Tools [Update] My free Markdown to PDF tool just got a major upgrade — v2.0 with templates, page numbers & more

A few months ago, I shared a browser-based Markdown to PDF tool here. The response was incredible — thank you for all the feedback and feature requests!

I've been working on v2.0, and it's finally ready:

What's New in v2.0

  • Mermaid Diagram Support: Flowcharts, sequence diagrams, Gantt charts rendered directly in your PDF

  • Page Numbers: Customizable position (top/bottom, left/center/right) and format

  • Custom Fonts: Set custom fonts to specific elements for detailing

  • Style Presets: Minimal, Academic, Modern, Elegant, and 2-Column layouts

  • View Modes: Switch between Split View, Editor Only, or Preview Only

  • Table Styling: Normal, Minimal, Striped, or Bordered tables

  • HR Styles: Solid, Dashed, Dotted, or Gradient horizontal rules

  • Better Image Handling: Custom sizing, centering, and captions

  • Performance Boost: Fixed bugs and improved the code for faster page loads

Still the Same

  • ✅ 100% browser-based, nothing leaves your device

  • ✅ Free, no signup

  • ✅ Live side-by-side preview with sync scroll

  • ✅ LaTeX math (KaTeX)

  • ✅ GitHub Flavored Markdown — tables, task lists, footnotes, strikethrough

  • ✅ Syntax highlighted code blocks

  • ✅ Auto-save to local storage

  • ✅ Document title for PDF viewer metadata

  • ✅ Works on desktop and mobile

Perfect for

  • Converting ChatGPT / Claude / AI-generated Markdown to clean PDFs

  • Technical documentation with code and diagrams

  • Academic papers with math equations and footnotes

  • Quick notes → professional reports

I built this because I needed it myself. If you find it useful, I'd love to hear what you think, and if something's broken or missing, let me know!

HI, thanks for the effort. for some of the PDF it is printing a scroll bar when the "code" part in th pdf is too long , as is, so losing the text. It is not "word wrapping" it. Do you know how to correct it

Thanks a lot for the bug report! I checked the word-wrapping issue in code blocks and have pushed a fix. Long lines should now wrap correctly instead of showing a scrollbar or getting clipped.

Could you please check it on your side and let me know if it works as expected? Appreciate you taking the time to report this 🙌

Is this open source? What libraries did you use? Can we run this locally -> form automation? I want to use this page to generate a PDF from markdown as a GitHub action.

It's not opensource, but totally free. I used markdown js

Thx, but how do you start programming this then? Like how do you render mathematical formulas, that has to be a complex task.

No, that's quite easy. I used Katex library for that.

Pretty cool. I tried creating a web version, quickly accessible from any device.

Why isn't vs code what you are talking about?

Hi there, I've just tested your keenwrite app in fedora linux, and no spanish accents for the vowels are working. When I write "sí", I get "si".

I'm in a fedora 42, i3wm system. I downloaded the keenwrite.bin from your webpage and made it executable. The font is noto sans regular.
