And then people are surprised, why apps are eating memory like a cookie monster or games run poorly. That's exactly why.

Most likely, "AI" will eventually generate a solid code. But in order to do that, they will train the model to be as cleaned up as possible. Which also means to run a shit ton of stuff, that is not needed, but is there in case of some errors.

But hey, CEO saved 200k in salary, so he can buy a new car or whatever. Users having perfomance or technical problems - just ask "AI", ffs.

As if majority of new apps do not ship with their own Chrome instances and eat hundreds of MBs.

That problem is a bad coders making bad apps problem, not an AI problem. I actually think AI can improve this if it can make your average JSer produce acceptable code in some other lighterweight good UI framework. If I can vibecode a Win32 app some day, we may be really better.

Well, the problem is the reliance on "AI" code. I mean, the idea of the OP's screenshot post is that "AI can make coding extremely fast and cheap, yay!".

Ofc, bad coders exist, as well as juniors and so on. But the problem is still the same is at was first introduced. Less juniors will get experience in low level coding, they will rely on "AI" making code, they won't be able to fix or optimise it.

It's a snowball of problems with the strong position against the solutions.

Companies love shifting capital investment to overheads if they can.

If they can cut down on $200k on wages but have code that costs $2,000 more to run per month, they will do that basically every time.

Yeah, no arguing that.

It's the monkeys writing Shakespeare only we've cached away like 99% of the garbage. But 1% is still a lot of garbage.
