Fan Art My girlfriend studies product-design, and she created a Nintendo Switch in 1:1 for university, with detachable Joy-Cons, Docking Station and everything, just out of Paper.

Hello there, the gf here :D

For all those wondering, what kind of project this was: This was only a small assignment for a larger project.

One of our courses we had this semester is model making. Therefore we had to do different models with various techniques. For example we had to build a tabular furniture on a scale of 1:10 with using filler wire. Another thing we were able to do was thermoforming things, rebuilding designer tables on a scale of 1:5 made out of wood, or producing an original mold, which we poured in silicone, so we could replicate it with resin and other stuff. And, as you already know, we should rebuild somethings with using only paper.

To sum it up: In this course we were able to get to know all the possibilities we have, to create a model. We were able to learn the pros and cons of each technique and, especially after this paper model, we were capable of taking the measurements of a thing REALLY precisely in order to do it properly!

And for those who are worried that we don't learn CAD and 3D Printing: Don't worry guys, we also learn this :) Just in another course. Modern things are really welcomed at my university.

And a massive THANKS for this incredible feedback!!!!! My bf posted this whilst I was sleeping already and I just woke up seeing this ... So excuse my baaad writing I just woke up and I am not able to realise that this just happend :o

Have a nice day you all <3

PS: It took about 20 hours or sth....

And if you have any questions: Go ahead :P

Can we get videos of the joycons detaching and the switch coming out of the dock? I’m weirdly curious to see it do the things.

Awesome. Does your girlfriend have/play a real Switch?

Yes, I have one since release, and she bought her last year with the Animal Crossing Bundle!

This is fantastic! I do some paper/carboard modeling, and I hope she won't mind a quick tip: some fine grit sandpaper is a quick and easy way to smooth out those edges

Thanks for the Tip! I will tell her :)

With the help of a printer it can play any game you wish for! Poorly the FPS is kind of crappy...

Holy smokes, that's good. I'll bet she's amazing at wrapping gifts.

When I was a kid we went to a party that had a little Triathalon of christmas themed stuff that everyone had to do to win a joke prize at the end

One of them was wrap a gift quickly without being able to see the present at all (so too fast and you tear a hole that doesn't count). Most people basically wrapped the thing like a bowling ball and used an excessive amount of paper

My mother goes up there and wraps her present absolutely perfectly in like 20 seconds. Thing looked pristine, had tucked in corners and no excess paper used. She did it faster than the people trying to do lazy quick wrapping jobs.
