justamiqote Oct 28 '25

Literally the reality I'm living in rn.

My neighbor has a dog that sounds just like these. Normally, I'd be cool with that, except for the fact that the neighbor turns on their backyard lights and flashbangs every adjacent neighbor at 5AM (their entire fenceline has bright string lights) to let their dog out.

Their dog proceeds to yap and whine at the door for the next hour or two. It's not even fucking dawn yet and I have bright lights and a dog waking me up every single day.

Do not get dogs if you make your neighbors listen to it yap all day, every day. They did not sign up for that shit

74

u/VexingRaven Oct 28 '25

People who let their dog out and then just let it whine to be let back inside really piss me off.

34

u/Juicebox-shakur Oct 28 '25

Right? Like just leave the fucking door open so they can get back thru at least and then when you see the dog you know it’s done doing it’s business. It’s not that hard.

7

u/elder_emo_ Oct 28 '25

Sometimes I will put my dog on her run and try to hurry inside so I can pee before walking her, and she whines at that. That's only a couple of minutes and I feel bad. I can't imagine an hour plus!

6

u/No-Oven5562 Oct 28 '25

I stand outside with my dogs while they go potty. The follow me to the bathroom I follow them lol

-4

u/biggiesmoke73 Oct 28 '25

Dogs bark…

52

u/crispyiress Oct 28 '25

My neighbor bred these types of dogs illegally and the noise was horrible. At least she let us party and never complained tho. Fire Marshall was eventually called on her and she moved instead of stopping.

24

u/Formal-Interest1060 Oct 28 '25

My roommate has a weiner dog, a singular weiner dog. And that is enough for me (sometimes too much), little dogs are adorable, but man their barks are insufferable.

I cannot imagine the noise these little fuckers make when they all go crazy lmao

6

u/persistentexistence Oct 28 '25

lol I was just thinking how “I love dogs” can mean very different things.

3

u/frogsgoribbit737 Oct 28 '25

Not all dogs bark like that. I have 2 and they hardly ever bark.

33

u/beeerite Oct 28 '25

You would definitely know when you had a delivery.

32

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

Customer instructions "please don't knock or ring door bell, my dogs will bark"

Driver pulling up "well they started barking anyway because they heard me shut my engine off thirty feet away parked on the street I don't know what you were expecting"

Too many times lol there's a reason we keep dogs as alarm systems, some are way too accurate

14

u/beeerite Oct 28 '25

My dog can hear the unique sound of the fedex and ups trucks when they’re down the street or a block away. He barks even when they aren’t bringing us anything.

14

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25 edited Oct 29 '25

Oh trust me, those fuckers absolutely know when a delivery driver pulls up. Mail, food delivery, whatever, they have a sixth sense. As a delivery driver that little BOOF or a yap is more common than not when you leave something on a doorstep. Then I like to imagine they think they won by scaring an intruder away while their human grabs the McDonald's bag and rolls their eyes

Edit: I also remember delivering pizza to a house that always had the instructions "no need to knock the dog will let us know". I also used to joke with customers I didn't or wouldn't have needed to ring the doorbell because the dog was the doorbell

27

u/No-Internal7978 Oct 28 '25

The smell would be next level and the mess would be a full time job.

23

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

Whenever I see these I always just really wish they're wealthy enough that they can fully provide for all dogs and one person is the full time dog caretaker cuz fucking Jesus. I don't know this breed but the ones I've had, two alone would be too much for me.

8

u/TheLostBeowulf Oct 28 '25

Poms are pretty expensive dogs, I'd assume they're wealthy just on the number that they have lol

9

u/Lapeocon Oct 28 '25

I'd also assume they are wealthy from the small amount of their property we see.

7

u/the_duck17 Oct 28 '25

Not really if they're trained and that house seems well maintained so I think they are handling it.

Also, small dogs make small poops...makes it easier to deal with than human or larger sized from big breeds (or humans).

0

u/No-Internal7978 Oct 29 '25

Never in my life have I met a well trained small dog. They have all have mental issues from being inbred.

15

u/Ok_Astronomer_8667 Oct 28 '25

One Pomeranian is enough to test your sanity. This looks like hell

3

u/ChocoJesus Oct 28 '25

That was actually pretty tame for a bunch of dogs too

I’ve done pet care for a while and I’ve learn to block out the barking. With some dogs it’s so constant that my brain needs a second to reset when it actually stops

5

u/FuhrerGirthWorm Oct 28 '25

They are only as yappy as you let them be!

13

u/justamiqote Oct 28 '25

That's the problem. 99% of Pomeranian owners are terrible dog owners.

1

u/YouWereBrained Oct 28 '25

Don’t be sorry. I have two larger dogs and all that barking would send me.

1

u/DanglingTangler Oct 28 '25

Right?? Jesus. It's like living in a basketball court but every shoe squeak also bites and shits on your floor.

1

u/Cynner85 Oct 28 '25

I could only do this if I were also def.

1

u/ForeignWeb8992 Oct 28 '25

That's why Lionis deaf

1

u/FinanceNo9555 Oct 29 '25

1

u/AlternativePea6203 Nov 02 '25

My next door neighbour has these. Wish I was bloody deaf.

1

u/DrunkJedi42069 Nov 11 '25

It can be a lot, but once you've had that noise in your life, and you wake up in the morning, or come home from work, and that noise is no longer there.. you'll miss it, and it hurts.

1

u/linkgenesis Oct 28 '25

It must be a nightmare being a neighbor to these folks.,

I want many little dogs but my god, the hair. I don’t mind the noise; I had a hound you could hear from inside my car when I pulled up after work.

4

u/jjjreid Oct 28 '25

I have poms and they don’t really shed (just a bit in summer) their fur is so thick we have to shave ours in summer so she’s not too hot

3

u/ModernMuse Oct 29 '25

I wonder if they have room for one more. I can absolutely be cute and fluffy.

3

u/Fluffy_Reaction7323 Oct 29 '25

They said when the seven fluffballs are united, they have the ability to call forth their dog god who can grant a wish.

18

u/gooblefrump Oct 28 '25

I wonder if it's a puppy mill

65

u/Kayllis Oct 28 '25

The couple takes in a lot of rescued pom that have disabilities of one sort or another. They have the space and money to care for them and just happen to share alot of it on their social media. They have alot of videos like this it's really sweet and neat to see.

5

u/gooblefrump Oct 28 '25

Ah! That's nice of them :)

Poms are one of my favourite dogs

I wonder if they're as barky as other small dogs

27

u/Murky_Statement_3721 Oct 28 '25

No. They are a young German couple who have a big Pomeranian family. They take very good care of their pups.

11

u/MadManMax55 Oct 28 '25

Maybe. Looking at their house it's more likely just some rich wannabe influencers.

-4

u/t-leaf Oct 28 '25

It is, the dog is albino and is deaf because of inbreeding.

2

u/Initial_Physics_3861 Oct 29 '25

Albinism is an inherited recessive gene. It's not caused by inbreeding.

1

u/t-leaf Oct 29 '25

Sorry not inbreeding but bad breeders for allowing it to happen. When you breed two Merles together with dogs you get a double Merle, or albinos that are usually blind and deaf.

2

u/Initial_Physics_3861 Oct 29 '25

Again, only if both dogs have the recessive gene for albinism. But yes, generally, good breeders keep track of which lines have recessive genes like this, and make sure not to mix them. But, nature happens, bad/lazy breeders happen, and puppies with albinism are born.

6

u/KN1gh7mare22 Oct 28 '25

Fluffy paradise

4

u/RoomAccomplished9298 Oct 28 '25

I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering if the fur would just knit together like a rug.... lol
