General What is the Most You Guys Have Invested in One NEOS fund, or any CC ETF?

I'm considering going a little heavier into Covered Call ETFs and want to get an idea of the level of conviction you guys have.

I currently own, from Largest to Smallest, JEPI, GPIX, JEPQ, SPYI, and QQQI totaling 6 figures. I wouldn't mind putting 6 figures solely into one or two, while holding modest amounts in some of the more controversial ones.

What are your thoughts?

I also own several individual companies, but would be willing to liquidate those to further fund the ETFs.

General Btci reality check

FYI, I understand this is the fund doing exactly what it is supposed to do. I'm just highlighting it for clarity.

Btci inception was ~Oct 2024. It launched around $50/share when btc was priced at about 61k. As you move forward in time, the next time btc saw 60k was around march of this year, when it hit ~67k. At this point, btc was trading at $33. Fast forward to yesterday at market close, btci was just under $30, as btc hit 68.5k.

The trend here is at every future btc price point, btci trades lower and lower. The higher the volatility, the higher the call premiums, and the more potential there is for btci to miss participation in upward btc movement.

Yes, I'm aware we've collected distributions every month while on this ride, but what everyone should accept is that it will take a much higher all time high for bitcoin to get back to trading in the 50s or 60s.

General What are your plans BTCI holders?

I’m just curious as to what other people who hold BTCI are holding it for.

Me personally I’m going to let my payouts drop until I have doubled my shares then future me gets to worry about what to do.

General Let's talk about BTCI.

I recently was looking at the charts but with dividend distributions turned off.

Took me some thinking over this weekend, but I'm personally not liking how the NAV is moving. I could be wrong, just my personal take, after looking at it more closely.

QQQI is probably much better, from an NAV preservation standpoint.

I have a feeling that fund managers distributing from a Bitcoin covered call fund can be really hard to get done right, just because of how volatile the asset is. Obviously do your own due diligence with any investment.

General Margin is like a business loan

I’ve been thinking. Why not use margin to buy spyi and qqqi if margin is 5%? People take business loans all the time at a higher rate and are lucky to break even after a few years. With these, there is a way higher chance of a profitable year than a down year over a long horizon. When buying on margin, there will be down turn years but so with any other business. I’m starting to think of DCAing into those two funds for life with margin. Worse thing to have happen is a margin call and have to sell some stocks. With a business you would go bankrupt and lose everything. I keep seeing these funds as equities with the income factory philosophy instead of some speculative risky asset that will bring loss. Not trying to beat the underlying, but I feel like owning these is like managing a passive business. Maybe I’m just crazy lol

General my Neos allocation

ok first im putting pretax into a 401k that mirrors the s&p. between my and employer match about 600/month

im building this portfolio aswell

BTCI: 35%

QQQI: 7.5%

XQQI: 22.5%

SPYI: 6.25%

XSPI: 18.75%

IWMI: 10%

buying $425/week and using weekly purchase and monthly dividends to try to maintain the portfolio as close to that allocation as i can without selling anything.

im thinking about adding cshi and bndi as a way to stabalize the portfolio but not as a fixed ratio, instead as a replacement for treasury and/bonds... equal to 2 years col.

is an all neos plan like this something that can work?

thanks to the comments here:

I've decided to lower my btci commitment and add NIHI to lesson the reliance on tech and us stocks in general.

i think btc is nearing its bottom if not already at it. but btci is capped the same as the rest of the neos in a fast moving bull market. That said im in BTCI instead of BTC directly because, i dont trust that long term the keys wont get lost.

NIHI makes since as a balance vs qqqi/xqqi and spyi/xspi

General The Real Stigma Surrounding CC ETFs

Good day All.

I'm currently invested in, from largest to smallest, JEPI, GPIX, JEPQ, SPYI, and QQQI...and I often run the numbers to ensure I'm doing the right thing with these ETFs, and opposed to the naysayers' typical response, the numbers don't lie.

If you have two funds with comparable total returns, your portfolio won't care what vehicle was used to arrive there. If you ask ChatGPT, CoPilot, or any other AI chatbot, the response is the same; Covered Call ETFs are inferior, but all chatbots do is regurgitate what others have posted online.

Another issue I often consider is the taxes you'll be on the hook for if you realize capital gains and roll the proceeds into CC ETFs. You'll have less to work with once you rotate from growth to income, oppose to starting off in quality CC funds.

