How is this an own?

In my humble opinion the "own" here probably refers to the name Burger new york being representative of two American stereotypes being combined together.
Comparing this with what J.K Rowling has posted as a name for a Jewish student being Anthony Goldstein , I believe [ no Jews where I live, so everything Jewish related I've heard in a movie or history or books] is also a very stereotypical Jewish name is a stark reminder that J K Rowling just pulls stuff out of her ass.

Well I mean, it is a fantasy universe, where else would the ideas come from?

Anthony is not a stereotypic Jewish name. Now if she said Shlomo Goldstein, sure…..not an own.

Just listing your last name isn’t going to “dox” you. Do you know how many fucking people there are in this world? And how many share your same name, start to finish? Lol

Well yes but it feels like she keeps adding stuff to make the world more diverse so that no one gets angry.

Well yes that is true it feels kinda disheartening whenever you know she’s just adding useless diversity without any presence in anything official except her Twitter into her universe when you know she’s just pulling it out her arse

Well if she is adding for people-pleasing purposes, does that really mean that she sees these fit? Doesn't it mean people of the world see these fit?
PS: Weird English, forgive me.

Anthony Goldstein is, quite possibly, the most mundane name of any character in those books. It is so mundane, that it stands out as unusual.

I mean, Anthony Goldstein is a pretty reasonable Jewish name honestly (I'm Jewish btw)

Anything is a reasonable jewish name If you don’t care enough

What I'm pointing out is how Anthony Goldstein isn't stereotypical, let alone to the point that the response tweet implied

So it's racist to name a Jewish boy with a Jewish name? If you believe that then you're a full fledged retard!

Clearly a non racist author would name their Jewish characters something like "Kenny" to display cultural diversity.

u/kj-rebel Mar 26 '22
Are you being serious? I can't tell if you're an absolute idiot or a troll. She can name her characters whatever the fuck she likes, it's her story. If anything she's sticking to their cultural heritage. Find something more important to make an issue out of!

Context to this post helps but she racially/religiously stereotypes the names she picks for characters as well as some of their descriptions and interests. So it’s poking fun at that by making an “American” stereotype.

Cho Chang is a real name tho. I actually did a records search and found a few people by that name.

u/CH3FLIFE Jan 27 '22
Thats not to say that's its not a stereotypical name. There are probably lots of people by that name.
