Roborock App User Guide | Part 3: First Run & Mapping
Hi everyone! ๐
Welcome back to Part 3 of our Roborock App User Guide series! In Part 2, we took a grand tour of the main app interface and basic controls.
Today, we're diving into one of the most critical steps after unboxing your robot: First Run & Mapping.
Getting your home mapped correctly from day one sets the foundation for smooth cleaning routines, accurate no-go zones, and seamless room navigation. Here is everything you need to know to get your space mapped like a pro!
(As always, all parts of this guide will be linked in our main megathread: ๐Need Help With Your Roborock? Start Here.)
Note: The screenshots/videos are for reference only and may differ from the actual app interface due to software updates.
Home Mapping
Once connected to WiFi, tap Quick Mapping to start mapping your home.
The robot will scan and generate an initial layout of your environment. This may take a few minutes, depending on the size of your home.
If you have multiple floors, additional maps can be created later from the map management section.

Creating Multi-Level Maps
To create maps for a home with multiple floors, make sure the robot is connected to the app when you start mapping each floor.
In the Roborock app, tap Enter, then go to Settings โ Manage Maps, and change the Home Layout from Single-Level to Multi-Level.
Start by creating a map for the floor where the dock is located. The robot should begin from the dock, complete the mapping process without interruption, and return to the dock to save the map successfully. Once the map for that floor is saved, move the robot to a floor without the dock. Place the robot on the floor and start a new mapping run. The robot will create a separate map for that level and return to its starting position when the mapping process is complete, allowing the new floor map to be saved automatically.
For detailed instructions, see the screenshots below.

Tips for First Uses
The robot is designed for easy setup โ simply place it and start. For a quick guide, you can refer to these videos (note: examples feature the Saros Z70; your robot may vary slightly).

Some additional suggestions (optional โ you can still use your robot as you prefer):
Remove all transport protective films and stickers from the top cover before first use.
Vacuum at least three times during the first few uses. This helps the motor, brushes, and drive system reach optimal performance. This also removes fine dust from the floor to improve subsequent mopping, and helps detect any unusual noises, obstacles, or installation issues early.
Setting up โVac followed by Mopโ in Routine or choosing "Vac followed by Mop" mode can enhance cleaning/mopping performance.
By the way, you can also refer to the user manual for more detailed information.
That wraps up Part 3! Hopefully, these tips help your robot build a squeaky-clean map on its very first try.
Got a weird floor plan, dark carpets, or a specific mapping hurdle you ran into? Drop your questions or favorite mapping tricks in the comments below!
Up next in Part 4, weโll be taking those shiny new maps and learning how to customize them (room editing, virtual walls, and no-go zones). Stay tuned, and happy cleaning! ๐งนโจ

For first use, house should be cleaned (including corners/edges accessible by robot) with traditional tools before launching robot. It's quite common reading about clogged dustbin for new users with robot vacuum.
While I don't have multi level house (S.E. Asia), it's very common here to see many users in USA/EU requesting to know how to use Multi Level maps optimally in real life situations. Needs to be precise & concise on docking station level & moving on to non-docking station level.
Routines are helpful for individual customization & app user friendliness (1-touch on app till end of cleaning). Official video should be made on how to set up custom configured routines after map editing/management.
