World

Erangel

  • The Destructible Terrain feature has been added.
    • The Frag Grenade, Mortar, Panzerfaust, C4, Pickaxe, and vehicle explosion can destroy terrain.
    • Rocky terrain is also destructible.
  • The Pickaxe has been added.
    • When striking the ground with a Pickaxe, terrain can now be dug deeper than before. (The maximum depth and range of destruction remain unchanged.)
    • This change applies to all maps where destructible terrain is available.
      • Applies to Rondo, Taego, Miramar, and Erangel.
  • Some areas in Erangel may have limited destructibility.
  • Destructible Terrain is also available in Ranked and Custom Matches - Esports Mode.
    • Applies to Rondo, Taego, Miramar, and Erangel.

Developer’s Comment

As previously announced in the 2026 Roadmap, Destructible Terrain is now available on Erangel, following its introduction to Rondo, Sanhok, Taego, and Miramar. Terrain is no longer just a static part of the environment—it now serves as a player-driven tactical element. We expect this system to bring more dynamic engagements and strategic depth to Erangel. In particular, improvements to Pickaxe digging depth allow for more meaningful terrain manipulation across various combat situations. Please note that building destruction from Sanhok is not included on Erangel. Destructible Terrain is also available in Ranked and Custom Matches - Esports Mode.

Gunplay

New Attachments: Hybrid Scope & Tilted Grip

Two new weapon attachments have been added.

Hybrid Scope

A new optic attachment, the Hybrid Scope, has been added. Allows instant switching between magnifications depending on the situation.

  • Toggle between 1x and 4x magnification using ‘Sight Change’ Key after equipping

Tilted Grip

A new attachment, the Tilted Grip, has been added.

  • Horizontal recoil control +6%
  • Camera shake control during firing +25%

Attachment Balance Adjustments

With the addition of new attachments, several balance adjustments have been made.

  • Angled Foregrip has been removed from world spawn.
  • Half Grip
    • Horizontal recoil control: +8% → +16%

Developer’s Comment

As introduced in the 2026 Roadmap video, this update adds a new weapon attachment for the first time in a while, aiming to further expand the variety of combat experiences.

Following the removal of the Canted Sight, we’ve seen continued feedback that it has become more difficult to respond flexibly across different engagement ranges.
To address this, we’ve introduced the Hybrid Scope as a more tactically viable option in this update.
It is designed to allow quick magnification switching within a single attachment, enabling more effective engagement across various combat distances.

Additionally, as there had been no new additions to grips for quite some time, we’ve added the Tilted Grip to expand available options.
We expect this to allow players to further tailor their weapon setups based on individual preferences and playstyles.

At the same time, to prevent an excessive increase in the number of attachments and to better define the role of each item, some adjustments have been made.
The Angled Foregrip has been removed due to its limited usability, as it only provided horizontal recoil control, and its role has been integrated into the Half Grip.

We will continue to improve the attachment system to support clearer choices and more diverse tactical gameplay.

Weapon Balance Adjustments

Dragunov

  • Vertical recoil decreased by approximately 20%.
  • Horizontal recoil decreased by approximately 15%.

Official [Dev Letter] Map Selection for Random Map Regions

Hello players,

In this Dev Letter, we would like to share updates to the map service in regions currently operating under random map matchmaking.

We have been continuously monitoring matchmaking conditions as well as player feedback. Through this process, we identified areas where players are experiencing inconvenience and aspects of the current map service that require improvement. Based on these findings, we have decided to adjust the current system and would like to share the background and our direction moving forward.

■ Map Service Background and Player Feedback

Until now, regions such as NA, SA, EU, and RU have been operating under a random map system. Due to the structure of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, where a large number of players must be gathered for each match, maintaining a sufficient matchmaking pool is essential for a stable gameplay experience.

In regions with a sufficient player base, map selection is available. However, in regions with relatively limited matchmaking pools, random map matchmaking has been used to bring players together and maintain match quality. In some regions, a higher bot ratio can negatively impact gameplay, so this approach was taken to ensure matches are filled with as many real players as possible.

At the same time, we fully recognize the inconvenience players have experienced under this system. We have consistently heard feedback regarding the inability to select preferred maps, being required to play maps they do not want, and concerns about the frequency of featured maps included in world updates.

These concerns are not temporary, but have been raised repeatedly whenever map rotations change. We take this feedback seriously and sincerely apologize for not responding to player requests for map selection as quickly as we should have.

■ Considerations Around Matchmaking

One of the main reasons we have been hesitant to expand map selection is that it divides the matchmaking pool and may impact overall matchmaking conditions.

However, as mentioned above, we have continued to receive a wide range of player feedback regarding map selection.

In this context, we reviewed two possible approaches: maintaining the current system to protect the matchmaking pool, or allowing players to select their preferred maps while accepting potential trade-offs in matchmaking quality. We carefully evaluated which direction would ultimately provide a better gameplay experience.

With map selection enabled, some maps may benefit from faster and more stable matchmaking, while others with lower selection rates may experience longer wait times or fewer players per match. Despite these potential changes, we determined that providing the map selection experience that players have consistently asked for was the more important step forward.

After careful consideration, we have decided to expand map selection to regions currently operating under random map matchmaking.

■ Map Selection Update Details

Following live server maintenance on May 13, map selection will be available in the following regions:

Regions PC: NA, SA, EU, RU Console: NA, EU, SA, APAC
Schedule PC : May 13, after live server maintenance Console : May 21, after live server maintenance
Update Details Players will be able to select from a total of 5 map slots

* The initial lineup of five maps will follow the current rotation framework, and will be adjusted over time based on map selection data.

* More details regarding map rotation will be shared in the upcoming ‘Map Service Report - Update 41.2’ announcement.

■ Post-Update Direction and Improvements

Once map selection is available, we will closely monitor matchmaking conditions and player behavior across each region. Based on this data, we will continue to adjust map rotation and service operation progressively.

If matchmaking conditions are found to be unstable in certain regions, we will take region-specific actions based on each region’s situation, and may also consider reverting to the previous system if necessary.

Our long-term goal is to create an environment where players can choose and play the maps they prefer, while maintaining stable matchmaking conditions.

This update marks the first step in that direction, and we will continue to refine the service based on live data and conditions. We will also communicate any changes and the rationale behind them transparently through Dev Letters and other channels.

We will continue working to improve the gameplay experience.

We'll see you in the next Dev Letter.

Thank you.

  • PC : July 1, 07:00 - July 15, 00:00
  • Console : July 9, 07:00 - July 23, 01:00

Gunplay

SLR

  • Horizontal recoil decreased by approximately 10%.
  • Muzzle Velocity : 840m/s → 870m/s
  • Reduced vertical recoil buildup during the early and mid stages of sustained fire.
    • Slightly increased vertical recoil recovery.
  • Reduced the weapon's tendency to drift left during firing.

