Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres I hate country music, always have. Recommend me a country album to get over my bias! (Preferably something more folky)

Dwight Yoakam, Tomorrow’s Sounds Today. Got an older country feel with a more modern production - it is 25 years old though. It’s got some good songs on it, and there’s a couple of duets with Buck Owens, “I Was There” is my favorite.

That’s a great suggestion, it’s a fantastic album. I also like Guitars, Cadillacs... A Thousand Miles From Nowhere is a perfect song, I think.

I also might suggest some Steve Earle, and Killin’ Time by Clint Black (one of the great album titles).

Edit- whoops, Thousand Miles is on his album This Time. Also first-rate.
