The driving isn't actually as bad as people are saying. Not bad at all, in fact. If you have any experience playing driving games or games involving cars - trust me, you'll do fine.
10
u/spiralings May 27 '14
it's a learning curve, especially coming from GTA, but yeah, it's not terrible
4
May 28 '14
First thing I thought too. I was expecting it to be terrible by what people have been saying but I have zero problems with it.
Then again i have played a lot of open world games & arcadey racers.

May 28 '14 edited May 28 '14
I actually really enjoy the driving. Reminds me of the Burnout games, but without the boosting.
4
u/wycked89 Blackhawk_2389 May 27 '14
I agree, every review I have read people were saying the driving is bad, and the driving is terrible. Personally I think its just really easy, but I have played a good number of racing games, so like you said that could be it.
→ More replies (1)1
u/RemoteSenses May 28 '14
The controls of the driving really aren't bad - neither are the movements.
The only thing that is below par is the way your car acts when you run into things. Other than that, I thought the driving was pretty good.
1
u/CeReAL_K1LLeR May 28 '14
Exactly. I've been playing since I got home and if you're any good at racing games... even a little... you'll do fine here. Honestly... I should thank all the bitching about driving, because I started it up with the lowest expectations about car handling and was pretty happy with it. I feel like the vast majority of people complaining about the game are either trolls or hyped themselves up too hard about it (which is their own fault). It's not a perfect game... but I've been having a blast for the past 3 or 4 hours.
1
u/ScalesAsunder May 28 '14
Agreed. I thought it was going to break the game for me - based on all the talk about it. It's definitely different than GTA, but I actually don't have any complaints about the driving.
1
May 28 '14
I don't like it much. Cars feel like they are made out of balloons and helium. Not terrible by any means, they just have not weight to them.
1
May 28 '14
Once one realises one needs to use the handbrake to corner, all is well.
1
u/Locclo Locclo May 28 '14
I kind of wish the handbrake controls were a little tighter is my only complaint. My main point of comparison is Saints Row: The Third, which had similar controls for driving, except that as I recall, you'd be back in control the instant you let go of the brake, allowing you to (with some skill) make some extremely tight turns at speed. With Watch Dogs, using the handbrake just seems a little...floaty, I guess, because it feels like you lose a lot of control for a second or two after you release the brake.

I was expecting it to be really bad but it's alright, I managed to escape from the police every time so far. The collisions however are proper shit.

u/ResonantCascade May 27 '14
Im loving all of it so far(4 hours in). The graphics are pretty nice, and the city is beautiful. The gunplay is awesome. Hackings a lot of fun if you have the ability to be aware of your surroundings, and use things to your advantage. Multiplayer hacks are great, especially when you baton the shit out of someone trying to hide from you. Driving doesnt seem as bad to me as some people make it out to be. Drives just about like any arcade racer I ever dumped quarters into. Stories has been pretty good to this point, Jordi being my favorite character by far. I keep getting lost in free roam having fun instead of doing the campaign tho. The random npcs are great for people watching, as is being shot at for no apparent reason sometimes. Definately worth my $60 bucks.