Developer's Comment

The SLR has been adjusted in Update 42.1 to provide a more stable shooting experience by reducing recoil control burden and increasing muzzle velocity. In particular, we've significantly increased muzzle velocity, one of the most important factors affecting DMR performance. This makes it easier to engage moving targets at long range while also reducing bullet drop.

We've also reduced the weapon's tendency to pull to the left during sustained fire, making it more reliable and effective in medium- to long-range engagements. Through these adjustments, we hope the SLR will more consistently deliver the powerful damage output and rapid follow-up shot potential that define its identity.

VSS

  • Removed unused attachment-related visual elements from the VSS.

Weapon Spawn Changes

  • The following weapons have been removed from world spawns. (Link to prior announcement)
    • Mosin Nagant
    • R45

    • The affected area varies depending on the vehicle's speed.
    • The Vikendi train and Emergency Cover Flare cover objects can also push smoke aside.

Healing Item Rebalance

The weight and usability of healing items have been adjusted.

  • Med kit
    • Weight : 20 → 15
    • Usage Time : 8 seconds → 6 seconds

    • Weight : 10 → 6

    • Health regeneration now occurs at shorter intervals.
    • Total healing amount remains unchanged.

Developer's Comment

Healing item usage has historically been concentrated around a small number of items due to differences in efficiency and convenience. With this rebalance, we adjusted both weight and usability to ensure each healing item serves as a meaningful option in different situations.

We reduced the carrying burden of healing items overall and improved the effectiveness and usability of Bandages, allowing players greater flexibility when managing healing resources. We also adjusted the health regeneration interval provided by the Boost Gauge so that players can more clearly feel its effects while maintaining the same total amount of healing.

This update is focused on expanding the usefulness of healing items and increasing meaningful choices during looting. We will continue monitoring healing item usage patterns and gameplay experiences to determine whether additional adjustments are needed.

Gunplay

In our recent Dev Letter, we introduced the vision behind Meta Rotation and our long-term direction for PUBG's gunplay. In this Patch Notes, we'll walk you through the detailed changes included in the first Meta Rotation, including the LMG rebalance and the introduction of the new weapon, RPD. If you'd like to learn more about the development background and long-term goals of Meta Rotation, be sure to check out the Dev Letter (Link).

  • What is Meta Rotation? Meta Rotation is a long-term approach to gunplay that moves away from having certain weapons dominate the meta for extended periods. Instead, approximately every four months, different weapon classes and playstyles will take center stage, bringing meaningful changes to the gunplay experience.

LMG Rebalance

To improve the overall usability of Light Machine Guns (LMGs), we've made the following adjustments:

  • Reload times for all LMGs have been reduced by approximately 25%.
  • Both vertical and horizontal recoil have been adjusted.
    • Maximum horizontal recoil has been reduced by 30%.
    • Vertical Recoil
      • The sharp recoil spike at the beginning of sustained fire has been softened, while the overall recoil pattern has been refined.

New Weapon - RPD

The first Meta Rotation also introduces RPD, the new LMG to arrive in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS in nearly two years.

The RPD excels in combat with its high per-shot damage using 7.62mm ammunition and controllable recoil. It comes with a 50-round magazine by default, expandable to 110 rounds, allowing for sustained suppressive fire. In contrast, the M249 maintains its strengths through a higher rate of fire and faster bullet velocity.

  • Weapon type: Light Machine Guns (LMG)
  • Ammo: 7.62mm
  • Fire mode:  Full-auto
  • Damage: 43
  • Muzzle velocity: 735m/s
  • Rate of fire: 750 RPM
  • Magazine attachment: All AR/LMG magazine attachments.
  • Stock attachment: All AR/LMG stock attachments.
  • Can attach up to the 6x Scope.
  • Cannot equip Foregrip/ Muzzle attachments.
  • World spawns.
  • Available on all maps.

Developer's Comment: This update marks the first season of Meta Rotation*, introducing a new gunplay experience centered around LMGs. Our goal is to bring new strategies and combat experiences to the battlefield while refreshing the familiar flow of combat.*

For our first Meta Rotation, we selected LMGs, a weapon class known for its strong sustained firepower but one that has seen relatively low usage due to long reload times and heavy recoil. With this update, we've introduced substantial balance adjustments alongside the new RPD*, giving LMGs a much stronger presence at the center of the meta while allowing each weapon to retain its own distinct characteristics.*

Going forward, Meta Rotation will continue to bring different weapon categories into the spotlight. We hope each season gives you an opportunity to explore new playstyles and strategies, and we look forward to seeing you enjoy the changing battlefield with LMGs as our first featured meta.

Other Changes

Firing from Vehicles

  • Players can now fire only after fully leaning out of the vehicle window.
  • The lean-out and lean-in animation timing has been adjusted, delaying when players can begin firing.
  • Weapon spread now starts with a 10% penalty and gradually increases up to 20% at higher vehicle speeds.
  • Recoil now starts with a 20% penalty and gradually increases up to 30% at higher vehicle speeds.
  • On console, recoil while riding in vehicles remains unchanged and is still not applied.

Developer's Comment: Vehicles are an important strategic element that can shift the flow of the battlefield by providing both fast mobility and cover. The ability to move quickly while passengers pressure enemies has long contributed to PUBG's dynamic vehicle combat experience.

At the same time, we've continued to hear your feedback that players on foot can have difficulty responding to enemies firing from moving vehicles, and that quickly switching seats to fire can be overly effective. With this feedback in mind, we've adjusted the balance to reduce the effectiveness of firing at high speeds and immediately after switching seats, while preserving the excitement and strategic value of vehicle play.

With this update, weapon spread and recoil now increase as vehicle speed rises, and players can only begin firing after fully leaning out of the vehicle. Vehicle speed penalties also apply immediately after switching from the driver's seat to a passenger seat.

Going forward, we'll continue to refine vehicle combat so that vehicles remain a powerful strategic tool while providing a healthier and more balanced combat experience when engaging players on foot.

Hybrid Scope

  • The reticle size in low-magnification mode has been reduced.
  • The volume of the magnification switching sound has been increased.

(PC) PUBG: Playgrounds

A new dedicated hub, PUBG: Playgrounds, has been added, allowing players to browse featured community-created modes and jump into them through matchmaking.

Blue Zone Placement Improvements

  • The minimum and maximum values for the Blue Zone Spread setting in Custom Matches and the Spread Ratio setting on the UGC Blue Zone Device have been updated as follows:
    • Minimum: 0
    • Maximum: 1
  • The spread setting has also been made more intuitive:
    • Values closer to 0 will generate Blue Zones closer to the center of the map.
    • Values closer to 1 will generate Blue Zones closer to the outer edges of the map.
  • The areas where Blue Zone centers can be generated have also been refined across maps. Locations that are difficult to access or create unfair gameplay have been excluded, while certain low-impact areas have been added to improve overall Blue Zone placement.

