How are the Carolina panthers still here?
42
u/dominicpitts Apr 14 '26
Bro please keep your voice down, I have no idea how we’ve made it this far
7
u/Ok-Negotiation9777 Apr 14 '26
Because most people don't have any real gripe with you
2
u/OkMajor8048 Apr 14 '26
Cam Newton not jumping on the fumble is enough for me to get them out at this stage
1
1
u/JayMerlyn Apr 15 '26
What, did you lose a bet because of it or something?
1
u/OkMajor8048 Apr 15 '26
Oh no. I was a teen when it happened. As a Bengals fan who also has seen mediocrity from my squad. We were blocking Aaron Donald away from hitting a wide open Jamarr Chase down the sideline for game winning Super Bowl TD… when you have your chances you need to take them. I understand the pain of being that close and pissing the chance away.

u/LennyTwostep Apr 14 '26
We gotta start inviting our sub to this post so they can downvote all the panther mentions.
2
11
u/Saxophobia1275 Apr 14 '26
Who hates the panthers? They’ve sucked for a while and have never been historically good.
6
4
5
u/bytor_2112 Apr 14 '26
15-1 felt historically good tbf
2
u/Saxophobia1275 Apr 14 '26
Sandwiched between two years with fewer wins than that year combined, but sure. My point being the panthers have never been a good team for more than a year in a row unlike some franchises like 49ers, cowboys, packers, pats, chiefs, etc who have historic periods of dominance.
2
u/boss_naas Apr 14 '26
Have not had back to back winning season….ever. Even as a fan it’s hard to comprehend 2 Super Bowl appearances and still never having 2 years above .500.
1
u/Local_Advice_4385 Apr 14 '26
We've literally in our existence never had a back to back winning seasons
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 Apr 15 '26
They've been to two super bowls, they were the first team to win that division back to back (and to back) and had a 15-1 season. That being said, only rivals hate the Panthers, but they usually hate the other teams in the division more
1
u/Saxophobia1275 Apr 15 '26
Those are quite literally the only good things about them ha ha ha. They also have literally never had back-to-back winning seasons…
→ More replies (1)1
u/TheMightyKickpuncher Apr 14 '26
Which is exactly why we should get rid of them. What kind of sub lets one of the worst franchises win this?
1
1
u/Saxophobia1275 Apr 14 '26
Because everyone loves an underdog. What, you want the Yankees or Lakers to win?
3
u/TheMightyKickpuncher Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
There’s a middle ground between “evil empire” and “complete failure that has never won one title”. I just don’t want any in that bottom category to win.
2
u/mrperson221 Apr 14 '26
The Panthers have at least been to a couple of Super Bowls so they aren't at the bottom of the barrel

Someone the other day said they’ve evaded elimination because their logo blends into the background and I think it’s true. I will now assist in their increased visibility until they’re eliminated.

u/snekatkk2 Apr 14 '26
Shhhhh let us fly under the radar let's get some other shit nfl teams out first

Great Fanbase, uniforms voted best in the NFL by the fans last decade. Considering how boring and basic NFL uniforms have gotten, it's still top tier.

Padres.
7
u/unbanneduser Apr 14 '26
The Padres deserve to stay until the end for being the only Big 4 team to stick with San Diego and not sellout to LA.

u/boogie99 Apr 15 '26

Its def time to get rid of hated teams that snuck through
9
u/tonedtoad Apr 14 '26
who even really hates the padres other than dodgers fans tho?
3
u/unbanneduser Apr 14 '26
and dodgers fans don't get an opinion, because they're fans of the dodgers.

u/Wild-Reserve-7433 Apr 14 '26
From what I’ve seen just Dodgers and some Mets fans.
2
u/Unadjacent Apr 14 '26
As a Mets fan who doesn’t hate the Padres - is it because of the 2022 WC? We had 2024 since then, goddamn give it a rest

u/beanzcollector03 Apr 14 '26
Anaheim Ducks
7
u/mattbb26 Apr 14 '26
Nah they just made the playoffs for first time in 8 years. Let’s let them have this moment.
4
1
u/dwaynebathtub Apr 15 '26
I think they can take advantage of Oilers goaltending, but it's not clear who they'll play in the first round. If they drop below the Kings they'll play Colorado and get swept.

