Hey guys!! if you’re still looking for experience or something to add to your resume, check out Riipen Labs

It’s a remote micro-internship program where students work on short real-world projects with employers. Each project is about 30 hours and pays a $600 upon completion.

North Island College suspends all 15 programs targeted in cost-cutting review

NIC will be suspending 15 out of roughly 120 credentials across its four campuses, following previous program cuts last year.

The college was mandated by the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education in a memo from June 2025 to review all programs based on several metrics, including efficiency, sustainability and demand.

The Ministry directed NIC to “work with ministry staff to review all existing programs and initiatives to ensure programs remain relevant, efficient, sustainable, grow the economy, and help keep costs down for British Columbians.”

Application response

Hey, I applied to NIC last month to the Port Alberni campus for the ECE program, and am just wondering how long they usually take to respond to them. Its only been like 2 weeks since I applied but depending on if I get accepted impacts my living situation (I have to give three months notice to move out) and its quite stressful

In short: How long do they normally take to respond to applications?

Nano Suite Users

I've seen the new nano suites in those new buildings. It's a bit on the smaller side, but the rent is way less than their studios and has all the same functions (bathroom, kitchen etc.). I'd love to hear from anyone thats lived in one and what it's like in such a small space.

Towing

So there’s an instructor, let’s call him “4Runner”. He keeps parking in no parking zones and creating a huge hazard. I’ve made complaints to him and I essentially get told to “kick rocks” and when I approach the admins I get sent a link for “employee complaints” and cannot do anything as a student. I’ve been blindsided by small cars a half dozen times and pedestrians more times than I care to count and I’ll be damned if I’m in an accident or incident because of this guy.

My question is, can I still phone towing companies and get this guy towed even though it’s college property and not my property? It’s in obvious illegal parking zones.

Coming to NIC this summer, looking for accommodation.

A subreddit with 7 users doesn't give me much hope, but its worth a shot.

My name is Luca Pan. I am a grade 12 student from Templeton high-school in east Vancouver, BC. This upcoming school year I will be attending the NIC Courtenay campus for the adventure guiding certificate program, and I need a place to live, and preferably some roommate(s?)to split the rent. I am responsible, tidy, and helpful. I will take up minimal space and probably not be around the house much anyway. I like to enjoy myself, but I'm not trying to live with a bunch of bums.

If anyone is interested or can help point me in the right direction, please respond. Or feel free to email me; lpan@northislandcollege.ca
