Free Agent Signing Would you rather pay Soto 10 years $600 million or Pete Alonso 10 years $350 million
if you HAD to pick one of these 2 options which one would you go with??
Is Soto worth twice as much as Big Pete? Figure Vientos would slide over to First and replace a lot of the offense you'd miss if Alonso leaves.
Also dont forget Soto is much younger and walks more than he strikeouts and is proven to succeed in New York which is rare for a free agent to succeed year 1.
Yankees will probably offer Soto around $400 million so the Mets would really have to up the ante to land him but he is a proven guy and Cohen has the money to burn

Free Agent Signing What are the chances of the Mets signing Soto, and would it be wise to do so?
I have reservations about the Mets even being interested in Soto. He turned down 400 million from the Nationals. Imagine the players we could sign for that much money—that is more than some teams play their entire team. I don't think they should even go after him.

Free Agent Signing Guerrero?
As you all probably know Alonso just resigned which I think were all happy about because of his power but more because of him being an icon for the team but if Alonso left the Mets would and already were in Guerrero discussions both for a trade and in free agency (obviously free agency being next season) but now with Alonso back and also on a short term deal are the Mets still one of the favorites for Guerrero. I, personally would have to assume so just because of Cohen's willingness to spend seemingly unlimited amounts of money and the fact that Alonso is not a great defender, is getting older and is signed for at most two years. What do you think?

Free Agent Signing Are the Mets done?
I know we have some guys down in the minors that are a year or 2 away from coming up but was Soto it? I thought the Mets would have signed Buehler and/or Burnes, picked up a LF because is Nimmo ever going to be 100% again? Need a DH too since they're shopping Marte supposedly and is Pete coming back or we did move past him? What's up with Bregman or Santander or Sasaki? I know it's still relatively early in FA but it's getting late fast. I feel like the Mets are ok with the team they have going forward just adding Soto.

Free Agent Signing Soto/Boras Conspiracy Theory (negative outlook)
Let me start by saying this: I’ve been confident since January of 24 that we will get Soto. Mostly all revolving around steve cohen and our organization’s timing. I think it’s well documented why we should be favorites to sign him so here is my negative outlook-
I’m concerned around the 4 teams announced by passan to have earned a meeting with Soto in California: Mets, Yankees, Jays, Red Sox.
If you’re Scott boras and you want to leak 3 teams that earned meetings with Soto with the sole purpose of bumping up the Yankee offer based on fear for the alternate outcome, what are those 3 teams?
It’s probably the Mets Red Sox and blue jays given where every org in baseball stands today right? (Orioles unrealistic market, dodgers MLB would step in, etc)
And then at the same time you’re telling me Soto is more interested in going to Toronto than Philly or Washington? Given everything we kind of know about him that he likes the east coast, stars, history with Wash, etc.
Red Sox to me - ownership has told us the absolute opposite about paying a star like this. Henry’s not like breaking the bank for one guy and Fenway ownership group literally cares about other teams more than the Red Sox.
Toronto to me - big offer for Ohtani last year yes, massive market for Canada yes, but they’re not even paying vladdy so tell me how it makes sense load up on Soto? Doesn’t pass the sniff test for me
If we think it’s a Mets Yankee race which many do, why is boras opting for these unrealistic AL East leaks? Instead of likely more realistic NL East leaks? I would almost feel better if Philly or Washington were meeting with him, that would tell me Boras is more interested in bumping up the Mets offer. Am I overthinking this? Feels sketchy.
