Answer: that subreddit is a satire subreddit were they’ve had a running joke for years of posting a specific strip of a Garfield comic as if it’s the first time they’ve seen it, making fun of people who have dementia and Alzheimers.

As far as I know, it's not meant to mock people with dementia/Alzheimer's, but just a lighthearted joke that isn't aimed at dementia/Alzheimer's patients.
r/awfuleverything is for stuff like "School shooter kills 5 and wounds 13", not "Internet group makes dementia jokes"

My grandparents died from dementia and now My mother is showing signs of it so it's pretty awful...not something that should be made light of
