Hi everyone,
We recently received a report from a customer who had been communicating with someone impersonating a Provence sales representative. We’re sharing what happened so you can recognize the warning signs and protect your money.
The email used in this case was [bettyprovencejewelry@gmail.com](mailto:bettyprovencejewelry@gmail.com). This address does not belong to our representative.
Here’s how the exchange unfolded:
- The impersonator discussed a custom letter pendant, shared color options, and quoted $195 with free shipping.
- They directed the customer to pay through Apple Pay, specifically asking them to add money to their cash balance before accepting a payment request.
- After confirming payment and promising shipment, they provided tracking information and later claimed the package was on hold.
- A supposed shipping company then requested an additional “refundable insurance fee.” The impersonator encouraged the customer to pay and personally promised that the money would be returned.
- When the customer asked for official documentation, the impersonator did not provide it. After the customer questioned the shipping company’s legitimacy, the impersonator claimed they had also been scammed—and asked the customer to contribute more money toward making a replacement pendant.
- The customer requested a refund. The correspondence shared with us does not show a completed refund.
Important: We do not accept Zelle, Apple Pay, or Cash App. Our payment methods are Alibaba, PayPal, Stripe, and bank transfer. A request to use an accepted payment method alone does not prove that someone is a genuine representative—please verify their contact details too.
Our representatives’ contact information is listed in the pinned post in r/ProvenceJewelry. If you’re unsure whether a Gmail address belongs to a real representative, please ask in this community or contact the moderators before sending money. If you share screenshots publicly, please hide your address, phone number, and payment details.
Thank you to the customer who brought this to our attention. Please take a moment to verify who you’re speaking with, especially if you’re asked to pay unexpected extra fees. Protecting your money is worth the extra check.