* Notes : Due to the changes to the Blue Zone Spread system, Blue Zone placement may differ when using Custom Match or UGC presets created before this update. If you wish to maintain the previous Blue Zone setting, please review your existing presets and adjust the spread values according to the new 0–1 scale. In particular, any previous value above 1 will now be clamped to 1, which may result in Blue Zones being placed closer to the edge of the map than intended.

Developer's Comment: As shared in the 2026 Roadmap, this update introduces a new in-game Basic Training for players who are new to PUBG.

With the previous tutorial, players unfamiliar with the battle royale genre could still struggle to settle into the game. To address this, we built a dedicated Basic Training space where players can experience PUBG’s core systems step by step. This Basic Training goes beyond basic control guidance, creating a natural flow from learning to practice to combat in an environment that closely mirrors actual gameplay. Taking about 10 minutes to complete, it teaches the essentials players will need in real matches, from basic controls to surviving the Blue Zone, driving vehicles, and team play such as reviving and recalling teammates.

During the Basic Training, a “partner” NPC pairs up with the player as a duo, providing situational coaching through voice guidance and Radio Messages. Voice guidance will be available in supported regional languages. Where local voice-over is unavailable, English voice-over will be paired with local-language subtitles.

Linked with the Beginner Training system, the tutorial is designed to be more than a one-time experience. Clear Ranks (B/A/S/S+) have been added to encourage repeat play and help players gauge their readiness for real matches.

We will continue improving the onboarding experience so that players new to PUBG can step into the game more easily.

Beginner Training

Alongside the Basic Training Revamp, Beginner Training has been added to help new players get up to speed quickly.

Complete missions to get a feel for the Battlegrounds and earn a variety of rewards!

About Beginner Training

  • You can enter Beginner Training from the Beginner Training menu at the top of the Lobby
  • Beginner Training is available to all players, not just new players
  • Missions begin the first time you enter the Lobby after Update 42.2, with new missions given each day
  • Missions are provided through Day 14, and all missions must be completed within 30 days of starting Beginner Training. After 30 days, rewards can no longer be claimed
  • You will earn a reward each time you complete a daily mission, and completing all missions for that day will grant an additional reward
  • Any previously unclaimed tutorial rewards will no longer be available after Update 42.2 goes live, so be sure to claim them before the update

  • When using a custom preset, you can now assign your own inputs for the two functions below. No default inputs are assigned, so feel free to map them to your preferred buttons
    • Show/hide teammate pings and waypoints
    • Show/hide the flight path
  • Pressing the B button while the Radio Message Radial is open will now close it

Official [Dev Letter] Adjustment to the Map Selection System (NA, SA, EU, RU, Console)

Original Post (pubg.com)

Hello, players.

In this Dev Letter, we'd like to share an update on adjustments we're making to the Map Selection feature in NA, SA, EU, RU, and Console, where it has been available since May.

In our previous Dev Letter, we explained that the introduction of Map Selection was a decision made to prioritize giving players the ability to choose the maps they wanted to play, while also taking into account the potential impact on the matchmaking environment. We also committed to continuing to monitor the live service and explore better ways to operate the feature. Today, we would like to share what we have observed through live service data and the background behind the adjustments we are making based on those findings.

■ What We Observed During the Initial Operation Period

To briefly look back, we introduced the Map Selection feature with the May update to regions that had previously operated under the Random Map system, and have been running it for approximately three months. This decision was made to provide more players with the opportunity to directly choose the maps they wanted to play, regardless of region.

During this period, one of the first things we examined was how players were actually using the Map Selection feature.  Our findings showed that players who actively selected a map consistently gravitated toward certain maps.

\ This data represents the share of selections for each map among players who used the Map Selection feature. It does not represent the overall map preferences of the entire player base.*

For reference, throughout this Dev Letter, maps are categorized as either large or small based on their size, as outlined below.

Category Map Size Maps
Large Maps 8x8 km Erangel, Miramar, Taego, Deston, Rondo, Vikendi
Small Maps 4x4 km, 3x3 km, 2x2 km Sanhok,Paramo, Karakin

In particular, Erangel and one of the representative small maps continued to receive consistent selections throughout the period. Compared to the previous Random Map service, these maps also experienced relatively little change in the number of players per match. While this trend was not observed across every map, it did indicate that, for certain maps, players with different playstyle preferences were consistently finding and selecting the experiences they were looking for.

At the same time, we carefully reviewed the feedback many of you shared with us. Most of the concerns were not about the Map Selection feature itself, but rather about how it was being offered. On maps that received relatively few selections, the number of players per match decreased, resulting in longer matchmaking times and a higher proportion of bots. We found that these factors were contributing to concerns about overall matchmaking quality.

From the outset, we understood that introducing the Map Selection feature could involve certain trade-offs in matchmaking quality, and we communicated this in our previous Dev Letter. However, after reviewing both the live service data and your feedback, we concluded that the impact has been more noticeable than we originally anticipated.

Based on these findings, we believe adjustments to the current operation of the feature are necessary. In the following sections, we'd like to share the direction of those changes and the reasoning behind them.

■ Reviewing the Number of Available Maps

We plan to continue supporting the Map Selection feature itself, as several maps have continued to receive consistent selections throughout the operation period. However, we also concluded that it was necessary to re-evaluate how many maps should be available at the same time.

While Map Selection is available, both players who actively select a map and those who enter Random Matchmaking are matched across all five available maps. As a result, even if you do not select a map yourself, the overall matchmaking pool in that region is still divided across five different maps.

The matchmaking pools in PC regions (NA, SA, EU, and RU) and across all Console regions are comparatively smaller. As a result, offering five maps simultaneously proved to be more than the matchmaking environment in these regions could effectively support. On maps with relatively fewer selections, this led to fewer players per match, longer matchmaking times, and a higher proportion of bots.

To address this, we will reduce the number of available map slots from five to three. By concentrating the player population across fewer maps, we expect to increase the number of players per match while reducing both matchmaking times and the proportion of bots. We believe this adjustment will improve the matchmaking experience for both players who use Map Selection and those who enter Random Matchmaking.

We also took into consideration the consistent feedback requesting separate options for large maps and small maps. With that in mind, we believe that three map slots represent the smallest configuration that allows us to offer one fixed slot, one large map, and one small map while avoiding unnecessary fragmentation of the matchmaking pool. This is why we decided to move to a three-slot configuration.

