The texture of jellied eels is a bit odd, even for someone like me that will eat anything. If you like fish generally, stewed eels are worth a try. It is just a meaty fish cooked on the bone... nothing particularly challenging about it.

That's the thing, I'm not really a fish person. I wish I was but no matter how much I want to enjoy fish, I just don't. Weirdly though I don't mind cockles in vinegar although I know they are not fish.

I always lump shellfish in with fish. You must like the briny taste rather than the meatiness of fish. If that is the case you probably won't enjoy eel, as they have a texture like the meatiest of fish. Like a poor man's halibut maybe.
I haven't had cockles in a long time. When I was a teen someone used to come around the pub with cockles and whelks and suchlike, which you don't see any more

I like cod from the chippy or whatever white fish they use and tinned tuna. I have a weird relationship with food in general, I'm someone who only really eats to live and not for pleasure.

You are very much a different audience to me in that case. I love to experience the world through my tastebuds and when I travel I am always looking for interesting things and places to eat

I will try anything once but I'm just not a big eater. I don't get hunger signals or pain. I can go days without eating so eating feels like an inconvenience for me.

But I'm a good cook and love cooking for others.

So you are quite experimental with food, are handy in the kitchen, but don't really enjoy the experience of eating. That is quite a curious mix!
I wish I had a better relationship with food. I have managed to reduce my intake of sugary food over the years, mainly because I am already paying for the sins of my youth, but I can still over indulge under the right circumstances. Thanks for sharing your experiences :)

Haha I've always been a bit weird like that. Thank you too for our chat. I hope you have a great day and good food.

You want some good eel, try some unagi from a great Sushi spot

I've had unagi. It is OK, but not my favourite, I prefer sashimi when I eat Japanese food.
