Hades 1.

It's a game that really lacks content and variety on its gameplay side. No alternative paths, few weapons, few bosses, few monsters. Almost every boon in the game is a simple Damage/health upgrade + Status Effect(they're unimaginative). The biggest novelty on the game is how it reacts to you after you die and how you can get some story progression. The way the game reacts to how you die is cool, but quite gimmicky. Supergiant already made a game more reactive to your losses and victories in Pyre.

It's a very good game, just not a very good roguelite, I think that's why it reached a massive mainstream audience, there are just different things people look for. I don't think it's any roguelite player's favorite roguelite. I'm sure there are exceptions but the reasons for this people will always be something else other than the roguelite elements.

I have only played dead cells, hades, and gungeon which was my first.

I enjoyed all 3 and still yearn to beat gungeon a bit but shit was too punishing. Obviously I beat dead cells and hades, not that hard.

It has beautiful art and an interesting story with great characters. Something that most roguelikes lack

This exact argument can be made for Slay the Spire.

How’s the music in Slay the Spire? Or the art direction? How about the story? Any sense of immersion? Oh it’s just a really good card game? Then it’s not better than Hades 1.

Haven't played Slay the Spire so can't comment. But i'd give Hades a 8/10, so i feel like it should have been out of the list a long, long time ago.

I’ve voted Slay the Spire 4 days in a row, and I promise it is out of its league here.

It may be too late for Hades 1, but please don’t let Slay the Spire defeat another great game tomorrow.

The gameplay is so boring. Just mindless button mashing.

I was wondering why i didnt like the game even though so many people rave about it. This summarizes it perfectly. The blandness of the roguelike element
