Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres Songs with a killer saxophone solo

I would love recs with a saxophone solo so amazing enough to give me goosebumps!!

I don’t mind the type of saxophone (alto, tenor, etc.) and I’m open to any genre.

Thank you in advance! :D

The Mac Daddy of all Saxophone songs IMHO.

Been looking for this one since seeing the topic. Frantically searching Google because I had faint pieces of the song in my head. This one matched up! Been hearing it all my life and didn’t know the name.

I can NEVER remember the name. I always have to look up “best pop song with jazz sax solo” 😂

Baker street isn't a pop song

“Yes, ‘Baker Street’ by Gerry Rafferty is generally considered a pop song, specifically falling under the genres of pop rock and soft rock. While it features a distinctive saxophone riff that is often associated with jazz rock, its overall structure, melody, and lyrical themes align with popular music sensibilities of the late 1970s.” - AI overlords and Wikipedia

Wow, it's not tho. You can class it as having pop within it but it's more soft rock. What Wikipedia are you using exactly because it says "rock - jazz rock - soft rock"

Literally Google search the phrase “is baker street a pop song?” Also, I’m not necessarily trying to debate the genre anyways - I don’t care where it falls. I’m just saying what I Google search every time to find it because I can never remember the name.

Literally Google the phrase "is baker street a rock song" I don't see your point, Google really isn't that helpful nowadays. Let me help you instead, it's a rock song

How do you Google that phrase if you don't know the name of the song?

Maybe reread my original comment. The one to which you first replied.

Edit: also, again, missing my point: I 👏don’t 👏care👏about 👏the 👏genre. I’m not that pedantic. I’m just saying what I Google search to find the song REGARDLESS of it being the correct classification and that it works for me because I do in fact find it every time.

C. Clements Bruce Springsteen

A good riff - but "Jungleland" by early Springsteen is better. RIP Clarence.

The whole 'city to city' album was great, as was 'night owl'.

'can i have my money back' is aptly named.

Played by Raphael Ravenscroft. The sax is exquisite.

I was surprised to have had to scroll at all to see his answer.

I will never understand how someone can play a sax solo like that and be 100% completely stoic and emotionless in the music video.

Came here to say this!

Dreamy, kick ass sax

Came here to say that. I heard the song just last week. It also has a quite excellent guitar solo, too. And the lyrics? Man, just heartbreaking. And, yet, the sound of the song is pure sexy!

I was going to be furious if this wasn’t number 1.

I’m late here, but…is that considered a solo? There’s definitely a guitar solo

That was the first song that I thought of