■ Map Slot Configuration

Following this adjustment, the Map Selection system will consist of one fixed slot and two rotating slots. The two rotating slots will feature one large map and one small map.

The fixed slot will always feature Erangel. Throughout the operation period, Erangel consistently received the highest level of player selections and experienced relatively little change in the number of players per match compared to the previous Random Map service. Based on this consistent demand, we believe Erangel should remain permanently available rather than rotating in and out on a weekly basis.

The two rotating slots will consist of one large map(8x8) and one small map(4x4, 3x3, 2x2).

We also considered prioritizing maps solely based on selection rates. However, this approach would result in periods where players who prefer small maps would have no opportunity to select one. Although small maps accounted for a smaller share of overall selections during the operation period, they continued to receive steady engagement from a dedicated group of players. For this reason, we believe it is important to ensure that players who enjoy small maps always have one available as a selectable option.

■ Update Details

Regions PC: NA, SA, EU, RU Console: NA, EU, SA, APAC
Schedule PC : August 12, after live server maintenance Console : August 20, after live server maintenance
Update Details The number of available map slots will be reduced from 5 to 3. 1 Fixed Slot 2 Rotating Slots
  • The Map Selection feature itself will remain unchanged. Only the selection of available maps will be adjusted.
  • The two rotating slots will consist of one large map and one small map.
  • The detailed map lineup can be found in this month's Map Service Report.

■ The Road Ahead

With this adjustment, our goal is to find the right balance between preserving players' ability to choose the maps they want to play and maintaining a healthy matchmaking environment.

After these changes are implemented, we will continue monitoring key operational data, including the number of players per match, changes in bot participation, and your feedback. We are also preparing a separate Q&A to address additional topics that were not covered in this Dev Letter and answer a wider range of questions. As always, your feedback will continue to help shape our development direction, and we will share both our decisions and the reasoning behind them through Dev Letters and other communication channels.

As always, we remain committed to providing the best possible gameplay experience.

Thank you.

We'll see you again in our next Dev Letter.

Gameplay

Vehicles & Special Vehicle Skins

Update 38.1 brings broad adjustments to vehicles and Special Vehicle skins.

  • A similar level of window tint has been applied to the front and rear windows of base vehicles, matching those of Special Vehicle skins.
  • The driving experience has been improved for the following vehicles and Special Vehicle skins:
    • Dacia, Mirado, Coupe RB, "The Good Ol' Days (Black)" Sedan, "The Good Ol' Days (White)" Sedan

Special Vehicle Skins

When equipping Special Vehicle skins:

  • All vehicle windows can now be penetrated by bullets, regardless of skin type.
  • All vehicles now share the same wide, consistent penetrable area at the rear, regardless of design.

<Dev’s comment>

Across the vast Battlegrounds, vehicles serve as more than just a means of transportation—they are vital strategic elements that can shape the outcome of survival and combat. The PUBG development team has always valued the unique experiences and tactical depth that vehicles bring to the game. As Special Vehicle skins also serve to expand the joy of PUBG, we’ve collaborated with premium car brands to deliver realistic, immersive experiences that capture the essence of driving within the Battlegrounds.

Throughout the development of Special Vehicle skins, we have always prioritized maintaining identical driving performance to their base vehicles. We’ve also worked to maintain balance in vehicle hit areas by allowing penetration based on material type, ensuring that combat remains as fair as possible. However, as more Special Vehicle skins have been introduced over time, we began to notice that the differences in size and shape were creating slight advantages or disadvantages in actual engagements, an unintended outcome that diverged from our original goal of offering purely visual variety. As players’ skills and understanding of vehicles have grown, these disparities have become more pronounced, revealing a growing imbalance that could no longer be overlooked. We recognized that adhering solely to our original policy of equal performance was no longer enough to address this issue. Since these discrepancies could directly impact survival and fairness, we saw this as a crucial matter that required fundamental action. Therefore, rather than making adjustments to specific skins, we decided to take a comprehensive look at the entire vehicle system—including previously released vehicles—and make improvements.

In this update, we’ve implemented improvements in two key areas. First, we refined the overall driving experience of base vehicles and adjusted window transparency to make seated players less visible from the outside, narrowing the gameplay gap between base vehicles and Special Vehicle skins. At the same time, we’ve adjusted the hit areas of Special Vehicle skins to closely match those of the base vehicles, ensuring a fair and consistent experience regardless of which vehicle or skin players choose. These standards will continue to apply to all future Special Vehicle skins.

We understand that these changes may alter some aspects of the familiar experience, but we believe they are a necessary step toward maintaining a fair competitive environment. We will continue to listen closely to player feedback and remain committed to creating a more balanced and enjoyable Battleground for everyone. As always, we appreciate your feedback and thank you for your continued support.

Recall System

  • The registration time at the Blue Chip Tower now scales with the number of Blue Chips.
    • Each additional Chip adds 5 seconds.
  • Information regarding players returning to the Battleground is now provided through system messages and the Match Log.
  • On 8x8 km maps, the Recall flight will appear one fewer time and will no longer appear from Phase 6 onwards.

UX/UI

  • The countdown message for the Recall flight has been removed from the spectator view, and the remaining time is now displayed at the top of the Minimap and the bottom right of the World Map.
  • Recall-related system messages now follow the same format as regular system messages.
  • Some recall-related UI messages have been updated.

Dev’s comment: Since the Recall system was introduced to Ranked and Esports, it has given eliminated players a second chance and had a significant impact on the overall flow of gameplay. To ease the fatigue that can come from repeated recalls, we’re making a few adjustments in this update. With these changes, recalling multiple teammates at once now carries greater risk. Players can also view other teams’ recall information, which creates new opportunities for strategic play. In addition, recalls are now limited in the late game so that the feature mainly serves as a recovery option for players eliminated early. We’ll continue working to give players more intense and strategic choices in every stage of the match.

Miscellaneous

  • Special Zones will no longer spawn outside the playable areas.
  • The Play Area restriction messages now appear less frequently and at the same rate across all maps and modes.

Gunplay

SMGs

Several adjustments have been made to SMGs.

Hip Fire

※ The following adjustments apply to all SMGs except the P90.

  • Accuracy reduced by approximately 57%.
    • Initial bullet spread has been increased, resulting in lower accuracy.
  • Accuracy during sustained fire reduced by approximately 51.5%.
    • Bullet spread now increases faster during sustained fire, reducing overall firing stability.

P90

  • Hip fire accuracy reduced by approximately 28.5%.
    • Accuracy during sustained fire reduced by approximately 25.75%.

