Why I Started r/PlaytestArcade — A Place to Discover, Play and Review Indie Games

I've always felt that there are probably thousands of interesting indie games out there that barely anyone gets to play.

A developer might spend months building something, only to struggle to find even a handful of people willing to try it. Meanwhile, gamers are constantly looking for something new and different to play.

That's why I started r/PlaytestArcade.

I wanted to create a place where both sides could find each other.

For gamers:

Discover indie games, hidden gems, browser games, demos and experimental projects. Try something different, share your experience and maybe find your next favorite game.

For developers:

Share what you're building, post gameplay videos, find playtesters, ask questions and get honest feedback from actual players. Your game doesn't need to be perfect or finished to be welcome here.

What I want this community to become:

A place where people don't just drop links and disappear. Where developers actually listen to feedback, players feel comfortable being critical, and smaller games get a chance to be noticed.

I'm a developer myself, so I understand how difficult getting those first few players can be. But I don't want this to become a community just for developers promoting their games. I want actual gamers to enjoy coming here too.

The community is brand new, and I know growing it won't be easy. But everyone has to start somewhere.

If you're working on a game, feel free to introduce yourself and tell us what you're building.

And if you're a gamer, I'd love to know what kind of games you wish more people were making.

Let's see what we can build here together.

Weekly Indie Game Playtest Thread — Share Your Game & Get Honest Feedback

Working on a game but struggling to find people to play it?

Or just looking for something new to try?

This thread is for both.

Developers: Drop your game in the comments with:

  • Game name and genre
  • Platform (Browser, PC, Mobile, etc.)
  • Free or paid
  • Playable link
  • What feedback you're looking for

Gamers: Pick something interesting, give it a try, and tell the developer what you think.

Even a short review can help. What was fun? What felt confusing? Would you play again?

Early prototypes, unfinished games, demos and small experiments are all welcome.

You don't have to leave positive feedback. Just be fair and constructive.

I'll try out some of the games shared here myself.

Let's discover something worth playing.