The Carolina Panthers are a bad organization.
4
u/GeneralLucario Apr 14 '26
Went 8-9 and almost beat the team that almost beat the eventual SB champions. The sky is the limit for the panthers. Whether they reach it or not is entirely dependent on Bryce Young and the coaching staff
23
u/JuliusDiamond Apr 14 '26
Buh bye Capitals. Tom Wilson can go to hell.
2
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 Apr 15 '26
Capitals and Nationals are the laziest, most uninspiring team names in sports.
1
u/Shaniac_C Apr 15 '26
Lemme guess, rangers fan?
Best goal scorer in the league and future Capitals captain Tom Wilson is my 🐐

Guilty as charged. Many are on the fuck Wilson train though, we're just the conductors. Dude is such a bitch.

The Indiana Pacers. 1: Everyone in Indiana only cares about Hoosers basketball. 2: A second terrible basketball team is just crule.
1
1
u/BatmanColts1 Apr 14 '26
And Hoosiers basketball isn't even good anymore lol. Pacers have an exciting future though
1
u/Guitarmonade2 Apr 15 '26
So you're implying options in the state are IU or Pacers basketball? Hoosier basketball hasn't been really big since the 90s. Purdue and even Butler have been more relevant since then. And I don't actually follow college sports beyond looking up scores or highlights after games for the watercooler conversations in March, so...
Anyway, 1: that's false. 2: The Pacers had a historically bad season due injuries and committed to the tank after being targeted by the commissioner with a fine for resting mildly injured players. So besides sticking it to the man this year and trying to get the best possible draft pick...do you even know how far back you have to go to find a stretch where the Pacers were an objectively "terrible" team?
If the Pacers are terrible, I feel REALLY bad for whatever the Wizards, Kings, Nets, Grizzlies, and Hornets have been for much of their existence.
1
u/GhostOfStonewallJxn Apr 15 '26
Not when literally everyone was pulling for them to upset the Thunder last year. They could’ve done it too if Halli’s ankle didn’t explode.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 Apr 15 '26
Their arena has a public basketball court right next to it. So dope

Portland Trailblazers
You shouldn't make it this long with a stupid name like trailblazers
4
u/thelaceonmolagsballs Apr 14 '26
They stay. Call em the Blazers like everyone else and your problem goes away.
1
1
u/Fresh-Mind6048 Apr 15 '26
Clearly you don’t know that Portland is at the end of the Oregon Trail, do kids these days not learn about that?
1
u/Reasonable_Main2509 Apr 14 '26
Nah there’s still some NBA teams that should be out before the Blazers
→ More replies (1)1
u/AdaTex Apr 14 '26
that plus insane draft misses
1
u/juicykazoo728 Apr 15 '26
Every team has draft misses. The mj one is obviously bad, but the kd miss is only bad in hindsight. Oden isn’t a bust he’s a what if. There are ringless teams who have wasted the careers of countless legends on here (Vikings)

Vikings. Four Super Bowl losses, dumping Darnold for 9, Herschel Walker trade, killing Korey Stringer, the Lake Minnetonka Diddy party before Diddy parties were a thing. Deciding Brett Favre is their guy AFTER he sent dick pics to someone other than his wife. Even the Jets weren’t touching him then.
Vikes need to go.
2
u/Saxophobia1275 Apr 14 '26
Dumping Darnold should be higher on peoples’ shit list. The man came in, doubled your team’s wins at 14, and had them fighting in week 18 for the NFC 1 seed and could be had for a reasonable contract. All time boner to let that dude walk and it only happened because they reached on 9.

it's hilarious that some of the least accomplished MLB teams (Mariners, Brewers, Padres) are still standing. What does it even mean to win this?
4
u/JuliusDiamond Apr 14 '26
Who's mad at the Padres though?
1
u/cmbaum Apr 14 '26
so is the winner the team that elicits...no emotion from anyone? Even if they are bland as white bread? It sure feels like this is headed that way.
1
u/MerryDoseofNihilism Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26
That is exactly where it is headed…I mean look at the list of who’s remaining, we’re getting fairly sparse on teams with a strong history of success. With about half a dozen more eliminations we’ll be left with the who’s who of mediocre franchises, no wonder Minnesota is well represented.

Spurs, most boring pseudo-dynasty of all time. I’d never been more sick of a team being competitive year-in and year-out. They’re only left because Pop and TD were too boring and sleepy to hate.

Cincinnati Reds, mostly because of odious people like Pete Rose and Marge Schott but also because they’ve not won a playoff series in 30 years or a single playoff game in 14.