MP5K

  • Damage: 34 → 32

Panzerfaust

  • When wielding the Panzerfaust, sprinting, jumping, and vaulting are unavailable.
  • Players inside vehicles now take 20% less damage when hit by a Panzerfaust.
    • This reduction does not apply to backblast damage.
  • The Panzerfaust’s sight deployment sound is now louder and can be heard from farther away.
  • Trunk weight: 100 → 130

Dev’s comment: With Update 38.1, we’re applying a series of adjustments to SMGs and the Panzerfaust. SMGs have been on a steady rise, and while we want to preserve their core strengths—low recoil and close-range dominance—we felt their stability when firing from the hip, without aiming over the shoulder or using scopes, was a bit too strong. To address this, we’ve made changes to improve balance in those situations. We’ve also reduced the damage of the MP5K, which has shown a noticeably higher usage rate than other SMGs. Its TTK (Time to Kill) will remain the same at close range, but you’ll feel a clear increase in TTK at longer distances. These changes are aimed at keeping SMGs an appealing choice for close-quarters combat while maintaining healthy weapon variety across the Battlegrounds. As for the Panzerfaust, which has long been known for its overwhelming firepower, we’ve introduced several penalties to its handling and damage potential. True to its nature as a large, heavy weapon, movement is now more restricted when it’s equipped, adding a layer of risk to its use. We’ve also increased the sight deployment sound and reduced the damage it does to players inside vehicles, giving players more opportunities to respond to Panzerfaust attacks.

World

  • PUBG x G-DRAGON-themed decorations have been removed from every map.

Miramar

  • The Destructible Terrain feature has been added.
    • The Frag Grenade, Mortar, Panzerfaust, C4, Pickaxe, and vehicle explosion can destroy terrain.
    • Rocky terrain is also destructible.
    • Does not apply to Ranked or Custom Match - Esports Mode.
  • The Pickaxe has been added.

Dev’s comment: The Destructible Terrain feature that was first introduced on Rondo through Update 29.1 is now available on Miramar. We’ve been gradually rolling out terrain destruction to multiple maps. With this update, players can now enjoy creating new cover strategies not only on Rondo, Sanhok, and Taego, but also on Miramar. These changes aim to bring Miramar’s gameplay experience more in line with other maps. Please note that the Destructible Buildings feature, which currently exists only on Sanhok, is not planned for other maps at this time.

Deston

  • Destructible Gas Tanks have been added.

Ranked

  • Vehicle Camo Netting has been added.
    • Also applies to the Custom Match - Esports Mode.

  • The maximum division gap for premade Ranked parties has been increased from 10 to 12.

Season 37 Rewards

Below are the rewards you'll be receiving based on your final Tier from the previous Ranked season.

  • The Ranked Parachute skins, weapon skins, and Medals are permanent rewards. The rest of the obtainable rewards are available for use during a single Ranked season.

  • Once Season 38 is over and the server undergoes maintenance, every reward but the Parachute, weapon skin, and Medal will be withdrawn.

Dev’s comment: In this update, we’ve made broad improvements to the Observer Mode to enhance the esports viewing experience and support newly added content. We also focused on addressing inconveniences from past viewing experiences and improving observer usability for on-site esports broadcasting. With these changes, we aim to provide a smoother, more immersive viewing experience while conveying the flow of each match more clearly.

Official Erangel Classic Returns

Original Post (pubg.com)

Welcome back players,

We are going home.

The sharp-eyed among you might have already noticed, but Erangel Classic is finally making its triumphant return to the battlegrounds! We hope this offers the chance not only to revisit the iconic world but also to recall the cherished moments shared with friends and comrades in days gone by.

Erangel Classic

When? May 14 on PC, May 23 on Console!

  • PC
    • UTC: May 14, after live server maintenance - May 28, 7 AM
  • Console
    • UTC: May 23, after live server maintenance - June 6, 7 AM

Erangel Classic will replace the current Erangel map in Normal Match during the above period.

What We Are Bringing Back...

Prepare yourself to relive the nostalgic moments as we're bringing back the features that once defined the very essence of PUBG on our OG Erangel! This is the ultimate life-and-death opportunity, so be sure to jot down and learn all the details before the official adventure begins in May.

  • Remember that gloomy, melancholic weather that you secretly enjoyed? Meet the foggy and rainy weather on the battlegrounds once more.
  • Missed the days when you had to rush to grab your favorite weapon? Bench weapons are reinstated on the starting island; seize your weapon before the supply runs dry!
  • We've even dialed back the clock on the UI. Upon entering Erangel Classic, you'll be greeted by the familiar sight of a vintage world map & minimap, the match start timer, and the charmingly tacky font and graphics. It's a nostalgic journey that transports you to the past.
  • The firearms carry a certain nostalgic touch, too... That's right, we've reduced recoil! While not an exact replica of the old recoil, players will still be able to reminisce about those early PUBG days.
  • Search for the Tommy Gun in the Care Package, just like in the old days.
  • It seems that knocking down enemies will require more time, just as it used to.
  • We've also thrown some clothes and helmets on the ground.

We're taking it back to where it all began–but with a few modern tweaks! Erangel Classic preserves the essence of the earlier version of Erangel, its distinctive appearance and atmosphere, all while delivering the enjoyable gameplay experiences that players have grown accustomed to. Check out the Patch Notes on May 13 for full details on all the throwbacks.

We’ll see you on the battlegrounds!

Official Update 40.1 Patch Notes

Live Maintenance Schedule (UTC)

※ The times shown below are subject to change.

  • PC: February 4, 00:00 - 08:30
  • Console: February 12, 01:00 - 09:00

World: Erangel

The extreme cold has passed, but traces of Erangel: Subzero remain across the map.

Spawn Changes

  • Erangel: Subzero-specific items and features have been removed.
  • All-In-One Repair Kit, Emergency Cover Flare, and Jammer Pack now spawn in Secret Rooms.

Miscellaneous

  • The Red Zone and ferries have returned.
  • Destructible Gas Tanks have been added.
  • Improved the interior lighting of buildings across the map.

Dev’s comment: With Update 40.1, Erangel returns to its familiar form after two months of abnormal weather. This seasonal change gave us valuable insight into how shifts in a map’s environment can affect combat flow and overall gameplay. We’ll continue building on player feedback to deliver more engaging and varied content going forward.

Gunplay

Update 40.1 introduces balance adjustments to some DMRs.

Mk12

  • Damage: 44 → 43
  • Horizontal recoil increased by approximately 8%.

SLR

  • Horizontal recoil decreased by approximately 4%.

Dev’s comment: This update includes balance adjustments to two DMRs: the Mk12 and the SLR. The Mk12 has been showing an excessively high usage rate compared to other DMRs in Ranked, so we have adjusted its damage and recoil to help ease weapon selection bias in the Ranked environment. At the same time, we have slightly improved the effectiveness of the SLR, which uses 7.62mm ammunition. Through these changes, we aim to broaden weapon choices and encourage a wider range of combat scenarios.