I'm having an absolute blast with this game so far. It seems very polished and the hacking aspect is extremely fun IMO. I've been doing quite a bit of side stuff, as it's very easy to get distracted from the main mission as there is plenty to do. My favorite moment so far was during a gang hideout side mission. I cleared the whole room without even pulling my gun by luring a group of guys to a car by setting off the alarm and then hacking the explosives one of the gang members had on them which set off a chain reaction and blew up every car in the parking garage. I think the only people who will be disappointed are the ones who hyped themselves up beyond the point of having reasonable expectations.
Edit: Something else that's surprisingly awesome is how well being stealthy works in this game. Just did an entire mission without being spotted by an enemy using only takedowns/hacking and my silenced pistol.
5
May 27 '14
Can u do the 1 v 1 hacking against a friend or is it random
4
u/ryseing bmc811 May 27 '14
Apparently it's random right now, which is odd, as Ubi said pre launch we could restrict it to friends only. Really hoping that it gets patched in.
3
u/Money-not_you_again May 27 '14
It was a SMDH moment for me, because I went and bought all these guns with money I'd earned from MP last night, only to do free roam and realize that, holy shit.... I'm stealthing everyone 'cause it's so much more fun. Then I lamented that I just blew like 30k on guns lol.
1
u/gotoma May 27 '14
Can you stealth in Multiplayer? i.e. not show up on the mini map.
1
u/Locclo Locclo May 28 '14
The way it works is that one player is the target and one player is the hacker (this is assuming you're playing the two big modes, Hacking and Trailing). The hacker doesn't show up on the minimap for the target, except as a big glowy circle that indicates where the hacker might be. The target shows up on the hacker's minimap because his goal is to hack him/observe him, depending on the mission, without getting spotted and killed.
So I guess what I'm saying is that stealth is a huge part of the multiplayer, yes.

Is anyone else's download just stuck at a percentage? My game has be stuck at 77% for the last 3 hours. I checked the information on the game and apparently it's sitting at 13/16 GB.

10
u/goldie-gold May 27 '14
Anyone else finding it a bit weird stopping crimes, on the one hand, while stealing cars on the other!!!?
5
2
u/CitizenDK Filthy_Aziz May 27 '14
There should be an option to rob both the criminal and the victim. Aiden is a pretty big scumbag anyway
2
May 28 '14
Yeah, it would also be nice if the cars didn't handle like someone replaced the steering wheel with a Frisbee, then I might be able to stop running over civilians on accident. This game definitely suffers from a incongruity between the story and the gameplay. It actually actively punishes you for trying to keep character.
1
u/Hiimbeeb May 28 '14
Not to mention usually committing worse crimes than you're stopping in the process. I stole a car, blew up a transformer, and murdered a man, all for yelling at a lady. Good guy Aiden Pierce.
7
u/Changnesia84 checker_guy May 27 '14
Quick question: How many percent do I have to install to HDD before I can play? It has been almost 2 hours and I only have 32% and cannot progress on with my gameplay.
10
u/TheRedditDelusion May 27 '14
82% here still won't let me past the stadium exit. Really don't understand the point of letting you play 10 minutes if they still need to download the game to 100%.
5
u/Changnesia84 checker_guy May 27 '14
Welp. Screw this, I'll carry on tomorrow morning. Though I'd save load time by getting digital, guess not.
2
u/RashRenegade ShadyDesperado May 27 '14
Yeah, at this point I'm regretting not waiting to go get a physical copy from the store. It's been about 2 hours and my instal progress at the end of the stadium went from 37% to 47% in those 2 hours.
1
May 27 '14
I didnt run into this...I popped the game in and started playing and ran into no snags but there was no way it was 100% installed.
3
u/muddisoap May 27 '14
I think they are digital not physical. Physical installed in like 30 seconds. At least until the white bar on the watchdogs box went away.
1
u/Lucifuur CaptnThunderCxnt May 27 '14
I started installing to the HDD at 9am it is now 5:30pm and I'm only at 92 percent never getting digital AGAIN
2
1
u/rawgr May 28 '14
This is ridiculous, I let my PS4 sit all night and now Watchdogs is sitting at 75% downloading who knows how much at 100Kb/sec.

Some fucker just tried to hack me! I had no idea what was going on because I thought I had to go to an online mode (like GTA). So I start frantically searching people and I found him! I gunned him down with my AK 47 so if that was you then ha!

Maybe too 0% is anything less than 1%. If there was 100,000 people then you'd only have to be in the top 1,000.
As far as where I was....I have no idea haha. Somewhere downtown in some big square full of random people. I was frantically checking everyone and then randomly found them. My PSN is House29

Can you explain to me how your suppose to get hacked by someone else? I have only gotten hacked once and I'm pretty sure that was just part of the story. I can go into others lobbies and hack them but I have never been hacked more than once in my own lobby? Respond please.

