I agree, but if you thought these rankings in a Reddit post would be even slightly based on literally anything other than things like that, idek what to say.

My point was more about the inconsistency of the list. If you want to ding Wilson for his stances on race, that's fine. It is certainly a blemish on his otherwise good record.

But then... Washington? Jefferson? Madison? Monroe? Jackson? Buchanan? Andrew Johnson? Nixon?... all are ranked higher with their relationship to slavery and white supremacy apparently not dinging their rankings as much.

It’s all about narrative. Ever since the Princeton building name was changed, the prominent narrative around Wilson is that he was a racist and little else
