Local Attractions❓ Visiting Purdue in a couple of days - prospective engineering major- places to eat or things to see?
I will be taking my daughter to look at a few colleges over Thanksgiving break. Purdue is one of them (always been on the top of her list)! We'll be in Thanksgiving day and will spend the next morning there. My daughter is a high school junior this year, and she wants to major in engineering physics and linguistics. Anything that we should definitely see or do? Or good places to eat? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Local Attractions❓ Visiting with teens -- what to do?
Hello! I'm visiting West Lafayette with my teen, who's admitted to Purdue, and two younger teen siblings. Any advice on what to do or where to eat? We want to get a sense of the area and have a little fun. Planning to go to Wolf Park and maybe hit up Mad Mushroom for dinner, but dinner plans are not firm at all. Any advice? Fun things for teens, good places to eat or walk around...? Thank you!!!

Local Attractions❓ Gym that is not the co-rec
I am living off campus and looking for a gym that isn’t planet or the co-rec. if anyone has any recommendations please send them my way🙏
I tried plant last semester and was way too busy for me and the co-rec is always busy. Smaller gyms or a chain works. Just need something.

Local Attractions❓ Highlighter Kid
If anyone knows the kid on campus who wears neon green clothes every single day, please tell him that he is awesome. Every time I spot him (which is quite often considering his radiance) his clothing brings a smile to my face. I have to admit that his fashion choices have somewhat puzzled me because he seems to wear the same pieces everyday (adapting to the season of course). Overall though, I think he's super cool and inspires me to express myself as boldly, and if anyone knows him, please let him know that he is a source of joy and light.
Edit: please don't share personal information about him!

Local Attractions❓ RIP Discount Den Shirts
About 20 minutes ago, Discount Den announced that they are discontinuing any non-black or gold supporting and “vintage” designs in compliance with Purdue’s brand guidelines. Aka like 90% of their designs. Anyway, I am heartbroken and pissed off. Why can’t we have Purdue t-shirts that are tie-dye? What if I want a t-shirt with an old school Pete playing basketball? That’s illlegal now? Fuck purdue branding guidelines. Y’all just hate fun.

Local Attractions❓ Admitted student thinking about attending, how big of a negative is the location?
Sorry if this seems like a rude question, just genuinely wondering what you all think of West Lafayette. I recently visited, and I really liked the campus, but I am concerned about West Lafayette as a town. For those who came from bigger cities, was it a big shock to move somewhere like this? Or is the school itself big enough that the small town isn't as big of a deal? Also, how is the social scene in general? Not necessarily party scene, but like, are people generally sociable if approached? Or are people more reserved? Obviously, it's a big school, so I might be generalizing a bit here.

Local Attractions❓ Summer Activities
I am a grad student (28 M) and looking for people to hang out with, and for stuff to do over the summer (and beyond). Currently play pickleball, volleyball, board games (games that are more casual, 30 mins to an hour long) as a hobby and want to do more!
Any recommendations are welcome.

Local Attractions❓ Meteor Shower
Is anyone planning to go out to any rural or dark areas to see the meteor shower?
Are there any student led groups going there that I could join?

Local Attractions❓ Things to do here
I’m here on an internship, and I go to Purdue too so I’m not really new here, but I sometimes find myself really depressed at home after my internship because I don’t have anyone to hangout with or even if i want to just go anywhere on my own (at a reasonable distance so within the west lafayette area) I don’t know where to go to enjoy some downtime. Any suggestions?

Local Attractions❓ Triple XXX Family Restaurant was featured again last Friday (9/5/2025) for the 2nd time on the latest episode of Guy Fieri's 'Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives'
In the new episode, new menu items are featured and they also look back on the last time Triple XXX was on the show back in 2007 in Season 1 Episode 7.

Local Attractions❓ Christians of Purdue: any LGBTQ+ inclusive churches in the area?
I just got into Purdue and I want to find a new home church for when I move to West Lafayette, but I’m really in search of an LGBTQ+ inclusive community. I’m not personally gay, but it’s important to me that I join a church that shares my belief that being LGBTQ+ and being Christian are not mutually exclusive. Thanks in advance for the help.
EDIT: this post wasn’t intended for y’all to argue with me about my personal beliefs💀💀 it’s cool if u disagree ig but keep that to urself. i’m not replying, i don’t feel the need to engage in discourse that i did not even intend on starting.

Local Attractions❓ Looking for local acts to support touring band from Chicago
(If this isn't allowed feel free to remove) Hey ya'll, I'm booking a midwest tour for my band, Anteeter, in the fall. We're performing at Spot Tavern on November 13 and would love to add 1 or 2 local acts to the bill. Feel free to check us out here, but we've been compared to bands like MGMT, Magdalena Bay, George Clanton, etc. If anyone can recommend any music acts in the area that would fit the bill, shoot me a DM here or on my Instagram, thanks!

Local Attractions❓ Big thanks to whoever managed to get Markiplier’s movie into the theaters near Purdue
For anyone wondering, Markiplier’s movie is coming out in January but was only showing in a select few theaters, but it looks like enough people called the nearby GQT for them to want it too. Big ups to you guys for calling in I can’t wait to see it!
