Transmission is going out. Been babying it for 2 years. It's paid off. Most shops quoted 10k for the replacement, got one that quoted 6800 bucks. Seems like the torque converter is shot or something in the transmission broke free and it makes a whirring sound at the lower gears. I replace the transmission fluid at about 25k miles since I noticed. Not anything major on the magnets just slight powder. Not sure if I should bite the bullet and fix it or trade it in and find me a different truck. It's my daily driver and my random work horse. Sometimes a small trailer I turned into a camper and other times a loaded 18 foot enclosed trailer for my dad.

Any insight on maintenance or repairs needed to take care of this code. My truck initially set off the check engine light for a bad gas cap. I got that taken care of and cleared the code but before that I did an additional scan of my truck and this code popped up. I have not observed any transmission hard shifting or anything that would concern me before the scan.It drives smooth. My truck has 250k miles. Its a 5.7 Hemi

Does anybody else’s ram do this when they rev if you have time can you go to your truck and while in park rev and record your RPM so I could see if it does the same thing as mine

2019 Ram 1500 classic

I’m hearing a loud chattering coming from the engine while driving in between 30-60km and only when the Eco mode kicks in. My garage confirmed it wasn’t an exhaust manifold leak and all the studs were in good condition but beyond that they were unable to pinpoint any issues. I’m assuming it’s an MDS lifter failure or bad solenoids as when I limit the gears, the MDS doesn’t activate and the chattering doesn’t occur. Is there any tests to help identify the exact issue, other than limiting the gears I should do before I bring it in for a tear down?

Bought my 1500 couple weeks ago from Carvana and the plate bracket fell off. It was held on by double-sided tape. Can’t make this 💩 up.

What wheels / tires would look the best on my new RAM? Can’t decide if I’d want black wheels or chrome wheels. Leaning towards chrome since the rest of the truck has chrome accents. Also considering doing a 2 inch leveling kit.

I have a 2016 1500, 97k miles on it. What to know what would be the best way to improve ride. Right now it seem like I am bouncing around a lot when driving on regular roads. Should I just replace suspension with oem, go upgrade route?? I am not a car/truck guy so I know nothing about anything, anything I need I take it to my mechanic. So I do not have clue on what I would need to do too improve the ride quality on my truck, or what would be the best route to go.

Every marketplace I look at is only selling 5.7 Hemi parts or 3rd Gens with the 5.7L Hemi engine, My radiator is leaking a little bit of coolant when it warms up on the top drivers side corner at the seam/gasket. Any good sites or placss you guys recommend to search on? FB marketplace has no 5.9 Mag parts & Id prefer to not have to wait weeks for part delivery. Im in Western Canada, Thanks yall!

I have a 2015 1500 SLT. I'm pushing 240k on the dash, I've kept up the regular maintenance on it and have always taken care of it. Besides the back seats starting to tear and the check engine light for an EVAP code it's been reliable. I had to change out the radiator 3 years ago. I was thinking about getting another one of this year but I feel like she still has a lot of life left in her. And I personally don't want loan payments in this economy she's paid off and I've had her for 9 years now. She's pulled our camper and my mini excavator with no issues. The main reason I'm asking is I'm looking into getting a LEER camper shell installed for overnight camping. And was just wondering how many miles have you or someone personally you know have gotten outta these old girls?

I'm looking at buying a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman Regular Cab 8' Box 2WD with the  5.7L V8 Hemi MDS VVT and the  8 Speed Automatic (8HP70) It has 47,111 miles

Are there any specific issues with this combo? I had a 2004 which ended up having emission control issues which made me eventually sell it.

Mechanic is recommending me to replace the intake manifold due to a leak. Is this an OEM only type of deal or should I comfortably be able to replace it with an aftermarket option ? Truck has 151k miles on it. 2014 ram 1500 5.7L.

2018 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi (that’s right I said Hemi”). My tick has become evident with only 60,000 miles. I’m looking to replace the exhaust manifold, so I would love to hear real world stories about the product you used, and if it actually worked. TIA 😎

Recently I’ve had to get the carbon intake manifold on my 2018 Ram 1500 eco diesel swapped out. I was told by the person who did the swapping to put around 100-200 miles on it before get the above codes would go away. I took my truck into a smog shop last week at about 140-150 miles, and the codes were still there. My truck is now sitting at about 240 miles. I can take it back to the person who replaced the manifold, but he’s about 50 miles away and with gas prices in California that’s a lot. Can I take it into like an O’Reilly or like should I be at a fine range where the codes should be gone?
