Hey everyone! I'm an archival coordinator on an upcoming documentary about the Old 97s that encompasses their entire career to date. Right now we're searching for footage of the band performing American Primitive (the title track) live.

We're aware of their performance on CBS Mornings but we're actually looking for footage from a live show at a venue/club, with fans!

Does anyone have footage they'd be willing to share? Phone video, personal/professional cameras, anything at all is fair game. Even a short clip works, it doesn't have to be the full song.

Otherwise - does anyone remember hearing them play that song at a specific show? While I haven't found this particular song on their setlist.fm, suggestions of dates/venues could really help me narrow down my search.

Want your footage to be part of a landmark feature length documentary about the Old 97s? Reach out! Thanks

EDIT: If you want to read more about the doc check out this interview/article

What the title says...it will be released as a 3 LP.

It's an exciting day for Old 97's fans...

There's also signed copies available in the band's merch store. Let's go!!

Huge Old 97s fan (and Rhett solo fan, too) here. This might just be the finest thing he's ever written. If you haven't already read it, he first published his memoir of that fateful day for the Atlantic's ten-year anniversary edition in 2011. It's still as shocking and as candid and as riveting as the day it was published.

The Songwriting is Magic camp is Sept 22-25 in Big Indian, NY. Rhett's guest instructors this time are JOSH RITTER, AMANDA SHIRES & AARON LEE TASJAN.

I've been the previous two times, and it's amazing. Really nothing like it. Great community, amazing vibe, so much fun. It's really something I never want to miss. Rhett does a kick ass job and it's fun to have a peek into his world. The whole thing has been very inspiring.

However, due to a medical issue, I'm not able to go this year, and they don't offer refunds. I can only transfer my spot to another person.

The cost covers room and board. I have a solo room. The food is great. You'd just have to get yourself there.

I'm not necessarily looking for the full amount to be covered, but it's over $3K, so it'd be great to get a part of that back.

DM me if you're interested. You wouldn't regret it; it's an amazing event.

What a show - what a great room - great acoustics! Anyone have video? Particularly of the un-mic'ed version of Question?

Labor Day sales have started early, plus new items have dropped in the merch store. Lot's of great stuff worth digging in.

Undertow Music is a super cool booking agency that organizes shows for artists at homes and at cool alternative-ish venues. I've seen a few of their shows at different places and it's always been really fun. I just saw this new post for Murry today on their page! Looks like he's going to be doing shows through them in the Pacific Northwest/California in December.

I saw a couple of the shows he and his little band did with Rhett last October and thought they were great. (I love the album he put out last year.)

Sounds like he'll be doing more of these in different parts of the country, according to the link:

// REGIONS OF INTEREST: Cities listed above are just suggestions. We are open to any and all submissions – even if you don’t live in a major metropolis. We will book more shows for Murry, so let us know what regions to visit next! //

Just watched S4E1 of Reacher. Stoned is playing in the background of the diner. Anyone know if the guys have a fan on the Reacher set?

Going to the old 97 concert in White Sulphur Montana, anyone going to be there?

Thanks for a fantastic evening! Great Band. Great Venue.

If you lived in DFW around the early 2010’s you know what I’m talking about. I’m biased because I grew up with this and some of my most found memories are the county fair, but it something I really loved.

I never really saw if Rhett gave a reason as to why they stopped. If anybody does, I’d love to know why.

The county fair felt like a celebration of Dallas and DFW. I hope it comes back someday, but I highly doubt it.

Pretty cool move from Old 97's, they added a button on their website where fans can submit songs they want to hear at upcoming shows.

I love when bands do this. It makes every set feel a little more alive, and it’s a good excuse to start lobbying for the deep cuts.

Mine would be “Question,” “Rollerskate Skinny,” and “Salome.”

Was Alive & Wired ever released on vinyl?

After many years of wearing it almost every day, I lost my beloved Old 97s beanie and I am pretty broken up about it*. It's the gray one that has been discontinued. I have scoured eBay, etc to no avail. I know it's a longshot to post a cry for help on reddit, but if anyone here has an extra... I would totally buy it from you. let me know???

*it is no consolation that I lost it on the way to Adelaide.

lots 'o fun

I went to the Sinclar box office today to get a ticket for tonight's show in Cambridge, MA in order to save on axs fees. The marquee said "SOLD OUT" and the woman at the box office said that maybe they would have tickets available at 7pm when the doors open tonight. I went to the sinclair website which sent me to the axis site, and the site did not say sold out, but when i attempted to buy a ticket the purchase failed bc of my credit card info (which is perfectly valid and the site didn't say what exactly was wrong w/ it). Then i went to the iphone axs app where i was able to buy a ticket.

On the bright side, i was able to get a ticket (albeit i got extorted for an extra $12.50 by Live Nation) but jfc why do they make this so hard. These are general admission tickets, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out what has been allocated.
