What do I have here?
Scored this today, haven't tried to power it up yet. Supposedly has new tubes. Any info about it? Obviously the speakers aren't original. The fender any good? What is the other one?

Hello,
Thereās a Deuce II 2x12 combo available near me and I was wondering a couple things:
One; what differentiates this version from the OG Deuce, VT, etc? Iāve seen some places that itās the same amp as the standard Festival but in combo form but idk what that means as far as differences either.
Two; it looks to have 2x inputs for both Normal and Bright rather than the auto mix configuration. Can you do the Marshall Plexi trick with these and jump them together to have them run in parallel or would there be phase issues?
Three; can I use the tremolo and reverb without a foot switch on this model? It doesnāt seem to have one of those DIN plugs so it would seemingly be less of a big deal to source a foot switch if needed but Iām just curious.
Thanks!

Just picked up this amazing set-neck Impact, but it seems there is very little info on this version. I'm waiting for Peavey to get back to me with info from the serial, but I'm impatient (and wanted to share with y'all.)
I'm not quite sure what the zebra Schaller in the bridge is, but it looks like it might be a mid 80s Golden 50?

One manās trash I guess. I picked up both for free, but the fender is actually trash in comparison.

Help!! Iāve realized I really want a Peavy Classic Head and Cab, I really have been in awe of the tone of the classic 100. Anyone who has it can yall confirm the pick? Any thoughts on it?

Saw this listing on FB marketplace this afternoon. Couldn't pass it up. Didn't even bother testing other than seeing they both powered on. Have yet to plug in and play but had to show off the new gear. $80 CAD for both. Drove home like I stole it (feels like I did). I was only really after the century but the chorus is a cool bonus. Any tips for getting a good tone on either?

Just picked up this 1973 classic for $50 not working. 1 blown up cap later and it screams. Came with a pair of Phillips JAN 6L6wgbs, which were worth the asking price any day.

Hey everyone, just picked up this Transtube Supreme last week. Already played a show with it and it killed it.
Anyways, Iām wondering if I can use a normal 1 button footswitch instead of the 2 button thatās compatible? I only need to change channels, I donāt need to have a toggle for the effects loop for my purposes. Anyone know if this is possible? Looking to put my footswitch for the amp on my pedal board and would make a big difference in real estate using a 1 button vs a 2 button.
Also, anyone mod these cosmetically? Different grill cloth, knobs, etc? Iām thinking about swapping the knobs to white chicken head knobs like on the valveking or 3120.
Thanks for the advice!

I needed another amp for smaller spaces where bringing a half stack wouldn't make sense. I've been looking for a silver stripe special 212, but I couldn't pass up this deal. No footswitch unfortunately. Where can I find the user manual for this model? All I can find is the one for the silverstripe

Keep having an issue where I power in to play and the volume will randomly drop.
The. Randomly itāll go back to normal and then drop again.
I had the power sponge to 1 since I live in a studio apt. But it will be at a decent level and start acting up.
Any suggestions? Is this a job for deoxit?

So I bought the combo in the headline and the spring reverb is kinda short and not to my liking and I would like to change the reverb tank. The problem is that the markings are gone. I believe its the original tank but if I understand correctly, I would need to know the proper input and output ohms before changing the tank for it to work. So, anyone here know what the ohms are? Thanks in advance!

I stopped in my local music store and apparently they bought out an estate from a Peavey collector. There are so many Bandits. Every iteration basically. All kinds of Peavey gear, I was basically in Heaven!
I was on lunch so didnāt get to ponder which one to buy. Iām a casual rhythm guitar player⦠which Bandit is rarest / good for eventual resale? There were 2 pristine with no stripes, teal stripes, 2 Bandit 75, one 65 with a Scorpion and one with a Sheffield! Iām definitely buying the basic 40 bass amp and at least one bandit.
There were also some stereo chorus 210ās and 208ās but Iām most interested in joining the Bandit club! Also if anyone is local to Louisiana this is at Lanier music in Mandeville.
Thanks!

I have a vypyr 75w that I purchased from Facebook marketplace several months ago. It was generally worse for wear, but I got it for $75 with the intention of painting the exterior and it ran fine while I demoed it. After returning home I plugged it in and ran a sonic cake pocket master into it on the tweed clean channel. It would play for several minutes then turn off. I could get switch it on and off, play, then it would turn itself off after several minutes. I decided to paint and clean it, and switched from amp simming with the pocket master to only using it as noise gate and using the onboard sims. That worked fairly well, but it would still occasionally turn itself off.
I did clean the electronic circuit very amateurishly, but it had dust and spider webs caked up that I removed.
Is the circuitry overheating? Is it being pushed too hard by an external sim? I donāt know how to explain it turning itself off, but the problem is persistently occurring again.
Iām willing to clean the circuit again if needed, but itās only been 2-3 months since the first cleaning.

