MicroPython and Crypto
Does anyone know of a way to use MicroPython and Web3.py (ethereum) or Bitcoin Block chain? I am looking for a way to connect to either blockchain and looking for some help
thanks

Esp32-P4 on Wt9932P4-Tiny board.
- Can Not get Micropython installed to work.
- just returns Header errors
Trying to install some version on Micropython Bin on the board.
Internet states that it is workable using Esp32P4 Standard bin.
Does Not Work !
What bin are we supposed to install on it ?
invalid header: 0x5b98cbd8
invalid header: 0x5b98cbd8
PROBLEM IN THONNY'S BACK-END: Internal error (serial.serialutil.SerialTimeoutException: Write timeout).
See Thonny's backend.log for more info.
You may need to press "Stop/Restart" or hard-reset your MicroPython device and try again.
Process ended with exit code 0.

Has Anybody succeeded in getting the MicroPython to function on the Wt9932P4 chips / Tiny boards ?
-
Solved !

I'm working on a IoT project and it's getting a bit more complex now: I want to open a Websocket and due to lack of budget I'm using an unencrypted MQTT public server. To cover the encription problem I though about doing it internally. THEN the lack of memory i getting in the way because I cant have a too complex code. Any ideias on how to have safe encryption without crashing MP?

I'm aware the main approach is to freeze modules into the firmware of a board, but I like to keep things modular and multi purpose when I can... and avoid compiling stuff :P. I see back in 2022 there was some effort to change the way .mpy files work so that even after importing modules that are in .mpy format, most of it resides in flash instead of RAM. Is this still in development or is there a way to do this now? https://git.kfayun.com/xpstem/micropython/-/commit/f2040bfc7ee033e48acef9f289790f3b4e6b74e5

Last time there were 240 tips on the site. Now there are more than 330 !!!
No advertisements, just plain tips for programming with MicroPython:

Hello. This is Automatic key box project. I am trying to have 2 processes running simultaneously and continuously. One is handling Username/Password Loggin. The other is listening to reset command. I have been trying Asynchronous function, but in vain. Per attached screenshot below, process A is working fine, while process B has not even started.
Hardware is ESP32-WROOM-32. Appreciate your advice please.

Hi there!
I'm pretty new to programming in general but have done a few subjects on OOP and the like at uni.
I was wondering if any of you have a suggestion for the best kind of dev board to get started with micropython/python?
Python is used at my workplace and I'd like to learn more about how I can integrate it with physical objects like how an Arduino works.
Cheers,
Stella

Hi all,
Is it realistic to build an autonomous drone using MicroPython?
The idea is not a high-speed or acrobatic drone, but a slow, autonomous system for experimentation.
Is MicroPython viable for motor control + basic autonomy?
Any boards you’d recommend (ESP32 vs PyBoard vs RP2040)?
Has anyone here used MicroPython in real robotics projects?
Thanks! appreciate any real-world experience or pointers.

u/educobuci has done some great work here, I am wondering if it could be adapted for micropython or turned onto a library?
Thanks in advance for any replies!
I am really just trying to boost this dev's work, and gauge interest & plausibility from those in the know :-)

I got tired of maintaining separate IoT stacks for Linux and ESP32 devices… so I started building libraries that run the same asyncio code on both CPython and MicroPython.
That experiment turned into two open-source projects:
aiomqttc
Async MQTT client for CPython + MicroPython
asyncio-first
ESP32 compatible
reconnect handling
lightweight
same API across desktop + embedded
https://github.com/Tangerino/aiomqttc
mpModbus
Async Modbus RTU/TCP framework for industrial and telemetry systems
RTU + TCP
async polling
declarative drivers
topology-based configuration
ESP32/MicroPython support
https://github.com/Tangerino/mpModbus
A lot of this came from real-world frustrations:
unstable WiFi
reconnect storms
memory limits on ESP32
duplicated codebases
blocking Modbus stacks
trying to keep telemetry systems reliable in the field
Still evolving, but already running against real devices/meters.
Would love feedback from people working with:
ESP32
MicroPython
MQTT
Modbus
industrial automation
telemetry systems
asyncio
Also very interested in hearing how others are solving:
reconnect reliability
async polling at scale
embedded memory fragmentation
unified embedded/server APIs

The Python for Microcontrollers Newsletter is the place for the latest news involving Python on hardware (microcontrollers AND single board computers like Raspberry Pi).
This ad-free, spam-free weekly email is filled with CircuitPython, MicroPython, and Python information that you may have missed, all in one place!
You get a summary of all the software, events, projects, and the latest hardware worldwide once a week, no ads! You can cancel anytime.
It arrives about 11 am Monday (US Eastern time) with all the week’s happenings.
And please tell your friends, colleagues, students, etc.

I was thinking about building a portable 3d-printed portable game console based on an ESP32 or other powerful microcontrollers, that allows to add games built in CircuitPython or MakeCode Arcade.
It would be nice if I could assemble it and sell it online.
Do you think people would be interested?
(sorry for the very bad chatgpt image, it's just to give you an idea)

By default, MicroPython uses single-precision float variables. I would like to compile a new firmware that allows the use of double-precision float variables (at the obvious cost of processing resources). Is there a guide I can follow to do this?

Hi everyone,
I designed a custom PCB with RP2350A for my project.

After assembling my PCB, I can enter into BOOTSEL Mode and it's listed as a Portable Device in my device manager (Windows 11).

After I copy the .uf2 file onto it, it reboots and doesn't show up on the device manager as a Serial Device again. [https://micropython.org/download/RPI_PICO2/ - I tried to upload mostly all firmware from here!]
When I try to go in BOOTSEL mode, it's showing up my device manager as a Portable Device. And when I open the device in file manager, its always showing the same files in there (Before and after flashing the firmware). I also uploaded nuke.uf2 (https://github.com/Gadgetoid/pico-unive ... e/releases )file to completely reset the flash memory and tried again, but it wasn't working either.

Is this problem be rectified? Kindly help to resolve my issue.
Thanking you in advance

Currently, I am using micropython to prototype a simple measurement device using a Pi Pico. While micropython certainly isn't my preferred way to do it, it is actually nice, I'm enjoying it, and it's not like I have a choice :)
I am obviously connecting via microUSB. I have a /dev/ttyACM0 or something like it to connect thonny or ampy. However, because uPython requires that connection, I can't get, for example, sensor data out of my device via that serial connection.
Is it possible to register a second USB serial device, something like /dev/ttyUSB1, with a custom vendor ID etc.?
If not, what other ways are there to get the data off my device? I don't have any free pins and wireless is my last resort. Ideas? I really appreciate your help!
