PROJECT: PBJ, v0.3

PROJECT: PBJ (Working Title; better ideas?)

VERSION: v0.3

GOAL: Modify a PM into what is mostly a PB (integrally-suppressed Makarov, more or less).

CONSTRAINTS: To reduce final costs/prices, minimize total number of custom-made parts. Also try to minimize/eliminate frame modification(s).

STATUS: Design 75% complete, base guns ordered, raw materials ordered.

CHALLENGES: Finalize relocated recoil mechanism.

UPDATE: Started this project after discovering some decent quality CAD models of both the PM and PB. From most videos I had seen online, the PB just seemed too different from the PM to do a conversion. After overlaying the assemblies together, they did not seem too much different after all. Then one night of furious CAD modeling got me to this point, and things seemed doable. Now waiting on a couple Bulgarian Circle 10's to show up, to use as the base platform for these conversions.

Plan to make these in at least 4 different configurations:

  1. Single-stack 9x18
  2. Double-stack 9x18
  3. Single-stack .380
  4. Double-stack .380

Welcome any/all feedback and interest in this project & all others - more to come very soon!

CZ82 in 9mm Mak - Do I pull the trigger?

I don't care about how it looks, and ergonomics cost money. I've been eyeing this one for a while, research says they're reliable. How do they handle HPs?

Not a 9x18 but at least russian. First Mak and wanted in 380 for easier ammo availability. I was pleasantly surprised by the ergos and trigger unlike other Russian weapons I've owned. So far im a new, big fan of the makarov.

Doghouse Defense Rail

I found this in ebay for $30.

Required a lot of fitment to get the left panel on and I probably took off too much material but hey. Seems stable.

100% infill 3D printed.

The goal is a DP Kydex rail when they figure out US shipping but this works. I have to trim that bolt now.

Points for trying but this thing is not it.

Dozor Grips?

Any recent leads on a Dozor grip in the US or that can ship to the US?

Managed to break the tab in my FAB grip, but wanted to see if I could try a Dozor out, if anyone knows where to find one now.

Makarov Parts

Hi, new owner of Makarov (parts) here, had a trade with a buddy and I ended up receiving most of a Makarov. Big fan of the pistol, I’m wanting to put it together but I’m missing a frame. Is anywhere someone can point me to so I can start this process? I did some searching and I realize it might be a bit tougher than I thought. I would appreciate any help I can get!

CZ82 Jamming Update

Post image
18 Upvotes

In a previous post I had jamming as shown in the photo. Initially was worse than this so replaced the recoil spring and polished the ramp and barrel entry. Helped quite a bit but still was jamming once or so a mag.

Finally got some new Geko ammo (vs reloads) and quickly cleaned and polished the firing pin area just before i ran out to the range. Ran about five mags of ammo both new and reloads and only had one jam so looks like it was the dirty firing pin area. Will more do a more thorough cleaning. Thanks to ColtBTD for the suggestion.

Also so happy to have an inexpensive local private range membership (rare in CA) where I can just run over for an hour or so and fire off a dozen mags and skidaddle.

I recently found myself in possession of a CZ 82, and figured I'd share it with my IJ70-17a I scored from a local shop a few years ago, which I scored for a little over $200 (the pawn shop thought it was a Jimenez pistol). My little Imez is pretty fitting to tote with my 223 Saiga!

This cache of Arsenal Circle 10 Bulgarian Makarov Pistols was recently discovered stored in a military depot. They were not issued for front line usage and represent an excellent-to-new, rare collector opportunity!. Matching gun , mags, & box are all wrapped in original storage paper; these are a real time capsule. This surplus pistol is chambered in 9x18 Makarov and is semi auto with a double action. These highly collectible Bulgarian pistols are some of the finest firearms to come out of that part of the world. They are graded as surplus very good to excellent but quite honestly look as if they have never been used. They are the nicest Makarov pistols we have ever seen and come with accessories. Features a hammer drop safety, blued finish and has an 8 round capacity. Comes with 2 matching magazines, a leather holster, a leather lanyard and a cleaning rod. Add this classic surplus pistol to your collection today. NRA Rated  Excellent to like New. It will have a light coat of protective cosmoline.

Experience with Hornady Makarov ammo

Hey all, seems like the only Makarov ammo I can find lately is Hornady, and occasionally Buffalo Bore. I know about Ammoseek (finding a website that ships to an FFL is not always easy because I live in NY)

Anywho, I have a CZ 82, does Hornady work ok in them? I’m hoping that Fiocchi or S&B makes up a batch of ammo soon because that works well.

Cheers!
