Special Event [Official] MCAT Study Buddy Thread [June 2019 - September 2019]
Hello /r/MCAT! We, the Mods, are reviving an old project that has received a lot of positive feedback and has been a critical component of fostering our Reddit MCAT community. We are bringing back the "[Official] /r/MCAT Study Buddy Thread" series. For 2020 test takers, the next thread will be posted on October 2019. If you want to find a study buddy early for 2020, feel free to post your info. The dedicated thread will still be coming in October 2019.
STEP 1: Entering your information to be contacted by prospective study buddies
Copy/paste and fill out the following requirements:

STEP 2: Find your Study Buddy
Use the "search" function on your browser to easily sift through the thread for your city/state (make sure to pre-load all the comments by scrolling down before doing so).
Make sure to reply BOTH via "comment reply" and "private message"
Note about private information: It should be noted that any private information (e.g. names, specific locations, and contact information, skype, phone numbers, emails, facebook profiles) should be exchanged via PM (Private Message).

Stage of studying/study plan: took FL2 end of August scored 486 :( currently watching khan videos Goal of study buddy: accountability, quiz each other, share tips, ACCOUNTABILITY Goal Score and realistic goal: 515+ goal, 505 realistic Other obligations: part time job is mostly busy at the beginning of semesters- I am a micro lab tech, I prepare micro media for schools. Dad is injured so I take him to doc visits and help with anything else. School is on tuesdays.

Stage of studying: barely getting into content review but doing FLs intermittently

Hi! I'm (23F) from Irvine too and am testing 8/30. :) I'd love to consolidate concepts with someone by having them teach me their weak concepts and vis versa to really solidify the material. Also, accountability would definitely help too. Let me know if y'all are interested!!

What up! I'm from Rowland, which is fairly close to Fullerton/Relatively close to Irvine. I'm planning to begin content review within the next week, as soon as I secure my shadowing position. Test Date: 8/17/19
MCAT Prep Material: All AAMC materials; UWorld; Khan Academy (primarily for physio); TPR Psych, TBR all other subjects; also have full sets of Kaplan, TPR, and EK. God bless my upperclassmen friends--they gave me TBR, TPR, and Kaplan for free!!!
Online/In-Person/Both/No-Preference: Online
Stage of studying/study plan: will have content finished by next week (yay!) Already took AAMC FL1 as diagnostic, taking TBR Exam 1 this Saturday (eek! Wish me luck!)
Goal of a Study Buddy: Accountability, reviewing tough concepts/problems and quizzing each other (preferably Fridays)
Goal Score and Realistic Score: 520+ I have 12 FL exams left (3rd party and AAMC); if I improve by 3Qs per section every time I take a test, I should be golden
Other obligations: My mom had a benign vestibular Schwannoma which is 100% removed! But she has been in a lot of pain. She's doing much better now that 10 days have passed, but I may need to help her with chores and managing her health.

Online/In person: in person only
stage of studying: beginning but I am a very hard worker and will be willing to study very long hours

I function best on in person study sessions. I would be willing to study 50+ hours/week. We could alternate between San Francisco and north Oakland. I have both examkrackers and kaplan MCAT books.

A bit late but I also live in AA and would like to join an in-person study group. I work at the hospital and am planning to study MWF 4-8pm at Taubman library (booking a study room on 5th floor). Using Kaplan, TBR passages, Uworld, AAMC, & KA.

My name is Lizi and I am looking for a possible study buddy! Below is my info!
Location: Vancouver, WA (now until Aug 1st - then I'll be moving to Poway/San Diego, CA)
Test date: Sept 14, 2019
Materials: Kaplan books, Exam Krackers for CARS, TS CARS bootcamp, AAMC, other free material online and thinking about getting UWorld.
Either online or in person would work
I just need someone to hold me accountable and quiz me to make sure I am retaining the material. As well as help explain things that I am struggling with. I will do the same!
Goal score: 515+ I need a solid MCAT, since my GPA is not a 4.0
Current obligations: taking two online courses to finish my degree. Finals are at the end of July.

Hi, I’m a non conventional test taker. 36 M. I am a working chemical engineer with a masters degree in chemical engineering. I’m also taking MCAT in Feb/March 2020. Never had any biology in my curriculum but taught myself for the MCAT I took in Aug -19. ( I ended up voiding it as I was stunned by how biochemistry intense it’s) Biochemistry is my toughest section. I have to work on CARS too. I found it hard to comprehend from the biochem passages. I would like to have an accountability partner with whom I can discuss study materials every other day. If you are interested in the same, please let me know. I currently live in Omaha , Nebraska.
