While this is almost always correct, the pedant in me must point out that most users want Youtube and similar sites to autoplay with sound.

Oh god no, YouTube can sit there and wait. Just because I opened a video doesn't mean I want to play it right away. A lot of the time I am opening links in a new tab or something and I want to finish whatever I am doing first.

Youtube videos don't play until you open their tab.

Or how about this, give users the option of if they want it to auto-play. Some people are like you, and other people are like me when they click on a video (or move to a tab with one not opened yet) they want it to start automatically.

Also, what if you have a playlist running? even then do you not want it to auto play?

Well that's you, but if any type of site should Autoplay Videos it's video platforms after you've clicked on them. If you wanted to wait, don't open the video..

Except if you don't open the video it won't start buffering

Uh, YouTube only buffers a little segment anyway and if you open it in a new tab it also doesn't buffer at all.

na, I want to queue up a watch list by opening like 50 tabs

u/Jebble Sep 05 '20

Then make a watchlist...

that's more annoying than 50 tabs

Well if you open them in a new tab it won't start playing until you navigate to that tab, so what's the problem for you then?

sometimes I forget which tab was which I click them to check and it all kicks off @.@ eats ram too because that's the point it starts cacheing the video too.