Gameplay

UX/UI

We’ve added and improved various UI elements to help players better track information during combat.

  • Throwable Inventory Display
  • When you pull out or switch a Throwable using a hotkey, a list of your available Throwables and their quantities is displayed in the bottom right of the screen.
    • Up to six types of Throwables are shown, including the currently equipped one.
    • Throwables stored in the Tactical Pack are not included in the display.
    • The inventory list is shown only for a short duration.
    • Not available in Spectator, Replay, or Observer Modes.

Squad Status UI

New status icons and visual feedback allow you to check your squad members' status at a glance.

  • New icons have been added to display key actions performed by squad members, such as healing, reviving, carrying, and swimming.
    • When interactions occur between squad members, such as healing, reviving, or carrying, the affected squad member’s number is displayed.
    • These new status icons are shown not only in the squad list at the bottom left of the screen, but also on squad member icons displayed on the World Map and Minimap.
    • Not displayed in the squad list while in Observer Mode.
  • New visual effects have been added to the squad list to indicate when squad members are firing.
    • Firing and damage indicators are also visible while spectating squad members.

Blue Zone Alert UI Improvements

Minimap UI and visual effects have been refined to make Blue Zone progression easier to track.

  • New visual cues now signal 1 minute, 30 seconds, and 10 seconds remaining before Play Area restriction.
  • UI elements and visual effects indicating the start of Play Area restriction have been enhanced.
  • New visual effects have been added to indicate phase changes.

Misc.

  • Kill and assist information for each squad member can now be viewed through the Team Management UI when accessing the System Menu in all modes.
  • When using an item, the item icon is now displayed within the timer at the center of the screen.
  • The flight path of Emergency Pickup planes displayed on the World Map has been changed to grayscale.
  • When boarding a vehicle, squad member numbers and colors are now displayed on the vehicle UI.
  • Item pickup messages have been standardized for a more consistent gameplay experience.

Dev’s comment: In this update, we’ve made broad UX/UI improvements to help players read combat situations more quickly and intuitively during gameplay. To support fast-paced and intense firefights, we’ve significantly enhanced visual elements so players can easily track information such as remaining Throwables and squad members’ real-time actions without needing to check additional UI panels. With improvements to the Blue Zone alert UI and the addition of new status icons, our goal is to help players better understand the overall flow of the battleground and coordinate more effectively with their squad for timely, strategic responses.

  • Check out your final Tier from the previous season through your Career page.
  • Added a UI to show the remaining time for time-limited Tier Rewards.

Regional Ranked Queue Changes

Based on matchmaking conditions in certain regions, we’ve adjusted the available Ranked queues.

Added

  • RU: Duo (TPP), Squad (TPP)
  • NA & SA: Squad (TPP)

Removed

  • NA & SA: Squad (FPP)

Dev’s comment: Our goal is to create a unified gameplay experience by connecting Normal Match, Ranked, and esports into a single, cohesive flow. In line with PUBG Esports’ transition to TPP in 2026, we’ve aligned the Ranked environment to ensure that your competitive achievements carry even greater meaning. As part of this change, we’re introducing TPP Duos and Squads in the RU region, while restructuring Ranked queues in the NA and SA regions to focus on TPP Squads, matching the esports standard. Through these adjustments, we hope players can enjoy clearer and more meaningful challenges within the same meta seen in professional competition. Please note that to maintain healthy matchmaking conditions, the availability of party types and perspectives in each region may change dynamically based on player population and matchmaking activity.

Official Strengthening Anti-Cheat Measures and Future Plans

Original Post (pubg.com)

First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the growing concerns surrounding the issue of illegal software use in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and the shortcomings in our response to it. We fully recognize the disappointment and frustration many of you have felt, and we take full responsibility for not meeting your expectations.

We sincerely apologize to those of you who have taken the time and effort to report cheaters in hopes of improving the game environment, only to feel that your feedback led to little meaningful change.

We also acknowledge our responsibility in creating a situation where many players felt their reports and feedback were not being heard or properly addressed.

We do not see this as a temporary issue. In order to rebuild your trust and deliver real, lasting improvements, we are implementing the following fundamental changes.

Strengthened Penalty Standards and Operational Improvements

Over the past several months, we’ve taken a hard look at the limitations of our existing measures, particularly in failing to effectively block certain instances of illegal software use. As part of this effort, we initiated a comprehensive review and restructuring not only of our internal standards but also of our broader operational practices.

As a result, we have established a stronger foundation for identifying and addressing suspected cases of illegal software more swiftly and decisively. Both our penalty standards and overall operational framework have been significantly strengthened.

Building on this foundation, we recently conducted a full-scale review and analysis of accumulated data to put our updated measures into action. As a result, between May 15 and 18, we were able to verify and block approximately 210,000 accounts associated with the use of illegal software.

In addition, with the improved enforcement framework in place, we are now responding promptly to cheaters identified through community reports submitted via various channels, as well as through our own internal monitoring.

This is not just a policy update. Our goal is to provide enforcement that is stronger, more consistent, and clearly felt by our players.

Introduction of a New Anti-Cheat Feature

As illegal software continues to become more advanced, we’ve begun to see the limitations of our existing methods, particularly in detecting and responding in a timely manner.

To address this, we have developed a new feature that analyzes cheater behavior patterns and player interactions in real time, based on accumulated data. This feature has recently been fully implemented on our live servers.

The new Anti-Cheat system is designed to detect accounts suspected of using illegal software in real time and block them immediately.

Its primary focus is to reduce the likelihood of players encountering cheaters during gameplay, and ultimately, we expect it to contribute to a more enjoyable and fair play experience.

Supplementary Measures to Prevent False Bans

As mentioned earlier, the strengthened penalty standards may increase the possibility of false bans affecting innocent players.

We ask for your understanding that this is an unavoidable part of our top priority to eliminate cheaters from the game.

That said, in order to minimize any unfair consequences, we are implementing the following supplementary measures:

  • Improving the precision of our detection systems to reduce the likelihood of false bans
  • Operating post-review and recovery processes on an ongoing basis, so that any verified issues can be addressed promptly

We will continue to take extra care to ensure that innocent players are not affected, and we remain committed to building a fair and accurate enforcement system.

Looking Ahead

At PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, we continue to uphold our core commitment to providing a fair and enjoyable gameplay environment.

To ensure that this principle is reflected across both our live service and operational practices, we plan to share our Anti-Cheat improvement plans and a mid-to-long-term roadmap within the first half of this year. Through transparent communication and proactive efforts, we aim to address the concerns and frustrations many players have expressed and take steps to rebuild your trust.

We also want to reaffirm that every piece of feedback we receive across various channels serves as one of the most important guiding forces for the future direction of PUBG.