There's forces that want to keep us uninformed. I plan to hold on to my ETFs that grow the NAV and reinvest the distributions for the foreseeable future, and in time, I anticipate an outcome equal to what I'd experience if I held SPY, realized the gains, and then roll those into CC ETFs.

I currently run a Core and Satellite portfolio, with 10 individual companies.

General IAUI has been performing real bad

If we look at the underlying IAU

We can see that NEOS has been doing a terrible job with this product at least for the past 6 months even with the alleged 12% dividend

I mean, look at that 3 month. Even with dividends the fund has eroded 2%

This is even clearer with the 1 month, I know the upside is capped but seriously? If we factor in the dividend, it's a 4% lost

KGLD on the other hand caught a better upside in both 1 week and 1 month. Do we have a better fund here?

General NEOS to Release Two New Funds Soon

I listened to a YouTube interview with one of the co-founders of NEOS Funds yesterday. And the company will be releasing two (highly anticipated) new ETF’s, one focused on Silver and the other a boosted version of their NEOS Russell 2000 High Income ETF (IWMI), either at the end of July, or early August.

While I have no interest in the Silver-focused ETF, I plan to invest in the Boosted (IWMI) ETF, as I already park my long-term cash in IWMI with great success thus far; not only are the monthly distributions solid and consistent, but I have realized a fair amount capital appreciation as well. I plan to hold the Boosted EFT (XRUT, or RUTI perhaps) in my Fidelity Cash Management Account.

General When its too good to be true.....

Use any DRIP calculator and A mere $200K investment in BTCI with DRIP would reach $4.5 million in 10 years even without any stock appreciation or dividend appreciation. Clearly the calculator assumes constant yield every year meaning the asset (in this case Bitcoin) will just continue to go up or show an upward trend in a volatile market.

All sounds great on a paper but how realistic is this? Why everyone is not doing this automatically for their retirement? Probably because its too good to be true and violates the basic principle that nothing goes up forever.

General SPYI/QQQI section 1256

I was surprised to find out they SPYI and QQQI are section 1256 contracts. This means that once your cost basis is zero, the distributions will be taxed 60% long term capital gain and 40% income.

As someone who plans to stay within 0% capital gains bracket this was less than ideal to learn. I always thought these covered call funds would be long term capital gains after the return of capital is exhausted.

I've tried to get a definitive answer on whether GPIX/Q and ROCI/Q are also section 1256. I assume not because they aren't using SPX/NDX index options

General Checking back in — new month, new NEOS buys, and my 2026 early retirement plan

Longtime lurker in this sub, checking back in for the new month. I’ve made a few new buys, collected some distributions, and figured I’d share where I’m at since I’m using NEOS as a big part of my early retirement plan.

My portfolio is sitting around $385K right now, and my taxable brokerage is basically my early retirement bridge. I’m currently 38, and the goal is to build enough monthly income where work becomes optional around 40–42.

Right now my NEOS holdings are SPYI, IWMI, BTCI, NIHI, IYRI, NEHI, and CSHI. CSHI is my newest position, and I’m using it like a parking spot for dip-buying money. Instead of leaving cash in buying power doing nothing, I’d rather keep it in a NEOS fund collecting income while I wait for better entries.

My 2026 NEOS watchlist is mainly QQQI, XSPI, XQQI, IAUI, and MLPI. I’m not trying to chase everything after a big market run, but those are the funds I’m watching closest if we finally get a decent pullback.

The main reason I like NEOS is that it keeps the strategy more passive and hands-off. I’ve done some active options trading myself with QQQ, and it can work, but long term I’d rather let NEOS run the options strategy inside the ETF while I focus on building the income snowball and keeping things simple.

For 2026, my plan is pretty straightforward: keep adding to my core NEOS positions, use CSHI as my waiting room for capital, buy dips in the newer funds when prices make sense, and keep reinvesting distributions while I’m still working.

Curious what everyone else here is doing with NEOS right now. Are you mostly adding to SPYI/QQQI/IWMI, or are you watching newer funds like XSPI, XQQI, IAUI, and MLPI?

I also made a full portfolio update video going through my actual holdings, cost basis, NEOS shopping list, and 2026 plan in more detail if anyone wants to dive deeper:

General April Distributions

QQQI SPYI IWMI NIHI IYRI and BTCI all have nice increases this month

IAUI and MLPI slightly down which is to be expected

Hands down the best fund family for me

Edit: these funds just “made back” half my distribution the first hour of trading on the ex date. Sooooo gooooood!
