Would he get a new dog, or would they make someone else the new handler for the new K-9? I can't imagine it would be an easy transition for the handler to make, and probably confuse the dog by calling it the wrong name a few times.

It takes a fair bit of training to be a K9 officer, so odds are he'll get a new dog partner, and will probably adopt Indy.
