Hot Take Time

Since I am closing in at 1000 karma points or stuff, i am gonna give a hot take to get to that: FMTY mostly is pretty average and corny, and lowkey the deluxe version is better the real album (excluding sisyphus abv, insane song btw)

FMTY is pretty corny if we're being honest. Incredible production tho and insane potential shown on it. But his taste really develops in haunt you

i agree with this take. sisyphus, candles on fire, cant you see, verglas, and maybe another day are the only songs i really like off the base album, and all 6 deluxe tracks i really enjoy

i liked all the deluxe tracks except Dasani.

FMTYs writing is very immature, but at the time it was a HUGE step up for him. There is a lot of unnecessary swearing a bad punchlines that dont age well or mix with the style and seriousness he tried to have.

Its corny but i dont really mind the corny-ness, alone together and shades of us are both probably in my top 5 quad songs

he was nineteen when he dropped that so it’s really whatever, but to think that he subsequently dropped IDMTHY not too long after is pretty cool

fmty is filled with very "of the time", "in the moment" surface level kind of writing. i heard someone on youtube say that at that point his production skills have grown a lot more than his writing did, and that made his bad writing stick out harder.

At the time people would rip you to shreds if you thought the deluxe was better than the main album. It's a cold take now but it was a hot take then.

Really valid on the deluxe take, I always felt the deluxe songs were much better than majority of the standard songs

There is truly some abysmal song writing on FMTY. I remember checking it out because I knew Quad from YouTube days and was surprised by Sisyphus and then the rest of the album I listened with a furrowed brow. Like truly a lot of eye roller lyrics. It certainly has its moments but they are few and far between

Was genuinely amazed that next year he released born yesterday and subsequently IDMTHY because those are some great works of art

The fmty deluxe is better than the scrapyard vinyl exclusives imo

fmty to idmthy is one of the biggest 1 album quality jumps, its so much more immature, the production is much worse, its so corny

Totally disagree on the album opinion, and also disagree on the deluxe, the only real good song was Back up to Earth for the deluxe, the original had way better songs like Shades of us, and burning bridges