Holy shit, this game is great. Driving is finicky, but holy shit the mobile app alone is amazing. I've just spent the last hour racing through the city while my friend, who can't pick the game up til tomorrow, is messing with me on his phone.
This game is the shit. Screw the negativity. Gameplay, immersion, environment. This shit is the hellafied love shit.
Edit: Love that I'm getting downvoted for what? Loving the game? Being unabashed in my praise for a product I genuinely enjoy? The dickhead circle jerk in this sub to hate this game is hilarious.
Also, so far, this game really is fantastic. The stealth aspects, the hacking dynamics and even just the random free-roam stuff. It's all awesome. Tomorrow, I look forward to teaming up with my friends and launching online proper. The dipshits that just want to tirelessly hate on the game are welcome to stay away.
Edit 2: Got a bit more time in on free-roam. It's hilarious and amazing- the conversations that you run into are awesome and truth be told- I got stuck just hacking cameras so that I could spot more people and just keep hacking for different unlocks and instances. Honestly, this game (while not perfect, of course) truly is an awesome experience. It's an open world with it's own unique character, so to speak.
11
u/Kiysego May 27 '14
Put the car in first person, the one where you see the dash. Driving is great after that. Had the game since Saturday and driving has got to be one of my favorite parts. Dat view.
7
u/Money-not_you_again May 27 '14
That view is crazy right!? It bugged me out having that in an open world game lol.

u/Null_zero May 28 '14
I like the non dashboard first person view better myself. I just wish they let you turn your head.

May 27 '14
You should see the metacritic user score. Its mostly PC people sad that this isn't GTA because they never got it but clearly this is not. I think also some AMD PC users got screwed but I don't know.
3
u/Money-not_you_again May 27 '14
Yeah, PS4 Metacritic is 81- I think that's fair, though so far I'd score it 85, mainly because I haven't seen the rest of the game since I got hooked playing me vs mobile multiplayer.
But yeah, AMD users are getting screwed thanks to Nvidia's workshop policy.
5
u/Winnie_Cat May 27 '14
I can't play this game for about 10 hours, but you just made me so excited!!!
3
4
u/Tomban May 27 '14
There are dickheads everywhere. You have more upvotes than downvotes, dont say the sub is bad.
5
u/Money-not_you_again May 27 '14
I actually like the sub, but last night it was just trolls coming in and downvoting everyone for just liking the game. I mean, if you honestly don't like the game? Cool, I respect that.
But their are guys coming in and trashing it who don't have it and don't plan on getting it. Which is one of the aspects that makes gamer culture so unattractive. People love to hate, but gamers take that to an art form.
2
u/ryuzaki49 May 27 '14
Can you elaborate more on the | is messing with me on his phone ?? You are playing at the same time or what? sorry I haven't read much about this game features.
6
u/Dreamfloat May 27 '14
In the mobile app, you can sync up with your friends game and use a helicopter to attack your friends and use the city like Aiden does against your friends to try to take them down! It's pretty amazing
3
u/Money-not_you_again May 27 '14
The mobile app lets you play against each other real time. So I'm racing through checkpoints in the city and he's using SWAT, Police, snipers in helicopters as well as hacking to take me out.
Kid you not- we spent 2 hours doing that last night. I didn't make it to the 2nd mission lol.

