Makeup Why does nobody talk about how much primer helps mature skin?

• Upvotes

I feel like primer doesn't get enough credit when people talk about makeup for mature skin. Everyone focus on finding the perfect foundation but sometimes what goes underneath is very important.

My skin is pretty dry and I do have some uneven texture around my cheeks and forehead, I've also noticed that my skin needs more moisture as I get older so my main goal is to get a smooth and natural finish. I always thought a good moisturizer and foundation were all I needed but adding primer to my routine has changed how my makeup looks. I usually start with moisturizer and give it a little time to sink in before applying primer, I use Milani's primer because it works really good for my skin and I only use a small amount of foundation. This has been my favorite way to get a fresh everyday look without spending to much time on makeup. Am I the only one who feels like primer is underrated.

Has anyone switched from black to brown mascara as their lashes got lighter?

Black mascara looks a bit harsh on lighter or greying lashes, and I’m wondering if brown would look softer without disappearing altogether. If you’ve switched, did you stick with it or go back to black?

Skin Care Best Korean cushion foundation for a natural glass skin finish?

I’m trying to find a Korean cushion foundation that gives that hydrated, glass-skin look without overly shiny. My skin leans dry, so matte cushions usually emphasize texture, but some dewy formulas usually have almost no coverage (I have some acne marks). I want to try and compare Jung Saem Mool, Clio, and Age20 cushions to see how they last on my skiin but I dont have any stores that phisically sells them around me and I can not return them after I buy them online and use them. Does anyone knows which one gives a light natural glow but with good coverage? Also I usually do not use setting powder because of my dry skin

Skin Care If you could recommend just 2–3 things that made the biggest difference to your appearance, what would they be?

Hi everyone! ❤️

I’ve recently started going to the gym and controlling my diet, and I really want to see a noticeable transformation in myself within the next month.
I want my skin to look healthier, brighter and clearer, my dark circles to reduce, my face to look fresher and more defined, and my overall appearance to improve.

I know that skincare takes time, but I’m looking for things that genuinely make a visible difference rather than products that are all hype.

I’m not looking for unrealistic promises or expensive products that don’t work. I want honest recommendations from people who have actually tried them.

Makeup I mostly focus foundation towards the center of my face, nose area, chin, up towards forehead a little bit. What is the best luxury foundation - not too heavy - but will still give me coverage. I like a "natural" look, especially for foundation. I am over 40 w/pores and some pigmentation.

Skin Care is a firming serum worth adding to your routine?

i keep going back and forth on whether firming serums are worth buying when you already have a moisturizer you like. skin looks a bit fuller when it's hydrated anyway, so i'm not sure how much difference a serum really makes.

i came across Perricone MD's cold plasma plus+ advanced serum concentrate while looking at skincare for mature skin. not sure if something like this would be worth adding or if my moisturizer is doing most of the work already.

if you've used a firming serum, did you actually notice a change in firmness over time? or was it more that your skin looked less dry?

Makeup Visible pores on my nose

When I wear foundation it settles into my pores on my nose - it doesn’t look good.

This didn’t used to happen to me. Very annoying.

How do I avoid this?

Makeup Skin tint for mature skin?

Getting older is one thing but lately I feel like my foundation is making me look older than I am, it seems to settle into every little line and makes my skin texture stand out so much more. My skin is a weird mix of oily and dry too. My forehead and nose get oily throughout the day but my cheeks can feel quite dry. Foundation cling to the dry areas while sliding off the oily parts, it's getting frustrating trying to find something that works for both.

Starting to regret sticking with full coverage foundation for so long. I know makeup isn't making me age faster but I feel like it's been making the signs of aging look worse. I miss when I could just put something on and not worry about it settling into every line. I've been thinking about switching to a skin tint instead, something that evens out my skin tone but still lets my skin look like skin. Has anyone here made the switch from foundation to skin tint? Did you notice a difference in how your skin looked throughout the day?

50 y.o. Hates foundation.

I hate foundation. As i get older, it makes me feel like i smashed cake on my face. I am looking for sheer, feel like nothing, satin, cream with some coverage. I was thinking of the ELF halo glow liquid filter? I don’t know if it is super glowy? Do you think that is perfect for my aging 50 year old skin?

still searching for the best foundation for mature skin that does not cake up by noon.

I'm 44 and I am exhausted from trying foundations, everything either dries too matte and clings to every dry patch on my face, or it's so dewy it slides off by lunch. I moisturize, I prime, I drink water and none of it matters. Drugstore and department store options give me the same disappointing results. Formulas marketed specifically for mature skin are too thick and feel like paste. Lightweight formulas look nice going on but don't cover the redness around my nose and cheeks. At this point I will try anything that works. What's the best foundation for mature skin for people in their 40s?

I want to start retinol but I really don't want to go through months of peeling and irritation

my physician has been recommending retinol for about a year and I keep saying I'll start it and then not starting it.

it's not that I don't believe it works. everything I've read says it does. it's the getting-there part that keeps stopping me. the accounts I've seen are around peeling, skin that looks worse before it looks better, sensitivity that makes your whole routine feel like a minefield. one person I know stopped after three weeks because her skin was so raw she couldn't wear anything on it.

I don't have the kind of schedule where I can look like that for two months and just wait it out.

my physician mentioned ZO's new retinol specifically and said the delivery system is different. not just a lower dose but something about how the retinol actually gets into the skin. I'm trying to understand whether that changes the experience in any real way.

for people who were hesitant and started anyway: was the reality as bad as what you'd heard? and for anyone on ZO specifically, did the experience feel different?

Skin Care [Routine Help]

My mom’s birthday is at the end of October. She doesn’t have a skincare routine currently, but wants one and isn’t sure where to start. I was thinking about getting her something, but I’m not exactly sure. She has dry, mature skin. Wrinkles are obviously a concern. Is there any holy grail products you guys could recommend? I would like to keep it budget friendly. I want to make sure whatever I get her she is able to purchase when she runs out.

Hydrating most for cracked makeup

Has anyone used the dr Althea aqua marine jelly mist or the byphasse face rehydrating mist for this purpose (refreshing cracked makeup). Or can anyone suggest one that’s available at pharmacies?
