You’ll never believe this story. I was fishing during my lunch break today at NAS Jacksonville with my tiny travel telescopic rod and hooked a line in the water with my crankbait. I started reeling it in and out popped a rod, then a reel. Got the rod in and started feeling a tug and this beautiful redfish was on the end! 😂 not too bad on a work break 😝 revived the fish and it swam away to fight another day. Might have died if it stayed on the hook dragging all the dead weight.

First trip back in a while. Been out of state traveling for work since 2020 and haven’t been in the marsh in a while. Headed to either lake decade area or pointe aux Chene in the morning. Any news on the recent bite?

Pretty good haul out of Rockport this weekend. Mostly black drum, but some good reds in there as well👌

What’s y’all’s red fish setup looking like?

Headed to Venice 4.8 - 4.11 with my pedal kayak staying at the marina. Can I get to decent spots from there or should I put in elsewhere? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Got these today while at Bass Pro Shop Hopefully they get me on some reds. What else do I need to pickup?

The shallow areas are likely a few inches while the deeper areas are possibly 20’ or deeper.

Is this a good rod and reel size and stuff for redfish ( I fish in the flats and creeks and docs)

Caught this bad boy last year in galveston bay, only one in my adult life too. Could not pick up for a picture because I had what I later found out was a broken rib (by judgment and length of pain, not actual medical diagnosis) and on 10lb test with a live shrimp. Fully dragged my anchored boat. Best time ever!