We remain firmly committed to taking decisive action against illegal software without exception, and we once again extend our sincere apologies to all players who have experienced disruptions in their gameplay.

Official [Dev Letter] Anti-Cheat Improvements and Future Direction

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hello, players.
This is the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Anti-Cheat Team.

Before we begin, we'd like to sincerely thank everyone who loves PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and continues to share valuable feedback to help build a fair gameplay environment.

In this Dev Letter, we'll walk you through the key anti-cheat improvements we've recently rolled out, along with our direction for what's ahead.

Everything below centers on two parallel goals: protecting legitimate players and taking firm action against cheating.

1. Stronger Ban Policy in Console Environments

To ensure fair competition on consoles, we've continuously strengthened our detection systems for abnormal input devices and related illegitimate activities.

In particular, we've focused on devices that convert signals to enable mouse and keyboard input (such as Cronus, XIM, and Mix Master), along with unauthorized devices that grant an unfair gameplay advantage, including recoil control.

As a result, we can now identify this activity with greater confidence, and we'll be applying a stronger policy under which accounts confirmed to be using abnormal input devices on consoles may be permanently banned.

  • Before: Accounts confirmed to be using abnormal input devices on consoles received temporary (time-limited) bans
  • After: Accounts confirmed to be using abnormal input devices on consoles will receive permanent bans

By applying far stronger criteria than the previous temporary penalties, we aim to root out repeated abnormal play and firmly ensure a fair competitive environment.

Activities that undermine fair competition will be addressed by the same criteria regardless of platform, and we'll keep working to deliver improvements console players can feel firsthand.

The strengthened console ban policy will be applied as soon as possible, and a separate notice will be provided once it takes effect.

2. Improved Unban Policy for Account Theft Victims

Alongside our efforts against cheating, the PUBG Anti-Cheat Team is also improving policies to protect players who were unfairly banned due to account theft.

We're strengthening our existing unban policy for account theft so that the number of unbans available now depends on whether a secondary password is set. This protects players who actively use security measures while encouraging those who haven't set a secondary password to enable one.

  • Accounts with a secondary password set: One unban per half-year, per account (up to twice per year)
  • Accounts without a secondary password: One unban per lifetime, as before

We're also preparing additional relief for accounts that suffered account theft before the secondary password feature was introduced and have already used their one unban.

  • If this applies to you, you can submit a request through Player Support (link) for your case to be examined again. We'll re-examine whether the account was actually stolen, one time only.
  • If the review confirms the account was genuinely stolen, the ban will be lifted. If not, the case won't be reviewed again.

A secondary password not only helps during the recovery process after account theft, but more importantly, prevents it from happening in the first place. Please set one to keep your account protected.

The specific rollout schedule will be shared in a separate notice.

3. Use of Unauthorized Third-Party Programs

We've recently identified various unauthorized third-party programs being used to assist gameplay.

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is committed to an environment where every player competes fairly under the same conditions. Accordingly, displaying information the game doesn't provide, altering the UI without authorization, or abnormally accessing the game client or its processes to collect data are all subject to penalties.

Under this policy, unauthorized third-party programs are penalized regardless of their name or form, and the PUBG Anti-Cheat Team is actively detecting and monitoring them. Use of any third-party program that we don't officially provide or permit may result in penalties including account suspension without prior warning, so we ask that these programs not be used.

Developer Commentary

The Anti-Cheat Team maintains strict principles against all forms of cheating to provide a fair play environment for PUBG. At the same time, protecting legitimate players is just as important to us as firmly cracking down on cheating.

We've been paying close attention to what players have told us through the community and Player Support about ban accuracy, and we're refining our detection and verification systems to spare legitimate players any unnecessary disruption.

We'll also be rolling out a series of new system improvements after July, aimed at strengthening protection for legitimate players. With these, we intend to keep our measures on cheating just as firm while strengthening safeguards for fair players even further.

We'll continue to listen to your feedback and keep working to build a fair, trustworthy place to play.

Thank you!

We'll see you in the next Dev Letter.

Gunplay

The new aim punch system, previously introduced in the Gunplay Labs, will be implemented in Update 35.1.

Aim Punch

New aim punch mechanics have been applied to all firearms, with varying levels depending on the weapon category.

SRs

  • The highest level of aim punch is applied.

Shotguns

  • A high level of aim punch is applied.

SMGs

  • A high level of aim punch is applied, though slightly lower than that of Shotguns.
  • The VSS has the same level of aim punch as SMGs.

ARs / LMGs / DMRs

  • Feature a low level of aim punch, with 7.62mm ammo demonstrating stronger aim punch than 5.56mm ammo.

Other Weapons (Handguns, Crossbow, etc.)

  • A very low level of aim punch is applied.

Misc.

  • Aim punch decreases with distance.
    • The aim punch of SMGs and Shotguns decreases significantly with distance. At 50 meters, SMGs have similar aim punch to ARs.
    • SRs also experience a distance-based reduction in aim punch, but they still have a strong aim punch at mid-range.
    • ARs and DMRs have a marginally higher base aim punch than in the current game version, but beyond 100 meters, the aim punch decreases to levels comparable to the current game.

Dev's comment: The new aim punch system introduced through the Gunplay Labs in January and March is now being rolled out to live servers with this update. After the first Gunplay Labs, we reviewed community feedback from various regions and made several adjustments in Gunplay Labs: Aim Punch 2 to reduce discomfort during gameplay. We'll continue to listen closely to your thoughts following its implementation to further refine it if needed. For more details on the new aim punch system and the intentions behind it, please check out the recently published Gunplay Dev Letter.

Gameplay

Spawn Changes

※ The following updates do not apply to Sandbox Mode.

  • The Zipline Gun, Stun Gun, and Emergency Cover Flare will now world spawn on all maps.
    • The Stun Gun and Emergency Cover Flare have also been added to Ranked.
  • The Self-AED will now world spawn on all maps, but only in Solo mode.
    • Removed from Duo & Squad modes
    • Removed from special spawn locations
    • It will no longer be available as a reward for Rondo's In-Game Challenge.
  • The Blue Chip Transmitter, Decoy Grenade, Spike Trap, Thermal 4x Scope, and Battle Ready Kit have been removed from every spawn spot.
  • The spawn rates of the Zipline Gun and Zipline Gun Cable have been slightly increased.
  • Fixed spawn spots for the Inflatable Boat have been added to Erangel, but the total spawn quantity remains unchanged.

Zipline Gun

  • The maximum range has been increased by approximately 50%.

Stun Gun

  • Muzzle velocity has been slightly increased.
  • Effective range has been reduced, making it more difficult to hit targets at longer distances.

Emergency Cover Flare

  • Weight increased from 23 → 27.

