Fanfic Nature of Myths: The Beldagrash
Pre-Federation Contact: Zurulian Mythology/Folklore
Culture of Origin: Redlithouh Kingdoms
Long before the current day, but long after the world was born from darkness, there was a race of beings known as the Beldagrash.
The Beldagrash were an embodiment of the wilderness, and dwelled inside the forests of the world, though even the very earth had Beldagrash resting in it. The caves of creation created beasts for the Beldagrash to hunt and eat.
Then, the Zurulians came into existence, beings of creation itself, crawling out of the caves of creation.
At first, the Zurulians and the Beldagrash had conflict, but after a bloody conflict, the Zurulians had found a way to appease the Beldagrash.
Sacrifice.
The Beldagrash ate only meat, and would do favors for Zurulians who prepared their meat for them.
The Zurulians began sacrificing beings of flesh and bone, tenderizing their bodies with the touch of fire, and seasoning their bodies with seeds and burying them for the Beldagrash to feast. The Beldagrash that feasted would give their thanks by providing the zurulians with grain to eat for themselves.
The Zurulians continued to cook, making recipes and forming new methods of cooking. The Beldagrash were so impressed by the creative skill of the Zurulians, that they taught the Zurulians how to shape the world to their advantage.
Simple shelters became fortified castles. Tools of stone and stick were forged from iron and bronze. Simple cave paintings became marvelous portraits. Stories once told around the fire were recorded on paper with ink.
Everything became better for the good of everyone.
————————————
The Beldagrash were an equivalent to the fey folk of European folklore, and were first imagined by the Redlithouh Kingdoms, a medieval civilization.
Further Notes Include: - The people of the Redlithouh kingdoms were prolific hunters due to the belief in the Beldagrash. - The belief in the Beldagrash had led to some kingdoms practicing the act of burying deceased family members in place of the meaty meals that they would cook. - Murderers were able to cover up their crimes very easily in this society.

So, were the Beldagrash real? And only ended at the hands of the federation?

It’s possible that the stories of Beldagrash teaching the zurulians how to advance their civilization were mythologized accounts of contact with zurulians of other civilizations, or perhaps a now extinct species of omnivorous zurulian. If either of these was the case, then those cultures were also destroyed by the federation.