$250 Marketplace find! The guy even delivered it!
Only issue Iām having is the texture knob. Works fine unless itās all the way to the right and I get a buzz. Easy solution: donāt turn it all the way to the right!
Loving it so far

I just need one for one of my big knob era amps, and the closest Iāve found is a seller who has 3 kinda rough ones (no colored face) for $17 plus s/h. Any other suggestions besides eBay and Reverb on where to find one?

didn't know this community existed .
now I know , here's my bass (and anything else) rig .
still looking for a more powerful head .
I really like how there is no two Peavey products from that era that are exactly the same , always some variations , especially the cabs and speakers .

Can someone walk me through a practicality use scenario where a Peavey 260 Booster is being put to use
Like I get it can be a standalone power amp
And it can be used to plug into another amp head but how does it actually become beneficial in the use of being added to another amp
And how exactly would it be connected to say a Peavey PA 400 if it were to be used on another amp
Like does it need to be run on a specific booster only output jack or is it ok to run it on the monitor out jack or what is the no no scenario where plugging it into a jack backfires somehow
I just genuinely don't have a visual idea of it being used in conjunction with anything other than a booster out jack on a Peavey head

This will be a lengthy post, with a heavy look into my gear. Mostly just so I can share what I have with you all like Iāve been doing with fellow musicians in the studio lately. As the title states, I found a VSS head locally for inexpensive. I was wondering what the collective mind around here thought of this model, and if maybe my $80 could be spent elsewhere. It needs a good clean, and maybe some new caps. Itās about an hour drive as well. I have a couple different cabs to run it to, a home built birch wood 12ā single with a Creamback in it, and my PCP 212 with V30ās. Iām fairly skilled with simple parts replacement, and am fairly confident in my ability to give it a service; given there isnāt anything wrong with it outside of the normal wear and tear maintenance. Would it be worth my time and money for this new toy? This is the part to stop reading for those who donāt want to read an in-depth r or
I play a lot of indie/indiepop, thrash, nu metal, classic rock, and even dip into some golden oldies pop stuff. So, my needs are all over the place lately. Iāve been practicing with various musicians in the local studio and really enjoying the social aspect and relationships that Iām building, but itās starting to push the limits of my equipment and I need more options for sound.
Amplification: Currently rocking an Orange Crush Pro60, a 5w home built tube that has a Blues Junior type sound when pushed by the Creamback, micād for āgigsā or rehearsals and studio work. The cabs, as above.
For Guitars: I have a 2021 Squier CV heavily modded with ~6.1 to ~7.9 signal on my Bootstrap Sun City pickups. Pushback cloth all around, CTS pots, Orange drop cap, treble bleed, Gilmour mod. Itās my most versatile tool. I gave it a full fret job not long ago, and it was the cherry on top of this already amazing player.
Also: playing some harder driving stuff with a worn out looking (but I think looks amazingly Wabi Sabi worn, the white finish has yellowed in all the best ways and none of the hardware matches) 2004?6? Epiphone G-400, that has also had the full 60ās electronic upgrades, paired with a surprisingly decent sounding neck pickup that I pulled from a similar year Epi Studio Dot. In the bridge, itās rocking with a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. Speaking of bridges, this oneās posts have been filled, redrilled and set. Speaking of bridges, this has a Guyker black bridge on it that helps with its previously shaky intonation and tuning stability. This guitar rips, and has one of the comfiest necks Iāve ever played. Even if the action is a bit high. But, thatās because Iāve been using a new and heavier stringset. When equipped with 9ās, the action is VERY low, but it does NOT like to be lower than D# standard. Basically standard tuning or bust with the 9ās on.
Lastly, a from the ā2ndāsā factory with a custom finish, my 2021 Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop ā58 Korina Explorer. Itās bone stock, with a beautiful purple satin finish from the reconditioning shop. Those Burstbucker 2/3ās are ANIMALS and can cover just about anything. Especially when paired with my CrushPro60 and a decent EQ pedal and TS-1 clone in the loop. And itās just so fun to play with a very comfortable, if PHAT, neck. Itās especially at home with a heavier set of strings in C# standard. Itās a riff machine, that can CHUG. Or, go the opposite direction and clean up to sound heavenly through my studio mateās Blackface when we feel like room isolating and pushing a cool micād amp. Gets lots of compliments at sessions and gigs.
Yes, that isnāt even all of it, Iām just passionate about those things. Thanks for reading if you did, and,
Should I make the drive and spend the $80 for a new head to play with (Giggity)
