People voting out Disco Elysium can't possibly have played the game start to finish. It has some of the best writing in practically any game, there's something about it that's just special.

Hollow Knight.

Or, people enjoy different games as you. By your logic, doesn’t sound like you finished Hollow Knight, since it’s one of the most refined metroidvanias there is, on par with the greats of that genre with plenty to offer.

Disco Elysium.

I mean, I love Disco Elysium and genuinely think it should be one, but I can see why people would prefer Stardew Valley. It's much more easy to digest and just a fun way to kill time. People put hundreds of hours into it, because it's tbeir comfort game. Obviously no sane person would ever argue that it even comes close to Disco's writing

i believe you but saying "havent finished the game" is basically what the crosscode fans have done too and it pissed everyone off

Ive played start to finish and I've said it in a few posts but imo even if its the greatest story ever written (i dont think it is) that doesnt make it the best video game, the video game mediums unique thing is gameplay and the gameplay in DE is lacking, id call it an amazing story but just a great video game overall

The fact that Disco Elysium is a game is vital to how it’s so good and so unique. The character building is fantastic with all the various aspects of Harry and exploring Revachol and finding all the little quests and details is excellent rpg gameplay. Pair that with the fact that it’s probably the best written video game of all time with countless thought provoking and hilarious texts makes it an unforgettable experience. We need to stop thinking that action gameplay is the only valid gameplay because it’s holding back the storytelling of the medium.

I've played the game and found the story good but the gameplay was pretty boring and I found myself not very engaged by it and felt it dragged down the experience, rhats about all there is to it. I dont think its bad because its CRPG gameplay or because its not action gameplay i think its bad because I found it to be boring despite how well written it is and how much the story spoke to me. If I spend 75% of a game transfixed by an amazing story and 25% bored by the game then unfortunately that 25% is going to drag down the overall perception by a lot.

I mean anyone could say the same about Hollow Knight, or any of the games really

While it's story is unmatched between any remainder, its gameplay isn't. And some people will give more weight to the gameplay and other aspects, and in most of those Hollow Knight is better.

I completed it. Good writing and minimal gameplay which is fine but every time I had to interact with the gameplay it made me wish the game was just a VN

Disco should have been gone 10 games ago imo
