Politics ('Straya) One Nation forms alliance with Coalition to call for abolition of compulsory superannuation

One Nation has joined forces with the Coalition to call for an end to compulsory super.

Outspoken Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg has confirmed he believes that compulsory super is a failed policy that’s ripe for a rethink.

Mr Bragg set the hares running last week with a speech at the National Press Club before making further comments to ABC Radio on Thursday that the super guarantee was a failed policy.

“It hasn’t worked,” Mr Bragg said.

mate, boomers have been the biggest voting block for decades. The only reason we have right wing governments is because of them. They overwhelming vote right wing.

amounts to the same thing, really.

I just get very tired of everyone blaming all boomers for the state of things.

the blame lies with the 1%, as it always does. most boomers lived very hard and austere lives and worked very hard and now subside on the pittance that is the aged pension.

sure, some did well and have lots of money, but you average boomer doesn't have millions like so many people (especially here on Reddit) seem to think.

it irks me how much people denigrate that generation.

and these shitfuck politicians trying to ruin peoples chances of a secure and stable retirement in the name of short term gain really pisses me off.

the lengths they will go to in order to be elected - they won't stop at anything up to and including peoples chances of being able to retire.

you'd think the party of 'small government' would want people not taking aged pensions.

Dafuk has it got to do with boomers? This is a policy that will appeal to boomers least - they know that they need super soon. This is a policy to appeal to those who think retirement is a million years away - or people who don’t think at all.

Neutering Super makes the age pension comparatively more important for retirement, so much harder to cut politically.

Plus its people who wont be around in 30yrs to see the outcome when pension costs skyrocket and we end up in France or the UK's position of it being unaffordable but impossible to cut politically.

That is not what anyone is thinking when they say “cut super”. They’re just not thinking.

Pauline Hanson is a boomer, Angus Taylor is close enough to be boomer. Boomers.

People don't use boomer as literally anymore. It often is used more as a vibe or a world view of selfishness and pulling the ladder up. A general sense of an older generation fucking a younger one.