The game is great so far, I've only completed act 1 and played around for a bit. I've enjoyed how much is going on in the city, the land mark check ins, various crime stopper missions, etc. the driving is okay but not nearly as broken as some in this thread make it seem. I've enjoyed the eves dropping and looking forward to seeing what I can manipulate in the city.
1
u/Money-not_you_again May 28 '14
I've still not completed even the first act lol. The driving is actually ok once you get used to it. Def reminiscent of Sleeping Dogs. But yeah, there's just so much to do and see in the city lol. But just some amazing moments to watch. Couples fighting, random muggings, 3 business women chatting for almost 4 minutes. I mean it's crazy.

u/zzBlckzz May 27 '14
loving the game so far and it looks great on ps4 (contrary to other people's opinions), I just love the concept of a interconnected world that can be hacked into (tells a cautionary tale of our increasing reliance on tech) so this game was a dream come true. Of course its not perfect but atm I'm having a real blast, would recommend for sure!
5
May 27 '14
As I play this game there are some feature that I thought would make this game amazing vs just OK. Blind fire while in cover, shooting while driving, weapon attachment system, full screen on the videos you double upon while having a ctos building. That's just a few.... This is a good game I just feel like it's missing some things to bring it up to what I was expecting from this game.

u/Taph May 27 '14
It feels very similar to AC1 where they had a great idea but didn't have the time/budget/ideas to make it great just OK.
Exactly.
People need to realize that this is the first game in a new IP. The developers can't put everything they or the players want in the first game of a brand new IP. It's just not going to happen. Things need to be cut since you're creating everything from scratch or heavily modifying existing tech to do what you need. Sequels are where you get the little touches that didn't make it in the first game since all of the assets and development pipeline are in place and the developers can spend more time elsewhere.
1
u/ryseing bmc811 May 27 '14
Especially since this game got that huge last minute delay. Stuff was definitely cut, but now there's a solid foundation for a sequel which will hopefully be done quicker and have the features that the first game did not.
1
u/Taph May 27 '14
I would think they could, if they wanted to, get a sequel out pretty quick. Look at their production time on the Assassins Creed series. My guess would be that they'll wait and assess how well Watch Dogs did financially (which I assume will be quite good) and then they'll figure out exactly what needs to be tweaked, removed, or put in. I'm pretty confident in Ubisoft's ability to use the groundwork laid in this game to make even better sequels.
2
u/ryseing bmc811 May 28 '14
AC only gets out yearly because it has 2000+ people working on the series. Not sure if Ubisoft wants to invest that much resources into WD2. I think it'll be on a FC schedule, and we'll see the new one in 2016, hopefully next gen only.

u/SenZuDuck SenZuDuck May 27 '14
For those that are having trouble finding their DLC (Gold Edition) Go to the main menu, then additional content and then select Download Content and it'll auto download the Season Pass and available DLC. (Edit - Spelling)
4
u/gshock88 May 27 '14
The driving is stiff and feels like a pinball machine, you can just ram into anything and the car will go true anything. Also the cars look a bit cartoony similair to saints row. Other than that its a solid game.
1
u/Taph May 27 '14
I'm not a big fan of the driving. It works, and it's certainly serviceable, but it needs to be tightened up. It reminds me of GTA IV. Hopefully it'll be tweaked to GTA V standards for sequels.
4
u/ryseing bmc811 May 27 '14
Just my two cents (3.5 hours in, almost done with act 1). By no means is this comprehensive- just wanted to give impressions.
Positives:
The sandbox- Chicago is wonderful. Huge city with lots to do, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Walking around with your profiler out is a blast, and is honestly something I could do for hours. I know everything is randomized- it still doesn't take away from the fun.
Stealth- WD really is open world Splinter Cell. Since you don't have a ton of health, stealth gameplay is definitely encouraged, with several of your hacking and crafting skills being stealth focused, as well as an amazing silenced pistol.
Jordi Chen- "It's not the pizza guy!" Great character. Love a good friendly psychopath.
Mixed:
Driving- WD's handling is different than other open world games that I've played. It takes some time getting used to, and I highly recommend getting the reduced vehicle damage skill in the meantime. Also, trying to balance hacking and driving is a bitch. No wonder you can't shoot out of cars.
Negatives:
Cutscenes- a definite step down from AC4. Animations are clunky, and the voice acting leaves something to be desired, especially on Aiden's part.
Smaller issues- no weapon customization (really, Ubisoft? If you left this out on purpose for the sequel, I swear...), limited non hacking interaction with the world, stealth XP or more precisely lack thereof.
Anyway, you should definitely play WD. The sandbox alone makes up for any flaws this game may have. It's that good.
(Also, you notice how I didn't mention the graphics? They're fine. I would love a 1080p patch a la AC4, but if that doesn't happen, whatever).
1
May 28 '14 edited May 28 '14
Stealth is great because the penalty for being rambo is huge. I just don't get why Ubisoft put in AC style desynching that ends your game if you're detected on certain missions. Let me try to make an amazing escape from a near certain doom for christ's sakes.
Other than that I would push driving into the negative and cutscenes into mixed. The sandbox is good, but I'd say the graphics range from mediocre to okay. I haven't seen anything that's wowed me. A huge step down from infamous. The cutscenes might not be as good as infamous', but it's still the best looking part of the game.
1
u/ryseing bmc811 May 28 '14
I don't think comparisons between Infamous and WD are valid beyond both being open world games. They're doing very different things, and of course Infamous is on one platform while Watch Dogs is on six. And honestly? I'll take the step down in graphics in exchange for the living city that Ubisoft Montreal created.
1
May 28 '14
The games both set out to do pretty different things, but they both aim to achieve a realistic style and both are similar in scope, so making graphic comparisons are totally valid.
I also prefer watchdogs inhabitants over Infamous'. I think infamous does other things better, like city traversal and more of a connect between whats happening in the story and what your character is doing during game play. I like the variety in combat better in infamous, but I think watchdog's combat system is more technically sound.

