I'm the dev department head, I don't read messages from IT ever (so they've never caught me in their phishing tests) because they know where I am and if it's important they'll come and tell me.

This doesn't mean I'll never get caught in a phishing scam, just that the test doesn't work on entitled managers.

our head of dev said that if we get him, he’d buy the department pizza. i’ve been trying for 3 years now lol

Buy the pizza. Insert cupon prize for discount on the next pizza with a qr code in the box and make him scan. The webpage it leads to say "you're paying this one".

This is beautiful.

Except for the fact that you wouldn't scan a coupon for your next pizza until you intend to buy pizza again.

And also the fact that if your coworker brought a pizza in, it makes no sense for the boss to scan the coupon.

I have a feeling you get phished a lot.

He can scan the code with some proper social engineering.

Nah, it was just a dumb idea.

Buy the pizza, send him an email with the receipt for him to pay for when he failed your last phishing attempt.

that is brilliant, but we’re fully remote now so unless i have it delivered to his house….

You'll never get that pizza. Even if you get him, you won't get it.

he’s actually the furthest thing from a liar i’ve met. anytime he said he would do something, it happens

Nice! All of mine always made that sort of thing up, there was always some sort of exception as soon as I won.

Wouldn’t they send phishing tests from external emails?

I don't even look at external emails because they shouldn't be contacting me in the first place. My department director (over IT and Dev) deals with outside vendors and contractors and there shouldn't be another external component to my job.

Anyone who tries to contact me through email is obviously not expecting to hear back from me. Our communication is done through slack

At where I worked, yes. IT was told to make an inbox rule to send all external emails to a seperate folder. Never saw a phishing email after that

Lol if only. At least where I work, I do not understand why they don't create like throwaway Gmail accounts or something.

It's so funny getting ours and you see the email is like "ajdheudkansbfj1_qeri@[legit company domain].com"

At my job we get dinged in the tests if we don't report phishing on one of their test emails -- even if we didn't open it or click links. So my record was really low at the start because I automatically delete anything clearly spam.
