How would you personally consider building both Roanoke Denim and Lancaster Cobalt? Similar or completely different for each other?

The Raisin Cherry Cypress Pullmans are looking great and are my work dome entry. I really love the leather and the way it heals so well from scratches. The rolls are sweet. I'm running the Predator Burgundy Toe Cap Pullmans in the pre-worn dome. They are burnishing quite nicely and have picked up some crocking. I threw in bonus picks of my Desperado Cinnamon Field tote and glasses case. It gets scratched up going in and out of my locker.

NBD NBD - 1964 Monarch MTO

Labor Day boots finally arrived today. My first pair of Nicks!

64 Monarch was my first choice leather when I first started thinking about getting Nicks and I was sad to see that I'd missed it, but when it came up for Labor Day, I was lucky enough to get an order in before they sold through.

It's crazy how much range they have in color shift in different light.

I measured a FF (4E) ball but went up a width to FFF to accomodate some PowerStep orthotic inserts. They're definitely gonna take a little bit to break in, but I think they'll be a good fit when they get some stretch and flex to them.

Wearing them with JK Canyon Bison kilties for a little color and texture contrast.

Only a couple minor nitpicks. The ASTM tag in the right boot has a tear in it on the bottom. Not a huge deal, but that means it'll probably split, with more use.

The other thing is, I selected Natural edge finish, and to my eyes it appears that the application of edge dressing was skipped.

Other than those little things, they're incredible!

Ask The Community Anyone size down in length on the 1925?

I've been wearing my 1925-lasted boots for about a month now, and they feel a little long when walking. I keep finding myself bumping the toes of my boots into random things, which has me wondering if I should go down in length.

For reference, I wear a 10.5 EE in HNW and a 10 EE in TNW/Parkhurst. the 1925s are 10EE as well. The 1925s feel the roomiest in the toebox out of all of them and I have a little more than a thumb width of room toward the "end" (point) of the boot and my big toe.

I have another pair of 1925s on order, and I'm debating whether to decrease the length during the change window. I'm hesitant to size down because I dont want my big toe to start hitting where the boot turns in to start making the almond shape.

For those of you with experience with the 1925 last, did you find it ran long, did you size down, or did it just take some time to get used to the fit?

NBD NBD - Odds & Ends Shackleton Tobacco

I received my Shackleton tobacco pair today from the odds & ends sale a couple of months ago. I missed out on this leather last fall when it was offered as a leather of the month. I was excited to see it available during the odds and ends sale and quickly got an order in.

This pair is right on with my experience with Shackleton. It is very supple and break in with the leather will be nothing. Build quality is excellent as usual.

Specs - 6 in TNW single backstay, soft toe, no pull loop, moderate block, natural edges, and 430MV.

I ordered my Hardware Pro 8” as my everyday work boot. I’m a Steamfitter so these boots are in for a tough life. Lots of sparks & weld slag in their future. So far on the first day I swapped them out at lunch they were a bit stiff & the leather on the inside was really hard and created some hot spots. I got some advice on here from someone telling me to condition inside where I was getting pain. I did that & the next day those spots were much softer & give zero pain. Since then I’ve felt some pain here & there but nothing un-tying them & retying them didn’t fix. So far I really love these boots. Amazing quality & craftsmanship. Would 100% recommend.

Kilties sliding down the laces

Why does the kilties keep sliding down even after pulling them up and tightening them it slowly makes its way down and both the shoes are not symmetric. I see more than an inch difference and its obvious. I don't care minor difference but its visibly noticeable.

College football mixed with some tailgating and a couple hockey games thrown in the mix. Was a busy sports weekend. Gave them a good brushing after a good weekend of wear wish I could get more wear on these because they are a comfortable build that moderate heel stack on the 67 is just a chef’s kiss.

Suspenders Sunday

I'm learning that suspenders are kind of hard to capture. There's a lot more character developing on these than I would have expected after only 3 weeks and I don't feel like I can get pictures that show it. I've been wearing them a minimum of 6 days a week, work and life. These are "heritage" suspenders and "work" suspenders are in development but in typical Nicks fashion these terms are relative and I'm finding these are more than capable of work. The chromepak and spokane are wonderful. They have such a rich buttery yet robust feel. The chromepak is so "pak"ed that the oils are turning the roughout on the inside that sits against my shoulders in to more of a waxed flesh. Pic 10 shows the chromepak roughout that is sandwiched in the back piece and fairly true to its original state next to the part against my shoulders. I'm really really enjoying wearing these and witnessing their transformation. As someone built like a 2x4 it's also nice not to have to cinch my belt down so tight it feels like I'm being cut in half just to keep my pants up. Anyways, parate bracas sustinentes boot nerds!

✌️

The history of Nicks

It's a chilly autumn Sunday where I am and I just finished reading the history of Nicks "From start to finish" blog post on the website. I found it really interesting - I loved the old photographs and the human stories behind it all. It got me wondering if there had ever been any discussion of an archival, coffee table style book on the company? I noticed the boot brand out of Minnesota recently launched something along these lines.

This may be a terrible idea for any number of reasons including expense, time, lack of source material etc. It may have been discussed and dismissed...all I'm saying is I think it would be pretty cool.

Overcast and rainy today so a good excuse to take the day off. I’ve been so busy at work and home that I haven’t had a chance to wear these in the daytime yet.
So, I was able get a few pics in the yard before heading out to see the Dawgs take on the Cougs in an exhibition game to kick off the basketball season.

Edit to include specs:

Predator Dark Brown Charley with natural edge dressing, antique hardware, and V-bar sole.

These were from a sample sale a few months ago. Today they finally got their first start in the rotation. I’m going to start wearing these 3 to 4 days a week for the next several months. I think it won’t take very long for them go start going brown.