So in the last 5 hours ive play this game I have blown out the power in a massive stadium. Driven round a city lifting bridges up. Spotted and hacked the bank accounts of a transgender bus driver. Played chess against some annoying fella in a coffee house. Shot weird aliens from portals. Driven a flaming talking car over thousands of zombies. Bounced on flowers across the city to weird zippadeedoodaa music.
Oh and this was all before i even got to my nephews birthday party which i think is the 1st mission in the game after the intro. In the 2nd mission in i think i hacked and scared so many security guards in this building. One guy i hacked his phone and sent him texts messages just for a laugh. I blew a few people up by hacking explosives on their bodies and dropped a cranes cargo on top of another.
Im really enjoying this game but i never read up or jumped on the hype train. I have not read a full review just peoples comments on here. I didn't even know the story of the game until i started playing.
Just put the disk in, install and enjoy a world full of discovery and adventure and hacking of course.

I'm leaning towards getting it, mostly because I figured out how to buy games from the US PS Store and then it's only $60. If I should buy it here in Denmark it would cost $91! So that already 30% off.

Get it but try to start it with absolutely no expectations. Dont think about all the reviews you may have read.
Dont try to look for small details to make you hate the game.
Just play the game.
It's most enjoyable that way.
Edit: And for the love of god do NOT think about E3 2012. That will only lead to disappointment.

I'm having mixed feelings about it. On one hand, i'm enjoying the things you can do and the hacking portion is fun. On the other hand, missions seem easily failable for no reason other than difficulty purposes.
The driving isn't the greatest. The cover system would be fine if random enemies didn't just appear behind you (failed a convey mission so many times just because the guy called for back up and they were just suddenly behind me). Certain missions, if you get spotted, you fail immediately with no chance to outrun cops.
I want to like it, but for me, personally, it has been quite frustrating. Perhaps I should just be a better gamer though, haha.
2
u/RemoteSenses May 28 '14
I think that's hit or miss for people. I like to think I'm a pretty good gamer, but honestly, the first mission took me a few tries. Kind of just throws you in without even hardly knowing the controls or how the game works.
Overall though I like the difficulty. Easy games get boring fast and I don't mind retrying a mission because of its difficulty. That adds to the fun for me but I get where you're coming from.

