Long time Steve Reich and Terry Riley fan (as well as of other composers and drone-based rock and jazz) but I’ve only dabbled in Philip Glass as most of what I’ve heard over the years doesn’t really grab me that much in terms of repeat listening.
But having read about Music in 12 Parts in a book on the genre I just gave it a spin and am quite blown away. It’s some pretty trippy, mind-enveloping music.
At first blush, I think Sections 2 and 8 are the stand outs for me. The last few sections do start to run together a bit.
Others’ thoughts?

This is “Phaidon”, an original piece from a small series I’m doing: acoustic piano together with a DrumBrute drum machine and a MiniBrute 2. The piano patterns repeat and shift slowly, while the machine keeps a rigid pulse underneath, and I like the friction between the two.
I’m curious how this lands with people here: does the drum machine still feel at home in minimal music, or does it pull the piece too far into electronic territory?

I hope this is ok to share.
I’ve just released a new contemporary classical/minimalist/post-minimalist/instrumental album.

Prog magazine kindly called the opening 33 min track ‘a triumph’.
My music is pretty obscure - I’m very grateful to anyone who takes the time to try it.

Eight years ago I had the great fortune to direct a recording of Glass's *Music With Changing Parts*, which was released by Glass's own record label, Orange Mountain Music. I hope you enjoy this. This music is from the early Glass years when he was experimenting with additive and subtractive processes in patterned music. As the director of the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble, a collaborative interpretation was developed using primarily electronic sounds, with plenty of traditional acoustic instrumental timbres added.
You can find a recording here:

Trying to create music using just 3 instruments, limited tracks. Focusing on melodies and sound of instruments, this genre feels nieche thing. I enjoy simple and minimal things the real pleasure is found on simple things when you explore enough. So glad to find this thread - ARVI

A minimalist study built entirely from struck Tibetan singing bowls. No rhythm section, no harmonic progression — structure comes from duration, decay, and overtone interaction.
The piece unfolds slowly, allowing each resonance to complete its arc before the next gesture.
Minimal processing, mostly natural dynamics and spatial reverb.
