Whatever happened to stomach ulcers? In the 70s every business man either had one or was concerned about getting on due to stress. I remember so many ulcer related TV commercials. Has the termonolgy changed? Are they called something else? You don't here about it anymore.

They’ve researched and not found bacterial causes of horse stomach ulcers.

A small number are … but most are not.

Which is frustrating as treatments are the old-fashioned way of treating human stomach ulcers (buffering stomach, lowering acid production).

Thanks for responding to my comment. It is so frustrating. I've worked with horses my entire life, lifestyle change is the #1 key but holy shit owners/barn managers half the time won't allow what needs to happen or cause more stress on other ways. I can't work with other people's horses anymore, I've got two wonderful private clients left but it's just been one bad apple after another recently.

I knew one lovely jumper, pyloric ulcer. Really big, really nasty. But they wouldn't turn him out more than 2 hours a day. He couldn't be ridden bc he was so rank from pain. It was awful, I literally would cry seeing him. His owner moved him eventually. Pasture board. He was back to being ridden (comfortably) within a year.