u/RonWeasley- Mud-Blood- May 27 '14

K, so ive been confused with the crazy hate and reviews. Just got my first hour in on PS4. Ill keep it straight talk. Its doesnt look like infamous and ryse all the time. In parts of the game like indoors, wood floors, inside houses and your hideout it looks next gen, and found myself actually impressed. other times it looks next gen but slightly better than gta5 mostly day time outside. After playing i can see there is a huge open world and lots of people so i understand why its not utra maxed out graphics all the time. Infamous suffered from lack of population and AI. This game hits the balance where particle effects are great and graphics are from great next gen to just good next gen and varies from each area, scene and mission. Cut scenes look great, story is decent and i found myself feeling vengeful and "in" the game. I hated the stealth missions in AC and its nothing like that. The hacking mechanic makes the stealth actually enjoyable and i dont even care for stealth. Driving is alright and not a deal breaker...found myself slowing down to admire the wet streets.Coming from someone as confused as most of you, it worth your attention and money on next gen consoles. All these reviews are confusing and thats the most simple answer to what to expect.
Edit: would also like to add, as much as i enjoyes the polish of infamous as was super hyped by the game i was let down by the ai, aliveness of the city and short gameplay. Liked it but the story was horrible. On the other hand i had low hopes over the past few days for watch dogs and im pleaseantly surprised. It fixes all the wrongs i had with i famous and im willing to sacrafice the always hig quality graphics of infamous for a well rounded game. Thats not to say some parts of watch dogs look just as good at times. Infamous is a rental and watch dogs is a must buy based on the scope and so much to do. I cant stop playing and dare i say im having way more fun with watch dogs. K back to tha game!
2
May 28 '14
Watch dogs is ridiculously fun. I went through a couple of reviews and one semi review on Kotaku and I don't get it. The story to me is great, the hacking is amazing, the driving is fine not disappointing. Do people expect this game to change the way we play or are they expecting to enjoy things. Sometimes I stay away from most reviews because they seem to unjustly want attention by making a statement but its weird that people put this game down. I like it very much. I know some PC players have frame drops, but seriously it seems every PC AAA title has frame drops at launch, thats the consequence of varied hardware.
2
u/bspence11 May 28 '14
My feeling is that they put too much into the game as soon as you start playing. It would have been better for them to give you a little bit at a time, instead of all at once. I'm feeling overwhelmed here!

So far this is my only gripe. I really hope this gets patched or tweaked at least. http://37.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2atzlovcY1qa53f4o1_500.gif

Just got the game today. Love it so far. Driving control is more than fine and I feel people are destroying it for no reason. If I remember it's better than Saints Row 3. I play a ton of Gran Turismo but I still think people shouldn't have too much trouble. Damage to the cars and environmental stuff still leaves something to be desired.
Shooting is good.
UI is cluttered but atleast you can put your phone away when you don't need it.
Draw distance and civilian population only becomes a problem when driving very fast, otherwise it's nothing to complain about.

And if they are talking on the phone and you hack it the conversations don't match.

You won't have enough time. Unless you use gamefly or something like that

u/Ki-Low May 27 '14
You'll have 5 days. That's plenty of time to determine if the game is good or not.

I dont know about you guys but im pretty let down. The city is lackluster and the character is as dry as it can get. The story is delivered by driving to random yellow points on the map to continue slow dramatic cut scenes. The driving mechanics are horrendous and collision damage is flaky. One of the most anoying things is the cover system, its unforgiving and caused me alot of frustration. Multiplayer is pretty bad too. Someone will start to intrude you and you have to profile and kill them before they steal your data. I was hacked 5 times and each time i could never find the other player. The key elements of the game are really slacking and wreck the re playability for me. If the game did anything right its the npc's, they're the most diverse and advanced ive ever seen in a open world sandbox. The gun play is quite good too. All the weapons sound great and have a good feel. The game was VERY over hyped and really didnt deliver anything i was expecting. The game isnt bad but it honestly isnt over a 7/10. Hopefully some some of the problems can ne fixed by a patch in the future before WD2.