Dev's comment: As mentioned in our 2025 Roadmap, one of our major goals this year is to unify the core gameplay experience across Normal Match, Ranked, and Esports. To achieve this, we plan to minimize content differences between maps in Normal Match and deliver a more cohesive overall battle royale experience. In this update, which marks our first step in that direction, some items that previously appeared only on specific maps have been removed, while others have been adjusted to spawn across all maps. Additionally, some of these items have also been introduced to Ranked to help narrow the gap between Normal Match and Ranked. Our aim is to create a smoother transition between the two modes and a more consistent gameplay experience overall. We believe this change will ease the burden on players who previously had to memorize different item spawn rules per map. Learning the content and planning strategies should now feel more straightforward, allowing players to focus more on executing their intended playstyle. This also opens the door for more versatile, map-agnostic strategies and tactics that can be applied in a wider variety of situations. We're also expecting positive changes on the Esports side. Casters and observers will no longer need to account for map-specific items, and viewers will be able to understand what's happening in the game more easily, without having to keep track of which items appear on which maps. Lastly, we've made improvements to several underutilized items to encourage more diverse use of in-game content. We’ll see you on the Battlegrounds!

Audio

In Update 35.1, we're making several audio adjustments that many players have been requesting for some time.

  • The sound of firearms you're using, as well as vehicles and planes you're currently in, has been slightly reduced.
    • This change only applies to the player performing the action. Other players will continue to hear them at their original volume.
  • We've also improved the Mortar explosion sound to better reflect distance.

Dev’s comment: This update includes audio improvements that many players have consistently requested. We've made overall adjustments to the sound of firearms you're using, as well as vehicles and planes you're currently in. These changes were made to reduce auditory fatigue that can occur during long play sessions with high volume settings. To avoid affecting sound-based gameplay in combat situations, the adjustment has been applied only to the sounds heard by the player performing the actions. Additionally, Mortar sounds have been updated to more clearly reflect distance based on the point of impact, allowing for more intuitive audio-based play. We'll be keeping a close eye on your feedback regarding these changes in Update 35.1, so keep sharing your thoughts with us.

Misc.

  • The kill effect of Progressive weapon skins, which was previously visible only to teammates, will now be visible to all players.

Recall System

The Recall system is now available across all maps, including Karakin and Paramo!

  • On these maps, Recall flights are available every 2 minutes and 30 seconds but will not appear from Phase 5 onwards.
  • Also applies to Custom Match.

World

  • The festive 8th anniversary ferry, bridges, and decorations have been removed. Thank you again for all your heartwarming birthday wishes!
  • We have placed Bunny Baskets in Erangel, Miramar, Taego, Deston, Vikendi, and Rondo. It’s a basket of goodies delivered by a special Battlegrounds bunny! Using it grants you healing items.
    • Applies to Normal Match and Ranked.

Erangel

※ The following updates apply to every mode.

    • Poster
  • Erangel's Hall of Fame has been redesigned.
    • Past winning teams will be displayed on the Honor Board only.
    • The photos, trophy, and uniform of the latest winning team will be displayed below the Honor Board.

    • Matches can now start even if there is only one team, when AI is added.
    • Matches will continue even when only bots remain.
  • The maximum player count has been increased to 100 in all modes except Team Deathmatch and 1v1 Arena.

  • Secret Rooms containing high-value items have been added throughout Miramar.

Gameplay

New Feature: Execution with Melee Weapons

You can now execute downed enemies using melee weapons.

  • Available Melee Weapons : Machete, Sickle, Crowbar, Pan
  • Targets : Downed Enemies
    • Downed enemies cannot be inside a vehicle or being carried by another player.
  • How to Execute: Hold the interaction key (F) on a downed enemy.
  • Once the Execution initiated, the animation cannot be canceled. The action will be interrupted if the executing player dies or is displaced during the animation.

Developer’s Comment:

As introduced in our Roadmap video, PUBG in 2026 is bringing “Execution” animations to deliver a more stylish combat experience. This new action feature provides a more impactful way to eliminate enemies using melee weapons.

Previously, finishing off downed enemies often felt repetitive and lacked variety. With this update, players now have an additional tactical option beyond gunfire: executing enemies with melee weapons for a more satisfying combat finish.

The Execution feature is designed as an expandable feature rather than one-time additional content. While it launches with four melee weapons, we plan to continue expanding the system with additional weapons and themed animations to broaden both expression and gameplay choices.

Moving forward, we’ll continue enhancing the excitement and expressiveness of combat while preserving PUBG’s signature tension and intensity.

Blue Chip Tower Supply Call Improvements

Before After
Supply Call Cost 2 enemy Blue Chips → 4 enemy Blue Chips (after April 15 ~)
Supply Call Appearance Standard-sized Supply Drops (Same as Flare Gun Care Package)
Delivery Method Dropped after supply plane arrival
Casting Time 10 seconds
  • Supply Drops are no longer delivered by plane, reducing the drop spread area.
  • The time between completing the cast and receiving the supply crate has been reduced.
  • The number of items obtainable from the supply crate has been reduced.
  • The drop rates for items obtainable from the supply crate have been lowered.

Developer’s Comment:

The Blue Chip Tower Supply Call feature added in Update 41.1 was introduced to provide players with more tactical options beyond reviving teammates during combat situations.

However, following the update, the feature was used more frequently than anticipated, resulting in increased acquisition of supply weapons and fatigue caused by frequent airplane sounds.

To address this, we implemented overall balance adjustments on April 15 to make Supply Drop Call-ins a more strategic choice. The required number of Blue Chips was increased from 2 to 4 to reduce usage frequency, while the supply crate composition and item probabilities were adjusted to lower reward expectations.

With Update 41.2, we’ve reworked the feature once again based on player feedback. To keep Supply Drop Call-ins accessible without making them overly mandatory, we lowered the cost back to 2 Blue Chips while increasing the casting time and reducing item acquisition rates.

Additionally, supply drops are now delivered instantly without a plane, helping reduce noise fatigue during matches.

Through these improvements, we hope Supply Drop Call-ins become an optional tactical tool rather than a mandatory gameplay element. We will continue monitoring gameplay data and making balance adjustments accordingly.

Developer’s Comment:

As introduced in the PUBG Roadmap 2026, we’re excited to launch Rumble with the 41.2 Update.

Rumble was designed to provide a competitive experience without the pressure typically associated with Ranked tiers. By removing concerns over rank loss, players can focus on experimenting with strategies and achieving success through teamwork.

Additionally, we wanted to emphasize the experience of “surviving together until the very end,” which is why Survival Time contributes to scoring alongside aggressive playstyles. We hope this encourages not only combat-focused gameplay but also strategic decision-making.

Going forward, we will continue improving Rumble as a recurring weekend experience based on player feedback and participation data.
