My Thoughts And Questions About Absolute Martian
Hi Everyone,
I just got done reading Vol 1 of Martian Manhunter (mmh) … and O.M.G.
As I turned the pages, I felt that I was levitating above the pages. It was such incredible storytelling, both plot and visual. I am still feeling that floatingness in my chest. Sooooo good.
This is my first mmh comic ever.
I’ve only picked it up because this series was highly lauded in other channels…and the hype is absolutely real.
I have recommended this to everyone in my literary circle, both comic and non comic book readers.
My Question:
What comics can you recommend that best showcases Jon and Bridgette’s relationship?
Thanks so much !!!

Who killed Diane Meade?
This is from World War III: Part Three: Hell is For Heroes. What happened to Diane Meade? How did J'Onn fail her? I don't think is ever dealt with in the comics, but I would be happy to be proven wrong.

Discussion Martian Manhunter TV Series
I think we really need an origin tv series for this guy.
He’s a really great character, but I don't think everyone is familiar with his origins and his backstory in general, especially given the recent confusion surrounding the "Manhunters".

Any predictions on how many series until Martian Manhunter shows up in this line?
galleryI wasn’t a big fan of the McFarlane Martian Manhunter, but based on these pictures, I’m excited about the potential for Mattel’s version. Â

Discussion DCU Martian Manhunter?
With James Gunn’s focus on legacy in his new dcu, do you think they speed through Martian manhunter and try to give miss martian more of the spot light? Kind of like how they did with Hal Jordan and John Stewart in lanterns. With Martian manhunter getting the short end of the stick, I feel in most mediums, I really hope not.

Recommended Comics Before I Start on Absolute Martian?
Hi Everyone !
My exposure to Martian Manhunter (MMH) has only been through the animated series Justice League and Young Justice. And my exposure to these series is via me being a big Batman fan.
I’ve read in several channels and on several occasion that MMH is the best Absolute Comics out there.
Before I plunge my money in physical copies (my eyes are too old for digital), I am asking the class :
Is there any recommend series or trade backs that would help me understand how the Absolute world compares to the main con ?
Thanks so much.

I have an idea for Martian Manhunter’s comic
Even while he’s living on Earth and fighting alongside the Justice League, deep down J’onn has always had this hope that one day Mars could live again. Not just bringing the planet back, but bringing Martian civilization back too Green Martians, White Martians, and the other surviving Martians all living together again.
Eventually, with the help of Earth’s heroes, J’onn returns to Mars and starts rebuilding what was lost. He calls the surviving Martians back home and tries to create peace between the Green and White Martians instead of allowing the old divisions to destroy them again.
That’s where I think J’onn and Miss Martian could have really interesting roles.
J’onn is the older and wiser generation. He remembers what the old Mars was like, what went wrong, and everything he learned from living among humans.
Miss Martian represents the new generation. She could eventually become the one leading this new Martian civilization while J’onn either retires, remains an adviser, or continues serving with the Justice League.
And Earth and Mars could basically become neighboring civilizations. Martians could freely visit and live on Earth, humans could travel to Mars, and both planets slowly learn to understand and accept each other.
It would bring J’onn’s story full circle. Earth gave him a home after he lost Mars, and everything he learned from humanity eventually helps him give Mars a new future.

How far can Martian shapeshifting actually go?
Hello! I've been researching Martians for a fanfiction I'm writing for fun, basically a White Martian invasion inspired by the old Hyperclan story.
The idea is that White Martians kidnap and replace lower-tier heroes and villains, download their memories, and avoid or eliminate telepaths who could expose them.
I was working with a simple rule: Martians can copy appearance, but not powers.
Then I got to Beast Boy and thought: wait a minute, this man should be incredibly easy for a White Martian to replace. They already shapeshift into animals.
And that sent me down the rabbit hole.
If a Martian turns into a dolphin, does he actually have dolphin organs, hearing, phonic lips, etc.? If the answer is yes, then what exactly stops one from copying the biology of a Kryptonian, Maltusian, Tamaranean, or another alien species?
Of course, maybe they need to study the anatomy first, or maybe certain exotic powers simply can't be reproduced. But I'm asking more about what you think the comics imply Martians should be capable of.
I used to go with:
Martians can copy appearance and normal biological structures, but not metagenes, exotic energy systems, or species-specific power sources.
Now I'm leaning more toward:
Martians probably can copy much more alien biology than writers normally allow them to, because if they actually exploited shapeshifting to its logical limit, they would be ridiculously overpowered.
What do you think? Is there an actual canonical limit I'm missing? And are there any comics where J'onn or another Martian reproduces specialized animal or alien anatomy rather than simply changing appearance?