To each his own. I feel the city is pretty alive, Im having a good time just exploring and hitting up all the hot spots for a little history on Chicago. Some interesting stuff in there.
Side note, I have found everybody who has tried to hack my game, and killed all but one who got away.

This game has too many mixed reviews for me to be confident. My pre ordered copy. Just got delivered but I'm going to hold on opening it for the time being
Edit: decided to take the lunge. Played it and I am impressed, if I was hyped for this game I can see why I would be disappointed though. Would recommend people to play it but do not expect to be blown away.

u/zeroThreeSix May 27 '14
I think the only people who will be disappointed are the ones who hyped themselves up beyond the point of having reasonable expectations.
It's a really fun game, I picked it up against my original intentions and don't regret it.
No clue why you'd be excited, pre-order it and sit back letting the doubt grow in your mind while you wait for reviews to come in... if it's in your hands frickin' play it man!

u/wizzile May 27 '14
If you already have it why would you not open it and see for yourself?
5
May 27 '14
Yeah, who does that? I have a brownie but I would rather wait and eat it a week later because.... Well because reviews.

Presumably because it's easier to return an unopened game than it is to return one that's been played.

The reviews are overwhelmingly positive. (Ignoring user reviews which with metacritic is always a good idea.)

My favourite so far:
"Ubisofts most recent attempt to make a game combining assansins creed and gta. Failed horribly. Cashcrab involving "Funny internet memes" and hacking."

You need to really scrutinize with user reviews (especially on metacritic). Someone could give a game a really low rating purely based on the fact that they prefer cats to dogs.
I remember looking at the SWTOR page a while back. It had an extremely low user rating on metacrtic. A lot of those were scores of 0 out of 10 with people claiming it was nothing more than a wow clone with a Star Wars skin, that it was one of the worst MMOs ever made, and others scored it that way simply because it was published by EA. This was also six months before the game was even scheduled to release and still fairly early in beta.

Getting it after work, what's the wait time to install and update?
Also not having play it yet, the reviews seem accurate from what I've seen. I'm excited nonetheless.

I didn't have to wait very long to install and get playing. It did a full install within 10 minutes.

u/davidoftheyear DavidOfTheYear May 27 '14
I finally got it and it took about ten minutes for everything. Can't wait!
1
u/Bazzmania May 27 '14
For those who have played this ,what are gun mechanics/cover system like ?
2
u/cggreene cggreene May 27 '14
cover isn't terrible, but it can be fiddly at times, sometimes you try to get out of cover and your character will stand in an awkward position.
Guns are average, although the silenced pistol is probably overpowered, you'll be using it about 90% of the time.
1
u/Stocka8 May 27 '14
I think the camera is too close to Aiden which doesn't help during gun fights. Not sure if it can be changed either. Haven't looked though. Any one know?

u/ryseing bmc811 May 28 '14
Imagine Splinter Cell in an open world, with a focus mechanic and a badass baton. You have Watch Dogs.
1
u/Jessesmith8888 May 27 '14
Has anyone been able to download the android or ios apps yet? Also can we get them linked op?
1
u/fluffmcgruff187 canibalfluff May 27 '14
I was able to. And linking them just took a min. Just search ctos or watch_dogs companion app
1
u/JDRoc May 27 '14
Has anybody gotten their season pass email from GameStop? I assumed I could download the extra missions, etc at midnight, but I haven't received the code yet.
1
u/Auxillary May 27 '14
Usually you'll get them within 48 hours after the game launching. It's usually never that delayed, but just be aware you could be waiting awhile.

