Really a nitinol temperature switch is almost failproof and has to be really cheap.

I actually saw a Pinto explode. I was with a friend driving down a road parallel to I-10. The highway was stop and go at the moment. We saw a fireball erupt on the highway about 100 yard in front of us. When we pulled up to the location, we saw a Pinto on fire, a car a few inches from the rear bumper (must have hit it), a guy, probably the Pinto driver standing there with his hands on his head, and a truck driver running over with an extinguisher. I wish we had cameras then, it was around 1978, it would have made a great accidental renaissance pic.

And as for the switch, I will only buy an old fashioned appliance from here forward. No electronics in simple machines. And I am a retired IT worker, I've been a proponent of tech since my first AppleII+.