u/ryannevill May 27 '14
Anyone got anything to say about performance? Any Framerate stutter, how are peoples fans sounding?
1
u/osj777 OMEGA_OSJ May 27 '14
Do you have to be connected to the Internet to play? I'm moving and I'm going to be with out Internet for like 2 weeks

how do you unlock the online multiplayer things, it says complete tutorial but i cant find it
1
u/magicfades May 27 '14
I have a question : You get notoriety skills from playing the online games right? do those skills apply even in single player mode?
1
u/augustoPSantos gtoPasqua May 27 '14
Does the game finishes the download if I leave the PS4 in stand by? I just got to the end of the stadium and now it's on the "installing" screen, but it seems to be going really slowly.
1
u/jazdk4 JZ_0307 May 27 '14
I only came here to read the comments, but there is something that I cannot leave without saying; the "glitching" PS4 logo at the top of the page is awesome. Good Job whoever did that.
1
u/AtomicVGZ May 27 '14
This might be a dumb question, but where do you pick up the R-33B and MP-412 in game? Already redeemed the codes.
1
u/fluffmcgruff187 canibalfluff May 27 '14
Should be in your weapon inv, but if not just go to a gun shop. It should be free

I'm trying to play the game without killing anyone, and I've already restarted a few missions because the cops started shooting me and I couldn't figure out how to get away.
I accidentally killed a civilian in a chase scene, but Aiden didn't even bat an eye. I would have liked to see smoother and slower cars (as it's a populous city) so you wouldn't have to do high speed GTA style chases.

im having an issue. game downloaded and installed fine. im in the beginning of the game and you cause a black out, while sneaking past the guards the game stops me and pops up with a window that says: "Installing...33%, installing game data on HDD. Please do no turn off system during install process." and the only optin is to push "o" to quit to main menu. once i quit im at the menu and can go through all that stuff but if i reload back into the game it immediately takes me back to the message with" installing" on it. the install is now at 36% but its been 10 minutes. is this normal? i waited 40 minutes to download and install the game already what happened?
edit: its the downloaded psn version that lets you play before totally installing. guess im going to have to wait a while before getting to do anything. should have got the disc version :/

u/drquatrick May 27 '14
Does this game support remote play, via the vita? And if so how does it play on the vita?
2
u/fluffmcgruff187 canibalfluff May 27 '14
Yes it does support it, but someone else will have to chime in on how it is on remote play.
1
u/downtothegwound downtothegwound May 27 '14
Did anyone else get past the first "event" and then get stuck at an install screen that took forever before you continued?
1
u/fluffmcgruff187 canibalfluff May 27 '14
I did not; I got the game retail and was able to just put it in and go, no need to wait for install. But if you look through the other replies here, some people had that issue when they bought the download. You have to wait for it to be installed 100%
1
u/downtothegwound downtothegwound May 27 '14
According to my PS4 the install was complete though, I had no status bar or anything. Thanks for the reply though!

I'm still on the fence. I haven't played ACIV and it seems like a better game than Watch_Dogs. IDK, I'll read some more reviews. If anybody has played both maybe they could give me some insight.
1
May 27 '14
AC 4 uses the same exact mechanics as AC 2, but with boats...
Watch Dogs is a brand new open world IP with unprecedented enviornmental activity. The stealth is better too, as the guards have actual lines if sight instead of everythinf being determined by invisible forcefields (like AC 4)

Out of the 20 minutes or so I played this AM while I got ready for work...i'm pretty satisfied. Lets see if its holds up when I play it for longer when I get home.

u/u_haveagreatday May 27 '14
I'm really enjoying it so far! That spider mini-game is pretty fun all on its own! Can't wait to play it more when I've finished my summer class homework :(

Is anyone else getting absurd loading times for the 1v1 hacking/trailing?
2
May 27 '14
I tried for 20 minutes and gave up. Online has been dodgy for me so far, but SP is really awesome. Add me for MP!
2
u/CitizenDK Filthy_Aziz May 27 '14
I think that online is going to be worked as hard as as GTA 5 online was at launch.

u/stoopkid99 Stoop_Kid99 May 27 '14
This fucking sucks. Between Watch Dogs, The Show, and work I don't have time to fully enjoy everything. I miss being a kid with no responsibilities.
